I have a few spare minutes at work to breathe, so a quick update is incoming…
Hollyyyy shhieetttt I’ve been busy. Work has been pretty nuts, immediately getting home and busting stuff out on the house, including remodeling the room for the baby coming in a few months. Also, I’m preparing to open my own HVAC service side-gig for night/weekend calls. Stuff should hopefully die down a bit between now and summer.
Diet has been about as good as it can be, but I have to find a way to eat more as it seems my weight has stagnated at 225. My guts hate me, and I am still constantly full and bloated. I hate it, but this is my life for the next few weeks.
I’m closing in on the hallway point of the program, and I should be hitting day 7 on Sunday. I know this isn’t quite how it’s written, but it is what it is. I may need some extra recovery days once the squats ramp up though.
I’m really looking forward to veering back into 531 and squats, DLs, pressing and benching. I will likely do a test week for some TMs before starting 531, because who the hell knows where my strength is right now on those lifts.
Woke up at 222 this morning, which is quite surprising. I know weight fluctuates etc etc but I feel as though I’m getting into a deepwater situation where I eat and eat but don’t put on weight/lose weight. I’m going to roll with it for a week or so and see what happens. If I’m at or below 222 by next week, I need to add food in some way.
Having a spotter is definitely comforting, do you have safeties set up? If not, I’d ask the wife to help, she should only be pulling the last few pounds anyway. If she can’t either tip the bar (with clips off) or do the roll of shame. I did it with like 310 on the bar, had sore ribs for a bit, do not recommend.
TL;DR you’re going to hit the lift
I hear the finger lakes has one good spotter if you drive out of your way by a few hours lol
I do have the spotter arms set up, and have had to use them on bench before. My only concern is if something goes wrong and if I fail the bar doesn’t drop onto the arms- but your right. I’m gonna hit the lift, haha. Maybe spotter arms and no clips = no worries.

Previous bench 1RM was 245 back in august. First rep flew up, second was a grind. I’m pretty happy with this kind of progress. I know I could hit over 255 for a single.
I’m jumping the gun on a few of these lifting days due to having the opportunity, I just have to be ok with potentially underperforming and grinding through some shit. This was rough, specifically the complexes.
I have two racks of beef ribs seasoned and ready to be cooked tonight. They’re going to be awesome.
Batwings are explained in the MMS book, but I recall watching a video on YouTube of him having someone perform the movement as he explains it. I’ll edit this post with it when I find it.
It’s kind of like a chest supported DB retraction row with a long hold at the top.
