I’ve been away from your log for a while, and it seems I’ve missed A LOT. Will try to catch up better soon. Still a boss I see.

Thanks for dropping in dude, I’ve been trying to keep up on a lot of logs but have been bad about commenting and general enthusiasm lately. I’m super happy to see you’ve hit the 3 plate squat by the way. On to the deadlift now!

Pretty pissed about missing the 4th rep of that third set of bench, but such it is what it is. I fought for it which turned out to be a mistake. Benching is feeling slow relative to when I was doing BtM, but I guess a drop i bodyweight will do that.

I feel like this program may not show me I’m getting stronger right away… but I feel bigger. Triceps, quads, traps, delts and hammies are feeling SUPER solid right now which is promising.

Haha I don’t know, man. You had quite the cut of meat in your log.

Damn that food looks banging. Don’t worry about the missed rep too much. Sometimes when I miss one I’ll just do a rest pause or add a set.

Okay, I don’t get it. How tf do you afford/have the time to get all these amazing dinners? I am so hungry every time I take a look at your posts lol

Hey dude, to be 100% honest, it’s just a priority for me/my expenses. I don’t really have anything wild I spend money on other than food and lifting equipment, which has become increasingly rare for me to buy. I wouldn’t say I’m frugal by any means, but a lot of the stuff that people pay for such as remodeling or landscaping is done by my wife and I which saves us a ton of money (I know you get into it too, that kitchen you did was awesome). I enjoy doing it and I feel like it keeps me out of trouble, haha. But, that also means I don’t watch much TV or play videogames, and have a tough time fitting in lifting sometimes.

I do some side work as well, which is nice, and my current job pays me enough that as long as I’m smart, I can afford the stuff that matters to me. I’m taking a little bit of a pay cut going into the new job, but all I have to do is cut out some unnecessary shit I buy and I’ll be able to continue doing what I’m doing.

I spend time shopping around for either inexpensive cuts like chuck steaks or stuff that’s on sale/on special. A lot of the time when I know I’m low on meat I’ll just swing by the store on the way home. If it has the quick sale sticker on it and is decently priced, it’s mine. If not, I’ll come back another day. Also, it was recommended by someone on Tnation that I go check out Walmarts beef. It is surprisingly pretty decent and less expensive than where we normally get our groceries.

As far as time is concerned, not killing myself with work has done wonders for me. I’m home by 430-5 every day, and with the new job I should be out by 3pm. Cooking only takes an hour or so at night and dishes are quick because we have a system. Everything I make is super simple and easy. I’m also lucky that my wife is a good cook and she makes extra for me to have, on top of whatever I make.

I guess all of that was to say- it’s a priority for me both in terms of time and finances. It may not be like this forever (kids, etc) but I have the opportunity now, so I just make the best of what I’m able to do.

@atlas13 also, I don’t post up 90% of what I eat haha. The ground beef mountain on top of a salad or plate full of eggs aren’t as photogenic as the the other stuff. My mid day meal is incredibly boring, too.

Appreciate you taking the time for such a detailed write up.

Hearing you say it like that, it makes sense. Definitely seems a bit costly, but honestly still probably a far cheaper option than eating out, and how many people do you know who do that multiple times a week? I normally do my grocery shopping at Walmart solely because of how cheap I can buy packs of chicken, but I haven’t really checked out the red meats all that much. It’s still a treat for us to eat something like steaks, so when we do get ribeye or whatever, I tend to find a local butcher and get a nice cut. Might be worth my time to see what I can get my hands on beef wise at Walmart.

The time aspect is what is really the killer for me. I just don’t have a lot of it. Work keeps me pretty dang busy as is, so an hour in the evening to cook food takes up most of my free time for the day if I have to fit in training too. I wouldn’t mind the cooking really, but that hit out of time I get to spend just having quality time with my wife? That’s a tough sell for me.

I generally have a massive meal prep day once a week, and then just live out of microwaved food containers until the next week. Lots of chicken, rice, and frozen vegetables. Not gourmet by any means, but honestly it can be pretty dang tasty and super quick, while knocking out any nutritional concerns I have in order to keep my progress moving in the direction I like. So it works, but it’s not exactly exciting lol. I think as life slows down, I will definitely take a page out of your book and start cooking myself a true dinner every night, if for nothing else than to satisfy my cravings.

Today was my last day as a service technician. Monday/Tuesday is paperwork and turning in tools/the van, so it’s a reality now. Wednesday, I’ll be a “director of facilities”.

Deadlifts were not fun in any way, but they’re moving decently well. I increased the deficit I’m pulling from hoping to keep the weight down a bit, but that didn’t quite work.

I’m pumped to be on the cusp of weeks 9-12.
