Does anyone know off-hand (pref. at the university level) an expert in body comp testing? I am conducting a project and need to determine muscle mass to the pound on an individual basis (or as close as possible). I am willing to travel X-country and pay for ACCURATE testing.
Search out the universities in your area with Kinesiology/Human Kinetics/Phys-Ed programs. Some may be doing research that involves body comp testing.
Look for a DEXA scanner or a place that does hydrostatic weighing.
I don’t know where you are, but the University of Guelph, in Guelph, Ontario, does hydrostatic testing (I’m correct in that’s the submersion test I believe) at their health and performance centre.
UNLV does hydro as well. http://www.unlv.edu/faculty/golding/bodycomp.html
Since we’re giving specific locations (even though we don’t know where you’re from) I’ll tell you that McMaster University in Hamilton has a DEXA machine. It is more accurate than hydrostatic weighing, but I’m not sure how likely you’ll be to get a scan done for free.
