Bodybuilding Fads 'n Scams?

Try ProYo:

*It’s much better than Halo Top, imo. It tastes just like Ice Cream.

What flavor did you have?

I’m telling you guys, try the ProYo.

I thought the halo top was alright tasting, but it is also less filling, so I have a tendency to go through a whole pint at once, whereas with, say, ben and jerrys, I usually stop much sooner. So I don’t really see an advantage to halo top, given that (unless i’m missing something) the only benefit is that it’s low cal, right?

I thought it was the added protein (like 5-7g a serving)?

yea i saw that. but comparing it to some other ice creams, that was a minimal difference. like only 2-3g more than usual. which is basically nothing. Regardless, 5-7g of protein, period, is not particularly relevant to the overall diet equation. the issue with ice cream for dieting purposes has never been ‘if only this snack had a few more grams of protein’, ya know?

like, I see people act like they can’t touch regular ice cream, but they’re slamming pints of halo top like it’s nothing while cutting.

I am the exact opposite. ha. I eat a whole Ben and Jerries cause I can’t put it down. Whereas, HaloTop I get bored after 1/3 of it. The only flavor I’ve really liked so far was Smores.

Vanilla Bean - I don’t like ice cream with stuff in it. Simple is where it’s at for me.

To me, Halo Top has a kind of malt flavor to it that is a bit off putting at first. It’s going to be more noticeable in something as simple as vanilla bean, so I see your point.

Understandable, I’ve noticed the 240cal flavours are the worst. Birthday Cake is probably the best flavour for you, it tastes like vanilla whilst actually being creamy.

Does anyone still believe in the “Anabolic Window” following a workout?

I still make sure to eat something pretty soon after a good lifting workout, but I’ve become less concerned about speed of absorption. I just make it the time that I eat carbs.

Just supplement companies and kids in the beginner section.

A brewery opened up across from my gym. That’s much anabolic supercharge on fridays

Alan Aragon and Brad Shoenfeld conclude (in the paper below) that having some protein before and after training (.5g/kg LBM total) doesn’t hurt, and may maximize hypertrophy. But they say theres no definitive proof either way because it hasn’t been studied consistently enough.

So basically eat food. Train with weights.

If there’s a window then it’s much bigger than originally reported. I’ve gathered a couple of things that I try to implement:

  1. the body can use 40g of protein at a time.
  2. protein before and after training seems to help

I try to get 30-40g of protein before and after training. Lucky for me I don’t like training with a lot of food in my stomach so eating post-workout isn’t a problem. I’m usually starving.

So im presuming you dont eat mid training? Sometimes id pack a sandwich or some bananas and take a five minute break through training lol. Unfortunately it’d make me more likely to throw up.

Do not do it before prowler!!!

I have no idea how people can eat or drink anything during training. I keep hearing it’s the bee’s pajamas, and all I can wonder is how long the rest times are and how they can keep from puking.
