Boilerman Wants It All

Pet transport:
My wife and I did a lot of volunteering with organizations that did that back before we had so many kids. Its amazing that TX is overrun with strays, shelters are full; dogs are often mistreated or neglected. Up north, supply and demand swings thr other way.

That’s a great thing for you guy to have done! The shelter we adopted her from had explained it the same way you described it- too many stray dogs and not enough homes. I guess the place gets a truck full of dogs once a week. Luckily they are able to adopt out 90+% of them here and in the surrounding areas.

Actually had an hour to lift today. I was initially planning on shooting for 5x8 at 185 for the top sets, but form was locked in and MMC was on point. Hit the first top set with some life left to spare, second one was a bit of a grind and the left side of the bar started to drop, but I got it back up.

I think hitting some maxes/PRs was a good idea for the past month. It will give me a decent idea of progress in the upcoming months with a new program and layout. I also now know what works well for me. Straight sets with a stupid amount of volume and food is all I need. If I’m ever in a ridiculous rut, I know where I’m turning, and I will certainly be falling back on deepwater again sooner rather than later. It has exploded my numbers.

I can finally say I’ve hit 1234 plates, so I’m now on the path to 2345.

DUDE! Awesome. 225 bench is a milestone man. You’ve got me thinking 1234 would be a good goal for me too.
2345, now, that’s another matter entirely lol.

Good job on the bench PR sir.

Thanks man, yeah I’ve been chasing it for a long time now. I’m super happy to say that I can bench beyond my bodyweight. I think 1234 is absolutely a great goal for you, and you’re probably a lot closer than you think. OHP and bench are in the bag for sure, just hit back squats and deads hard and it’s in the books man!

I’m hoping to hit a 4 plate squat within the next few months, deadlifts are finally clicking, but my upper body lifts have always given me issues. Like I said above though… I know exactly what I need to do in order to progress them, if it comes down to it.

Thanks simo

I think 5/3/1 with a PR set and widowmaker FSL, supersetted with an assistance movement + 1-2 additional exercises afterwards if time permits would entice me in that situation. Very quick but still allows for pushing oneself a bit. But you know yourself better than I do, and if it’s only for a couple months, I don’t think whatever you choose will make or break anything.

Big congrats on the bench PR!

Congrats on the pr!

What exactly is the 1234? I know normally it’s s/b/d, not familiar with the 1234/2345

OHP is the 1

Damn. A two plate OHP is far more impressive than the other lifts in that “2345” order lol

For me at least it would make sense at 2,4,5,6. A 2 plate OHP is harder for me than a 3 plate bench. It may actually be 2,4,4,6. I suck at squatting. Closer to 4 plates on bench than 5 plates on a raw squat.

I definitely agree haha. For sure going to aim for it though.

For some reason my squat is decent, even with my complete lack of competency haha. It all seems out of reach for me at this point except for the squat. You’re right around the same weight as me if I’m remembering correctly? High 190’s? That’s an impressive bench

Thank you man, been a long time lurker in your log and am very impressed/inspired with how you’ve been killing it for so long. Thanks for checking out my log man

Not sure I want to log this as an actual lifting day or not, we’ll see once the weekend rolls around. It’s only been 5 days since my last DL session, and this one didn’t beat me up too much with the main work.

Actually I was thinking something similar for the program I’m going to run when I get back. The guy that wrote it is open to suggestions, as he’s just made an outline for the main work and is allowing me to sort of write in some supplemental/assistance stuff. He is straight up powerlifting focused so the lifting days are intense, but not a ton of variation. I think some widow makers would be awesome after some of the “easier” days.

@zeptrey I checked out BDWPNL2, it’s in the articles section. I am definitely going to be stealing some of the intensifiers he outlines. MYO reps seem awesome. Not sure how I’d work in the mTor stuff though… Maybe on db flys?

Hold the stretched position for a set amount of time then finish the set with your normal reps. Isn’t that the gist? You could do that for about all of your compound work except deads. To progress it just push the hold time.

Ah I see. So for instance doing pause squats, holding the pause for X amount of time, or pause bench etc?

Haven’t done a dinner picture in a while

Three 1/3lb raw weight patties, smoked cheddar, 3 pieces of bacon, tiny advocado, large salad with blue cheese

Yes sir. I think that’s what it is from what I remember. Then just progress the pause instead of the weight 10, 15, 20 seconds or whatever. Good change of pace anyway.
