Ok so I think i figured out why I had no energy at the gym yesterday… I have caught that cold thats going around. Last night I started having a sore throat and woke up this morning feeling awful. It sucks. My fiance has had it for a little over a week and I had managed not to catch it. Yesterday she is pretty much back to full strength and then thats why I get it… ooooooof course!

So probably no gym for me today even though I want to go. I should do the smart thing and rest up today so that I can kick this stupid thing.

I hate getting sick. Get your multi-vitamins in and drink a shitload of juice with vitamin C(bolsters immune system) and you should be alright. haha. I can’t wait for it to warm up here so I don’t have to worry about getting sick (it was ~40 today).

In other news:
I applied for a “Gladiator” position for a local adventure race called The Spartan Race. I sent in some pictures to fill the roll of “Gladiators” who are supposed to work the race and pump people up. It was $25 an hour for like 6 hours on saturday and I never heard anything back after the second round of pictures/questions. Well the guy from the advertising agency just emailed me back saying he’d like me to work it but I already have plans. Damn! I could have used an extra couple hundred bucks

As far as my average time for the workout is concerned, it really all depends. If I’m doing extra conditioning work or something I could spend anywhere 90 minutes to 2 hours? If I’m just doing my lifting I can get it all done under an hour probably? I take pretty short rest periods unless it’s bench or squat on the heavier sets.

I’ve never actually timed myself at the gym, as far as total time goes, but I just get in, do what i gotta do, and get going. If I feel like after 3 exercises a bodypart is done for the day then I’ll stop then. If I think I need one or two more exercises then I’ll go for it. I really just play it by how I feel ya know?

WF - Thanks man. My arms are deceptive. I have really thick triceps and but my bi’s arent very big. I think I’m pretty triceps dominant in my pressing movements so my tris are really thick. I need to work on my bi’s cause they’re definitely way behind my tri’s… but that also probably has to do with the fact that I dislike doing curls.

Masch - Thanks but talk about gunz!?! Look at your avi. Yeah the Gladiator thing is kinda lame but whatever. I probably could have gotten some cool pics out of it though.

DF - That would be funny if I went in and just started batteling the other gladiators for real. I would throw out so many “300” style chest kicks

Bug - I’ll work on it. I actually dont own any gladiator attire, although I did dress as a biker for a costume party once. I wore a viking wig and beard which was a great look IMO.

Pic of my biker costume for the LULz. That frilly jean vest was so damn small (probably would have fit my calfs) I had to cut slits down the side so i could move.

Ok so on to my workout for today. I wasnt going to go cause of my cold but i woke up feeling ok so I decided to try a little somethin’ somethin’

Legs:

warmed up shooting hoops and then tried a few jumps. I was getting the same height and grabbing rim on every one of my jumps which was nice but I was gassed after the first jump. This cold kinda worked me over today

Then went outside for some squats.
225 x 10
275 x 8
315 x 5, 5, 5 (<–video of the last 5)
365 x 1 (felt like poop. I was so gassed already)
225 x 24 (<-- was inspired by DF’s tricep destroyer thing and was going to get 25 reps but I lost count. Video of this as well)

There was a bar lying around set up for deadlifts so I decided to try some out. Went for some sumo’s and they felt ok. Never had done them before but was inspired by Liquid Mercurys log.

405 x 1. It didnt feel heavy but some guy started talking to me right as I was going to pull. He through off my concentration and I didnt stay tight. It didnt feel very heavy at all but i just kinda wobbled around. Damn it!

EDIT: After watching that video again… Ughhhhh! “You Gee El Why! You aint got no alibi you ugly! yeah yeah you ugly!”

Then i finished off my legs with some walking lunges.

135 x 10, 10, 9 (<–video of this one, Misjudged my room and only got 4 on the way towards the camera then 5 on the way back.)

all in all it was a pretty good workout considering I wasnt feeling that great. Critique away on the vids you guys. Definitely going to have to work on some stuff here soon.

yeah the outdoor gym is pretty awesome. They dont care if you are shoeless out there or even shirtless. When its sunny out you can get your tan and pump on at the same time.

I know the little dip thing your talking about and I’ve always had that. I dont really know why? I’ve tried lots of different set ups and things but it just doesnt go away. any suggestions on how to correct that?

But to answer your question, No i dont have any low back problems from squatting with that little hitch thing. I never have and would like to keep it that way :slight_smile:

EDIT: After re watching the videos I think I might know why. I think i’m pretty glute dominant in my squats. Maybe my glutes are firing a lot more than everything else? i’ve got quite the ghetto booty (or so I’m told) so maybe my glutes are taking over and firing first? I dont know… just grasping as straws here lol

hahaha yeah. He was a nice enough guy but come on bro… just wait till I’m done lifting to start asking me questions. I like talking to people at the gym and have noticed a lot of people chatting me up lately about lifts im doing (especially the meadows rows) but i wish they would wait till after i was done.
