Besides the fact body builders get into gay suit and pose. Power lifers move mass wieght and have the mass muscle to pose if they dieted down but are above posing. Yea it really does not matter.[/quote]
LOL at being “above posing”.
I can’t even remember the last time there was intelligent debate here with people who actually trained seriously and had experience instead of just repeating what they read somewhere.

OR maybe he can keep doing what he has been that has led to gaining as much muscle as he has.

Thanks Prof.
I love the way people try to avoid progress by claiming allegiance with every possible subgroup.
“I can’t get big because it slows down my MMA skillz, but I can’t get ripped because I need functional strength…” etc
It’s a nice easy excuse to continue being mediocre in EVERYTHING.
THATS cross fit mediocre in everything
Jokes are only FUN if they’re funNY.
Edit: Double post.
BTW, what about olympic lifters?

Oly lifting is just a different name for weightlifting, I believe? Or were you referring to something else?

I was just asking the OP where it fit into his whole scheme as it seemed to be missing from any of his descriptions.
In the end, isn’t it all just a different name for weightlifting?

Where are all of these professional MMA fighters and athletes on this board? With all of this talk about “functionality” and how everyone is suddenly a fighter, you would think at least some large number of these people had something to show for it?
Instead, we have a few hundred (thousand?) people who are wannabe athletes but aren’t even motivated enough to actually play any sports…yet THIS is the reason they avoid making any gains?

No in the end it isnt just all another name for weightlifting. If someones says there gonna go to the gym and lift weights thats what there doing but there long term goals reflect the type of lifting one does.
I want to get big by lifting the heaviest weights possible while looking relatively lean. I have the most fun when I’m lifting heavy. I hate doing any exercise for reps above 6. So even thought the powerlifting programs look the most tempting to me, I don’t want to look like the stereotypical powerlifter. The best example of what is ideal for me would be the physique and strength of Mariusz Pudzianowski. I guess he falls into all of the above.
Does no one else lift because they like training? To me a goal like powerlifting, or strong man, or bodybuilding, or even looking good naked, or football are all just justification for what I like to do. They are all just an excuse to train.

When you have had a rough week, you wake up with a minor headache after getting 5 hours of sleep the night before and are seriously debating just skipping that workout entirely, what gets you out of bed is NOT your “like of training”. It is your desire to gain more or to avoid letting yourself slide backwards.
Those who simply like to train skip days like that. They don’t drive to the gym during a hurricane warning or try to see if their SUV can make it through that 4 inches of flood water. That is also why the majority of the people in the country claim they train “off and on”. I can’t say that. I have never trained “off”. It is that way because I want progress even more than I “like to train”.
