Boilerman Wants It All

Not at all dude: you’re doing this EXACTLY right. You’re eating to recover from training, which is the function of nutrition. Your eating schedule sounds like what mine was like too: beat the clock. You’re doing awesome.

Thanks pwn, I’ll just keep right on the path I have been then.

I’ve considered tracking food for a couple days just to see where my calorie count is, but I don’t want to screw with anything. So far, intuitive eating has been working great for me so I don’t want to mess that up.

Dinner from Wednesday night. Strip steak finished with garlic and grass fed butter, shrimp with tajun, guacamole and some.vegetables. ended up eating more guacamole, with a spoon, out of the bowl. Then all the normal stuff after this… cheese, milk, peanut butter etc.

Squats later today… Had a service call last night so I didn’t get home until 10 pm. Had 7 scrambled eggs with cheese, 6 pieces of bacon and all the normal post dinner stuff after getting home.

My wife and I have been doing shrimp tacos at least once a week, cooking them in butter with Tajin and garlic. Holy shit is it good.

Oh yeah man, super tasty and super easy to make. Not to mention that shrimp are basically little protein bombs.

My only gripe with tajin is that it’s so easy to over-do it. It’s pretty overpowering, especially if you’re heavy handed like me, as seen in the picture haha.

I got one of those, with Strong(er) embossed on the back. It’s a great belt, but the only time I ever wear it is when I’m doing heavy moving stuff like yokes and farmer’s walks, or max deadlifts. I do all my normal training beltless.

That looks awesome

Yo boilerman. Are you going to share progress pics at the end of deepwater.

Good to know! I find myself wearing the belt more and more. I can actually use it with standing BB ohp and push presses, whereas before I was doing seated, which didn’t work. I definitely feel as though it helps with presses.

I just put mine on loose while doing almost everything else. It might be psychological but I feel like it helps me think about my brace more, even if the belt isn’t actually doing anything. I don’t think I’ll do that with the new belt, but if I see a drop in performance without the belt I may just sling on the old one every once and a while.

Thanks man! It was very good. Surf and turf is my favorite.

Ya man, I can. I was planning on just holding out until the end of transformation, but I can take a few before I take my vacation for the wedding. I’d like to lose a bit of stomach/lovehandle fat before I post pics. Shits tightening up a little bit now, but I think once I start restricting calories a bit (aka not eating everything in sight), the weight is going to come off pretty easily. I can’t really see the physical changes as of yet, but I don’t really inspect myself in the mirror. I can FEEL it though. During everyday movement it just feels different.

Pretty excited to actually aim towards losing weight, since I’ve been on a 3 year gain phase. My body/mind naturally wants to NOT eat so I feel like it’ll be a pretty easy transition.

Deadlift 3x10 at 295
Squat 10x10 at 235
Back extension 5x10 at BW
Planks and sit ups

Today was rough. Been a couple weeks since the last 10x10 squat day and it was apparent from set one that it was going to be a battle.

3 mins rest on DL and sets 1-7 of squats, 4 mins for the remaining sets of squats, 1 min between back extensions, no rest for ab shit.

I used the new belt and it was definitely different. Felt good, but stiff as hell. I’m sure once it gets broken in I’ll like it a lot more. I seem to be in between holes on it as well, so it’s either super tight or not quite tight enough. Just going to take some.getting used to.

Hah thanks dude, from one deepwater-er to another, that means a lot. It has been quite an experience so far.

Yeah, I talked elsewhere about the idea of using training as a method of breaking through the barriers that we unconsciously set for ourselves, and DW did that for me better than any other program I’ve done, because nearly every fucking week I had the thought “can I do this” before my workout.

Christ, 5/3/1 is going so smoothly, and I see you hitting DW again and it’s so tempting to dive back in, haha.

Thats exactly the reason I wanted to run the program. My presses especially have been stagnant for a long time, so I wanted to flip them on their head and just do something crazy to see if they’d move. I’m not sure if I wasn’t working hard enough or the mentality just wasn’t there on those days, probably a little bit of both tbh. Deepwater seriously forces you to tap into something that you weren’t quite sure you had.

110%. The 10x10 days, and squat in particular take over my brain from the second I get home from work on Fridays. I find myself procrastinating to start the workouts because I’m scared shitless haha. I don’t WANT to endure the pain and stress, but I just tell myself it’ll be good for me so I have to. I ate enough, rested and I should be able to hit the lifts so there isn’t anything to be stressed about. I basically act like I am not running deepwater throughout the work week because I don’t want to added stress on top of everything going on right now. Tues-thurs I’m just a normal guy who eats a shitload of food.

However, these next 4 weeks… I do not know what to think. I honestly haven’t given them much thought because they are going to suck so, so, so badly. I just tell myself I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

The more the merrier! You’re running svr II right? I had my eye on that template for a while, it looks pretty badass.

I think deepwater is going to become a yearly thing for me. A huge slap in the face, telling me to wake the fuck up and work. Plus, eating whatever I want is cool… Especially when I don’t get fat hah.

Push Press 10x10 at 115
BB curl 5x10 at 80
Planks and sit ups

Super happy with today. Ended up hitting 10x10 at 115, which is a huge improvement from last week. Took 4 full minutes between sets. Last set was not pretty, but I got all ten locked out. Curls were still super cheat-y.

I am absolutely starving.

Edit: I’ll throw up a vid of set 9 of push presses if anyone is even slightly interested. I haven’t been uploading vids because I feel like people don’t give a shit about them haha. I take them to check out form and see where I can make improvements.

I would be interested in a vid. That looks like a good session man…between you and pwn and getting my hands on a copy of deep water, i am strongly considering taking it on once i get my barbell set up put together. I wont have a squat rack right away though so im not totally sure what to do about that. But thats niether here nor there right now

Ya man for sure

That’s set 9. My main critique is the lockouts. For some reason locking out my elbows at the top makes my shoulders feel like shit?

Also, I 100% think doing deepwater is a good idea. If you look back through @flappinit log he made some squat and bench stands out if lumber, some concrete and 5 gallon buckets. So if you’re dead set on doing it soon, that’s an easy way to at least get something started until you find some stands.
