I know quite a few people that have been locked up, and they don’t allow weights at county jails in NJ. Prisoners did tons of pushups, situps, and pullups, as much as they could. They came up with other ways to work out as well, because their lives somewhat depend on it. Inside, size equals respect.

The last documentery I watched showed a guy getting his head caved in with a barbell and that was the end of the workout equipment at that particular prison. Now they bench press picnic tables. Not sure if it was NJ.
Size equals respect…That certainly held true at the last factory job I had which kinda felt like a prison lol.

Haha, man, that’s funny what you said about the kitchen thing- one guy I know did just that, and got up to about 240 because he could eat all he wanted.
Unfortunately he broke his hand in a fight… then stirring shit for 12 hours turned out to be more labor than he though.

Exactly
The reason that there are or arent weights in Prison on the Federal level is called the Zimmer Law, this law banned Porn, supplements, Weights, etc. from prisons, the rule behind this was-when it breaks, its trash, so if your facility didnt have a welding shop-the equipment was garbage once it broke.
Your higher level facilities almost never have any free weight, typically a few machines in-house, and a yard with Pushup/pullup/dip areas. The commissary is coordinated by the inmates on a ‘council’, there are some serious dudes on this, and then your 90% joker motherfuckers that only want 800 kinds of candy, and some faggot tennis shit!
It is true you can grow in prison, in the right places, tuna, mackeral, ramen, brown rice, etc are all available on commisary, at one time even protein powder was on commissary. If you know someone in the kitchen, your nutrition automatically gets elevated, but always at a cost.
Leavenworth actually had 2 full weight rooms, one inside one outside up until about 4 years ago from what i heard, i talked to a friend that was still there and they had removed everything (which to many of us fortunate enough to dedicate some of our precious lives to) were a savior because of the black market of steriods, drugs and bs that were lumped together with regular suplements being carted in.
It is true you can get big, it is true that there are some jacked dudes locked up, it is also true 90% of inmates are in bad shape and dont give a shit. However i will state that the absolute strongest men i have ever personally seen were in Leavenworth, Ks (inmates), and there were a couple that were quality. Ive seen a 785 bench, a couple squats over a grand, and that in itself is not to be looked down upon. This is only a sample, but most of the quotes above in this thread are off base.

To say that I doubt you saw a raw 785 bench and multiple 1000 squats, would be a massive understatement, unless of course the bench was an invisible 5board and the squat was an invisible 54" box.
It’s one thing to believe that there are strong dudes in prison, there’s no reason to doubt this. It is another thing entirely to try and convince people that apparently the strongest human beings to ever walk this planet(those would absolutely SHATTER the raw world records currently held) are in prison seems pretty faulty.
Thats on you to deny, i know what ive seen, so you can take it as it is.
A couple over a grand? Sorry homey. That’s bullshit.

If you make up fake lifts, at least look at the actual raw world records first.
Or are you now going to tell us that they’ve got multi-ply equipment in there?

Monolifts are a fundamental right, too. Troll v. United States, 633 U.S. 786 (2009).

Nah dude, I’ve got this cousin, who’s friend’s father knows this monkey, who’s worked with this girl, who knows a couple figure skaters who I’ve seen bench press a Ford F350, squat a passenger train car, and squeeze a lump of coal so hard that it became a diamond.
Clearly figure skaters are the strongest people on planet earth.
Deny it if you want.

So is anger. Either way, unless someone has a driving force behind their actions…something that pushes them to keep going when everything in their body is telling them to quit, there is no way someone can reach their full potential.
And let’s face it, most of the people who log in here don’t seem to have that kind of fire motivating them. They will waste time getting bogged down in “theory” but when it comes to giving everything they have in the gym, the way they look shows they just don’t have it.
That is what guys in prison have…some form of motivation, at least when it comes to the ones who actually are fairly built.
All people here seem to have is excuses.[/quote]
Very inspirational post!

I laughed hard.
Off topic, but I fucking hate when someone who’s clearly lying says’ shit like “Thats on you to deny, i know what ive seen, so you can take it as it is.”, as if that somehow validates their bullshit or is gonna change the fact that you know they’re fucking lying.

hahah yup.
I saw a shark fly by and shoot down an F-16 the other day with a bazooka. It’s on you if you don’t believe me.

Shane Hamman has the IPF record with 1008lbs in a single-ply suit. You’re telling me they can match his record, and do it raw even?
Oh, to add to this discussion. I work in a prison. We have tons of weights in our gym. I’m even told by the inmates that they can get protein powder through commissary. Despite this, I’ve seen maybe half a dozen who look like bodybuilders, and this is out of approx. 2,500 inmates. I always laugh inside when I see articles describing how jacked inmates are.
I work at a county jail in Florida, and we have weights but they are welded so that more weight can’t be added and are set in different increments like 95,135,185,225, we have the dip stations and the dirt tracks for cardio. Inside the blocks the guys will do pushups, dips on the railings, pull ups off the stairs, and use garbage bags filled with water, and placed in a mesh laundry bag, and a rolled up newspaper for a handle to do curls with. Food consists of mostly carb based oatmeal, grits, biscuits, bread, lots of pasta with minimal protein thrown in, some mornings are 2 eggs, some a cup of scrambled eggs. Like was said they can buy tuna off commissary but mostt= of them buy candy like cheetos, cookies, honey buns, crap food. Most of the guys I see are small and scrawny but they are coming off the street as transients or methheads or crack addicts, so when they stay in for 90 days and get regular meals and some decent food they put on a lot of weight quicklyadd to it some exercise since that is all they can do, and most people will think they are getting huge. Funny thing is guys who stay for longer actually start to get skinny fat and I am guessing it is because of the high amounts of sugars and carbs they get.

Shit, I’m staying inside then…
Back to the original topic,
Give credit where credit is due. The guys in prison make due with what they have. A lot of people on here are using AAS and all types of supplements and are barely surpassing 405 lbs. bench presses and 550 lbs. squats.
Of course, the ones that bodybuild do not have comparable physiques to Ronnie Colemans and Jay Cutlers but to them, they’re accomplishing something meaningful…so let them have their glory. There probably ain’t shit else for them behind the walls…
