Boilerman Wants It All

Yeah - they get like that. I’d like to say it great easier. But it doesn’t.

Haven’t weighed myself in a while, clocked in at 212 last night so I’m actually down a few lbs. Didn’t weigh myself this morning but my best guess would be 209-210ish.

Lifting belt is now comfortable on 2nd hole, so some bloat is gone, and maybe even a little back fat. Not sure what my plan is after this anchor, I may switch up from Leviathan, but if I stay on, it’ll be for PRs across the board.

Some very, very serious squatting.

I’ve been feeling this too on squat and FS days. Need to get out of my own head.

Probably a good thing to feel this once in awhile for a limited amount of time. Then go back to something where you dominate the weight. Build the confidence, express it, outgrow it, rinse, lather, repeat. Kickass work in here man.

Thanks @jdm135 and @garagerocker13

Yeah I can not see myself sustaining this intensity for long. My hamstrings are beat up today and getting around at work has been brutal. I may take it a bit easy this week on the lower body PR sets and try to crush week 3 before another deload… Or just go for broke and go for PRs all around… we’ll see how I’m feeling tomorrow.

Yeah, just the thought of being THAT uncomfortable is enough for my hands to start shaking and stuff. I got under the bar 3 times before I unracked it because I was second guessing myself. The actual recorded video of that set was like 5-6 mins long haha.

This looks like the smarter option to me :metal:

Yeah - squat is funny like that. It hurts like nothing else. And its worse that deadlift as there is no relief. The weights on your back. It’s not getting off until your rack it. Deadlift you at least get that split second the weight is on the floor.
I get really nervous about squat - so I tend to focus in the process. Like:
Last time I did 6 for 250. Since then I have eat enough, I have slept enough. I’ve done everything right. There is no reason I cant be 5lbs stronger.

OHP wasn’t terrible today. Used a belt for the first time this program on ohp, felt ok. Flared elbows a touch more than normal and it didn’t seem to hurt me so I may continue doing it. Deadlift coming up either tomorrow or Wednesday.

I feel like this is applicable to lower body stuff for the most part… but upper body stuff is just so damn hard to get moving and be excited about. I personally lose all confidence on the warmups for upper body stuff lol. Like “oh shit… Here we go again with this garbage…”

I’ve been curious about the importance of elbow position. Like on BTN press of course they are wide, but on press we keep them pointing forward as much as possible. Is flare an injury risk? Does it recruit a different muscle? Or just change the leverage somehow?

Funny how this works. I believe I’m the opposite. The warmup sets of squats and FS scare me for the worksets. On upper body it just doesn’t register the same…

Tbh I have no clue, I haven’t ever done behind the neck presses, or really any variation of presses other than with DBs. At this point I’m just throwing the kitchen sink at it hoping there will be some sort of revelation and all of a sudden I’ll be good at it haha.

Thinking about it now, more flare may use more lats?

Yeah idk man, I definitely am not ever looking forward to lower body amraps, but I’m pretty confident in my ability to grind on lower body stuff. I know for a fact when my last rep is on upper body amrap stuff, there is no grinding out more reps. Once the bar slows down, that’s all I have in me. I’ve felt stuck on bench and press for a long long time and it’s demoralizing coming into the working sets knowing full well they’ll be shitty. Just my opinion on it tho.

No assistance today, starting work early and getting out late the past couple weeks so I’ve been starting to lift later and later. Might hit an extra day for assistance on the weekend.

320 felt great. A bit slow on rep 13 but I’m 99.99% sure I had another 2-3 left in me. Still a PR, so I’m very happy with it.

Feeling really, really shitty about the lack of pressing progress. Cut assistance way back because benching put me in a terrible mood. Not having a great past couple of weeks. Lifting normally makes me feel great, but bench and ohp days make me feel like I’m failing… because I am.

I tried some weighted pullups with my new dip belt attachment (landmine and BB row attachment coming whenever they decide to process my order) after benching and I was pleasantly surprised. Got to BW+60lbx2. Took a video, but I got a new phone so I have to find my login to youtube, I’ll upload it later. A little bit of help from my legs on the second rep though.

That’s a good place to be on pullups!
Weighted pullups give you a new direction to grow, too.

That was my thinking as well. I may shift focus a bit away from flat bench and BB ohp the next few cycles. Incline press and DB ohp maybe. Not too sure yet.

I think getting proficient in the stuff I suck at will help bring up a lot of areas I’m struggling… Maybe to bring up bench and press I need to not press and bench and work on weak areas.

This looks pretty cool…

Just read your link. It does look cool… so simple… and has the same L1, U1, L2, U2 structure as GMM.

On the other end of the volume spectrum, earlier I was wondering what it would be like to do 10x10 incline presses at my 3/50 weight.

I say go for it. Try it all and see what works. It’s not like it’s going to make you weaker, plus all that volume will prob lead to some size if done for a long enough time.

I just don’t think I’ve found my formula yet for continual upper body gains yet. It seems like high volume isn’t working for me, based on the BBS for ohp and SSL for bench.

Squat and DL, however, I can do whatever the hell I want. Whether I like it or not they keep going up.

Db flys and BPAs for assistance.

Squat felt really heavy today. Arms fell asleep last night and I was getting shooting pain up the left, that hasn’t happened in a while. I think flat benching may be taking a long hiatus in this log. I pushed the PR set about 95%, I’m guessing I had 1-2 reps left in me, but they would’ve been grinders. Will upload vids later.

Edit CAUTION LOUD MUSIC IN THE VIDS, didn’t know it’s come through so loud. I apologize ahead of time
