He’s doing well thanks for asking! Always hungry, always wanting to be held and talked to. Im trying to take full advantage of the time with him since I only have a few days before I go back to work. I can’t believe he’s almost a month old already.

It’s been a while since I did a food post, and this is a good one!

Bought a small brisket a few days ago. I’ve never cooked one and am still learning how to smoke on the Weber kettle. I did a 24hr dry brine after trimming it and then smoked it on the grill with Jack Daniels wood chips and charcoal. It is just a small (3.25lb) flat with very little marbling, but came out great! I learned some lessons that I’ll implement for next time- but for now I’m just enjoying eating it!

Once your kid’s old enough to start eating your cooking, he’ll be extremely well-fed lol

I can’t wait to cook some stuff up for the little fella!

Grilling and the love of meat one awesome thing that my grandfather passed down to my dad, which has been passed down to my brother and I… We’ll see if it carries on!

Wow- I can’t believe it’s been over a week since I’ve lifted.

I am back to work this week, and immediately back to on-call as well, so time has been quite limited after work. Regularly waking at 330 to take care of the little dude and essentially staying up until I head into work at 630. It’s becoming a bit more normal, so I may toy with morning lifting within the next few days. I’m getting around 4-5.5 hours of sleep a night, most of which is uninterrupted, so all things considered it’s not absolutely horrible. Worst case scenario, I’m going to hop back into the 10k swing challenge, since the days take 30-40 minutes. I have no reason why I can’t fit that into my schedule.

I am still sitting around 202lb, and given my very minimal lifting/conditioning/cardio this past month+ I’m in a pretty good spot. I think once I’m regularly lifting and getting my tdee back up to normal levels, fat is going to burn off fairly easily.

Glad to hear the kid is doing well! That brisket looks tasty, going to give my first tritip a run this weekend. Grabbed one from Wegmans yesterday and didn’t look at the price, was $50, so I’m a little scared I’m going to f it up lol

Yeah the brisket was very good- I didn’t let it rest long enough unfortunately, but it still came out pretty great!

Tritip is awesome, I got one from piedmontese on my last order and did it in the oven, it came out very, very good. You planning on smoking it?

Nah, I don’t have a smoker (waiting to settle down somewhere before making that purchase), I haven’t decided if grill or oven will be the call but I’m leaning towards grill at this point.

Nice! I just set my grill up as a smoker for the brisket, put a aluminum pan with water under the meat and did a snake of charcoal with hardwood interspersed throughout. It was a little bit of a pain to control temp but once it was steady I just let it rock. Might be worth looking into?

No matter what, be sure to put some pics up bro!

Physique update

Significant fat loss in the abs/extremities this past month. Waiting for the lower back fat to start disappearing, though. I think the last time I was this lean was about two years ago. I’m going to keep pushing it.

Boilerman is tired, but the reps are there so I’m taking them. I’ve been averaging 4.5 hours of sleep a night and hitting overtime. Stomach has been off the past couple days but seems to be on the mend. Plan going forward is a wed, fri, sun lifting schedule and sprinkle in some quick conditioning shit when convenient.

Keep on crushin’ it!

Ehhh, it’s a solid block of time thankfully, so it’s not as bad as it seems. If it were broken up throughout the night I think it’d be way worse. But thanks dude! I really appreciate it!
