I unfortunately train in a commercial gym (Bally’s Total Fitness) and I built a box for squatting. I need to come up with a good reason to tell the managers there why I need to leave it there because I honsetly don’t feel like carrying it in and out of the place. It’s a 12x14x16 inch box that I have set 7 100 pound plates on with no problems. It’s safe but they are being douchebags about me leaving it there.

Anyone got any ideas?[/quote]
Is there a back room? Can they leave it behind the desk or somewhere people won’t use it?
I don’t have a great reason for you to leave the box in the gym, but I can tell you that the plain old aerobics steps make very good boxes, and you simply adjust the number of risers in them to the desired height, 4 is usually good (on each side). Most basic gyms have a bunch of these things sitting around for their aerobics classes, and people often use them on the floor for Step-ups, etc. Hope that helps a little.
I would advise that you just carry it in and out of the weightroom with you. It’ll be a pain in the ass, but I’ve had problems with leaving my stuff in weightrooms were a lot of other people use it; having people take it, move it, etc. etc.
Probably better off in the long run just lugging it in and out so you know you always have a good box to squat off of.
Exactly the reason I started building my home gym. I do almost all my squating at home. I have a home made box and chains. Next I plan on getting a GHR or a reverse hyper.
What not tell them that they’re willingness to accommodate your reasonable request will be on your mind when it comes time to decide whether to renew your membership? That or start constructing a home gym.
I wouldn’t trust leaving any personal property at any gym. How many times a week are you going to use the box, once or twice? I’d just take the inconvenience rather than having it go missing or fighting with the gym over where to keep it. That’s just my 2 cents though.
