Hey @boilerman i’m curious. When you’re doing your deepwater press sets do you get like an immense short time period of burning shoulder pain between your sets. It’s normal pain, i’m just curious if u experienced it.
Happy B day bro!
I’m not sure man, normally I just get a nasty shoulder pump, which can be sort of painful especially if I move my arms in certain directions. Any possibility that’s the case?
My last run through gave me some shoulder issues for a few weeks. My left shoulder felt kind of locked up, but it lasted for weeks not just a short time period.
Thanks boilerman I turned 19 today. Yeah that was the type of pain I was talking about. A very aggressive pump.
Yeah man, that sounds about right haha. It’s funny that even with the absence of any direct carbs last time through it, I still got a huge pump almost every single session. Feels good after the pain goes away!
Deepwater W4D2
Pull up 15, 12, 10.5, 8.5
BOR 4x10 at 135
Clean pull 3x10 at 135
Planks and sit ups
Pull ups felt good for the back DOMs… Fingers crossed that I’m done with work for the weekend, so I’ll try and hit press early tomorrow
A recent diabetes test had me pretty square in the middle as far as fasting insulin goes, despite being in a similar way as far as carb intake is concerned. I think it speaks to just how non-essential carbs are: the body will figure out a way to make it when it needs it.
That is pretty wild, and just another reason that I love eating the way I do.
I was honestly expecting a huge increase in pump when I started taking the preworkout drink this time around, but haven’t noticed anything substantial. It’s not that I’m chasing a pump or anything, just a surprising aside.

Lots of back DOMs today, grip is shot as well. Everything moved well, though. I’m thinking I could’ve added 5-10lbs to the push press weight from day 1, but once intermediate comes around I’ll be glad I didn’t.
Clearly this man wants it all if he has been suffering from DOMs.
(I am totally gonna keep saying stupid sh*t like this as motivation)
The DOMs doesn’t stop on deepwater in my experience, man. Just gotta push through and get the stuff done!

Much more difficult than last weeks amrap in 30 seconds. Breathing very hard, and got to re-enjoy a small bite of my after work snack as well.
It’s only been a week since my last general update, but with how quickly things change for me while running deepwater, I think it’s warranted.
Diet has been similar to my previous run through, just increased amount of food. Everything I had been eating before (lots of beef, avocados, eggs, peanut butter, salads, etc). The pre/intra workout carbs are becoming a little bit more tolerable to drink and I’m not noticing a dry mouth as much lately. DOMS still stick around with the carbs, but I will be totally honest when I say there may be something to the micro-PA and Plazma taken together. It’s tough to break down the gains between plain old hard work and the supplements. I was having similar increases in muscle the first run through, but for some reason, this time seems more noticable.
I know I’ve put on a little bit if fat, but I’m not concerned about that right now. It seems like every week of the program I finish, the bigger I feel. My upper body seems to absolutely love this program. I know I say this every update, but my shoulders feel like they’re just exploding. Traps, lats, chest and obliques have noticably grown as well.
Lower body growth, while not as noticable, has been happening. I’ve had to retire yet another pair of jeans that used to fit about 4 months ago due to my quads. I just had to purchase 36" waist jeans and cinch them with a belt so there is room for my butt and quads, in addition to buying the athletic cut styles.
Squats tomorrow and I’m feeling ready to absolutely destroy my legs. I am so happy to almost be done with beginners, but I’ll be honest when I say that I haven’t been thinking about intermediate at all. I am legitimately afraid haha.
You’re most likely not as “flat” as you were before, due to full glycogen stores. I’m noticing this on my own. When I was in my last fat loss phase, I made use of breakfast cereal pre-workout on my squat and deadlift days, and noticed my muscles had a bit more “pop” in them visually. Abs, in particular, were deeper. Having foregone that this time, things are a bit more on the shallow side.
You’re crushing it yet again dude! This is such a valuable log for anyone reading.
That makes sense, then! I definitely feel like everything has more fullness right now. I just feel… Swollen. I don’t know of a better way to describe it. Just a full-to-the-brim type feeling. I’m hoping that including the carbs this time won’t give me a false sense of gains, just to be lost once I finish the bags of supplements. If so, hopefully I’ll at least look leaner once the bloat is gone. Like I said though… looks are not the goal. I want to hit some ambitious numbers before the new year, so if I have to get a little bit more chubby, I’m ok with it.
Thanks man! I am feeling much more confident in my abilities this time around. Still scared as hell, but I know it’s not going to kill me haha.
I like equating it to watching a horror movie you’ve seen before. You know where the scary parts are now, haha.
Lol exactly
Haven’t done a dinner pic in a while
1lb ribeye, small avocado, 4 slices of bacon, large salad with organic cheddar and blue cheese. Just finished up eating, now for some peanut butter and resting up for work and squats tomorrow.
Deepwater W5D1
Squat at 275lb, 2 min rest
9 sets of 10
1 set of 9
1 single
DL 3x10 at 135
BW lunge 3x10 ea
Sit ups and supermans
Ninety nine reps. That’s my limit at 275 with two minutes rest at this point in time.
I went down with number 100, but did not move an inch out of the hole. Had to rack the bar for the first time ever on squats, unload the bar and hit a single.
Ninety fucking nine reps.
Puny 275 can’t stop the boilerman
