Return the favor by running the program someday and documenting it like you have done so far. I love having all this data
Shoot me an email here, it’s a throwaway for this account and I’ll email you back from my main account. I don’t really want to post the main up because it’s my full name
Sent it your way
Back squat
135x10
225x5
275x4
315x3
345x2
385x1
405x1 (10lb PR)
225x20, no lockout
I had a bit too much forward lean with 405. I was doing really well sitting back on the descent up until that point, though. They felt pretty locked in.
Really wasn’t feeling the rep work but I still wanted to put myself into an uncomfortable position. I might do the full squat day tomorrow and just take it easy on the overwarmup.I got out of work late and wanted to get lifting in before making dinner with the wifey for Valentine’s day.
I’ve read about 1/3 of beyond between last night and this morning before work and had a chance to take a quick glance at the GVT program in it. I certainly like the look of it, and I also like how open ended Jim was with the weights on the 10x10 work. It seems like a great alternative, so thanks again @SvenG and @T3hPwnisher. I think that’s the program I’ll be going with.
nice work
Nice work! 4 plates is big time. Your depth is looking is improved, overall looking great. How’s it feeling?
Awesome PR, dude! Congratulations.
Also awesome!
That PR looked solid dude! Excited to see how things go for you from here.
That’s awesome dude!! Huge milestone!!
@throwawayfitness thank you man, nice to see you posting again
@heretolog thanks man, it feels way better. I can feel myself hitting depth much easier and it looks like it’s pretty powerful out of the hole, so all in all pretty good. I still have to watch my forward lean, but I think more time with heavier weights will help with that.
@SvenG thanks dude!
@T3hPwnisher thanks dude, I’m “excited” for this next high volume block.
@wanna_be thank you dude, 5 plates here I come
Sea scallops with cauliflower mushroom risotto with truffle spread… and a whack ass microwaved bacon heart that we do every year.
The Boilerman has reached a new PR!!!
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Haha yeah dude! You’ll be hitting it for 20 in a few weeks haha
We’ll just have to see about that. I’m excited to see you run this The Fatherland in Beyond template, dude the 10x10 sounds really interesting to me (cause it reminds me of deep water) . I just might have to copy you again later on. I like hearing about all these templates and programs, I’m going to keep running the hardest ones.
Yeah man I’m excited to run it and I also thought of deepwater when I saw it. The tempo stuff will be new to me, so the weights will have to reflect that. I think honing in a bit on MMC will help me in the long run though. Too often I’ve found myself just brute forcing it and not caring what muscles I’m using to move the weight.
I’m likely not going to run it verbatim because I’d like to add arm work and other accessories (might steal the accessory work from the GVT program) if recovery allows, and will stick to a literal 5, 3 and 1 rep top set, too. Plus I really like the idea of the 100 rep sets the day following a lifting day I’ve been doing lately…
Same, dude. I think there is a time and place for cruising and slowly working up, but I don’t think I’m ready to be there just yet. This past year has brought me the most success so far, and I’ve trained harder than any year prior so it seems to work. Lots of deepwater, lots of heavy reps, lots of food.
And we have definitely seen the fruits of your labor Boilerman. I sure as heck don’t plan on cruising either, I’d feel like I’d be wasting time. Unless my mental health was screwed or I’m injured then I’d be winding down but, for now nahhhh. I’m really starting to get a feel of what training is supposed to be and it sucks but, damn does it give results.
This is why, wherever I hear people say they love training, it makes me wonder
Dude, tell me about it! I’m about to turn 32 and I don’t see myself slowing down at any point soon. I have some good years left in me, and I’ll be damned if I don’t get strong by the time my body starts breaking down.
Yes, exactly. I feel the same way!
I love it when you young whippersnappers talk this way—heck yeah you do!
Very nice job on the Squat PR young man. Quality
