Ok so I got into the gym today at Golds cause I wanted to try jumping. My hips been feeling a bit better so I wanted to try it out… I was pleasantly surprised by the results for sure.

I filmed a lot of stuff today and specifically wore a headband again for you MiM (and you too Ink. You’ll be sporting one next) Check out the vid

Started with stretching, then shot around for 10-15 minutes. Filmed my first jump and was able to grab the rim easily.

I did a few jumps and was grabbing rim with 1 and 2 hands (surprisingly)

Then get into some front squats:
135 x 12
185 x 6
226 x 6
275 x 3, 3 (<–video of this one)
315 x 1 (PR. I want to be able to rep 315 for 8 or so… feel like I could get there pretty quickly if this hip thing keeps going the right direction)

Tried quite a few exercises after this that all hurt: lunges, bulgarian split squats, GHR’s :frowning: suuuuucky

so I forced myself to get on the leg press. First time doing leg press since I’ve had this log lol… its been YEARS

worked up to:
7PPS x 8, 7 (<–video of this one)

Lying hamstring curls:
3 x 12

and that was all she wrote. At the end of the video is a shot of my delts… they were jacked after the front squats lol. Skin was peeling and it was super red and tender. LAME. Also there is a shot of my super awesome headband… it also highlights the supreme white trashyness of my patchy facial hair… I’m so embarrassed

I’m a bit late this but a couple of comments: I’m not too comfortable with a ‘rim grab’. That’s all I’m saying about that. The 315 was easy. There are definite easy reps there. I’ve gotten into them recently and hate them so I love them. Finally, are you outdoors when you’re squatting?

Ourboro- welcome to my log! Everyone needs a little rim grab every now and then :slight_smile: you think so? I think as I get more comfortable with the heavier loads (<–giggity) that I’ll be telling it soon. Hopefully at least. Yeah I was outdoors. At my old gym (Golds Gym San Diego) they had a complete outdoor gym. It was awesome for training/tanning cause you didn’t have to wear a shirt out there. Pretty cool.

Masch- FMC is where it’s at. I got my leanest while doing the FMC and I already look leaner today and I’ve only done it three times lol. Might just be my imagination but I felt like I was lookin pretty good this morning. I think you’re right about my knee. It feels fine now so I’m just gonna try and hit legs hard tomorrow and see what’s up. I didn’t teach my niece the double thumbs up but I wish I had. She LOVES the songs “Baby” by Justin Beiber and “Whip My Hair Back and Forth” by Willow and we were having a dance party in the living room. She grabbed my hand and was saying “dance, dance” and was pulling me. You guys should see my dance moves… Smooth as butter lolz

Ok so I hit the gym this morning for some FMC. Did 25 minutes on the stairmaster and it was great. Going back later for some back n bi’s and possibly hitting up a boxing class after that. I think if I did all of those my calorie burn for today would be over 9,000 :slight_smile: we shal see my friends. Hope everyone has a great day

Back and Bi’s workout today was… AMAZING!

I felt pretty low energy until I decided to test out some DLs and Hang Cleans to see how my hip felt. I videoed a lot today and only put the “highlights” in todays video… too much stuff.

Heres the basic rundown

jog to the gym
stretch/mobility

HS high row: 3pps
Chest supported HS row: 2pps
Wide grip row: 210lbs

after this is when the fun started. I was feeling pretty low energy but then I hit some DL’s and surprisingly felt good.

225 x 6,6
315 x 3,3
365 x 3
405 x 1, 1 hadnt DLed in forever… happy with these.

Hang Cleans: working on dropping under the bar. Felt good but way different. Gonna keep working on my form
135 x 4,4
185 x 3,3
225 x FAIL and then i got 1 (crazy knee wobble on the “good” rep… didnt notice it at the time but it was painful to watch… you are warned lol)

EDIT: Upon further review… that knee wobble/dip is insane. If my knee was fine after that I’m sure it’s fine. I kinda wish I didnt even put that rep in there cause it sucks so bad

Today was an awesome workout. Back was/is super pumped… arms were feeling it as well. My grip was shot and my hands are pretty beat up. All the grips at the new gym are much harsher than at my old gym. I’ve got lots of calluses already but I guess I’m gonna need more lolz… Check the video if you want.

^^Yeah I think thats what it was. I’ve never done my cleans like that before. I’ve always done a very slight dip but I want to work on dropping all the way under the weight. I think that’ll help me get my clean up much higher than before. I bet I’l be able to get 275-315 after not too long if I get that dialed in.

I weighed myself this morning after my FMC and I weighed 211.
I weighed myself today after my workout and I weighed in at 206.5???

I dont know what was going on with that? My morning weight was fasted (obvi) and I had already used the restroom. My afternoon weigh in was after breakfast and a bowl of pasta, potatoes and turkey meat??? Weird huh?

Looking strong man. Cleans looked good.

First off, nice work as always man.

I have similar bodyweight fluctuations at times. I’ve always been able to chalk most of it up to either water loss from a hard lifting session(probably the case here), or a very large meal, or a massive dump. In any case, I would base things off of your morning weight, as its unlikly any of the above issues had a very big effect on that.

greg - a couple things on cleans. First, have you tried them before DLs? I did it yesterday and the hip activation from cleans really helped me explode on the upper half of the DL

Second - on your vid, it looks like you are dropping too late. What I mean is, you are cleaning the weight all the way up to your shoulders (at standing height), then dropping along with the weight (basically doing the eccentric portion of a front squat). The weight shouldn’t travel a foot back towards the ground from its top height. Try to drop down while it’s on its way up. It’s hard–I can’t do it myself-- but that’s what I noticed.

WF- whats up man? Havent seen you posting in a while… you been busy up there in Oregon?

Blaze- The weight fluctuation was really weird cause it was opposite of what it should have been (at least i thought so) I dont really care all that much what the scale says but I just want to make sure that its not going UP right now. I normally dont weigh myself very often but sine Operation Righteous Cowboy Lighting is in full effect I’ve gotta keep a little bit of tabs.

Dove- Thanks for the kind words. yeah I’ll just base it off my morning weight I guess. I never weigh myself in the morning cause the scale is at the gym and I always go in the afternoons but I’ve been getting my FMC on and thats why I weighed myself in the morning. Did it again today an it was 208.5… whatever that means.

MiM- wasnt it? I did correct it quick but watching the replay made me cringe TBH. Yeah I have tried the deadstop rows before. I liked them and will add them back in… I just did regular rows because they’re a little easier… my back was already fried by the time I hit rows. That plank video was awesome! Made me want to go out and plank some stuff :slight_smile: @ :53 and @ 1:23 were amazing!

Ink- That 405 was definitely not easy… I was surprised I even got it up (lol) considering I havent DLed in 6 weeks or so? The way you described your clean is the way I usually do them. I’ve never done them with the drop down part before but I really liked it. I need to figure out that technique though.

Ct Rock- That is true… I’ll work on that for next time and will report back when I am successful

scj- I usually never do DL’s before Cleans. They’re just too taxing. I honestly wasnt planning on doing either of those lifts yesterday but got the itch halfway through my workout and decided to try the DL’s. They went good so I thought “well why not try some Cleans?” Yeah I know my form is crappy on those cleans. I noticed what you’re talking about after I watched the videos. I think I just need a lot of practice with them (lighter weight probably) until I get the form down and can nail these. Good looking out man.

So I got into the gym for some FMC today. Did 30 minutes of incline walking. 10% incline @ 3.2 MPH plus my 10 minute shin warm up thing, so 40 minutes total on the treadmill. Weighed in at 208.5 this morning (not putting too much stock into any weigh ins for a while)

Working with my brother on planning my bachelor party… I wont be planning it (obvi) but I’m getting him all the contact info for the rest of the guys. Good thing that I’ve initiated Operation RCL already cause I’ve gotta get the beach bod for the bach party. Gonna do Lake Havasu for a weekend, rent a boat, jump off some cliffs, drink some beers (obvi) hit some bars/clubs, hopefully come across some inebriated co-eds out on the lake having a good time… who knows? Its gonna be awesome and I need to be lookin awesome… Its on like Donkey Kong

Speaking of inebriated co-eds…I flew over Lake Tahoe in a CH-46 on our way to Reno, and chicks were flashing us all over that place. It was awesome, haha!
