Blazin's CF Log

Start of the new log… Crossfit and The Zone diet, I really want to give this a full effort shot to see how I progress, in terms of overall progress I’ve come a long way; however, in terms of straight strength and my physique I’d say I’m a bit beyond a beginner.

Let’s see what happens when your average guy hits CF hard and follows The Zone…

That looks good as hell!!!

Crap I was supposed to get another screen name so it wouldn’t just be the two of us again :stuck_out_tongue:

Day 2:

“Mr. Joshua”
Pack Scaling

5 Rounds for Time
Run 400M
15 Incline Situps
15 Deadlifts @ 185

32:00 – No stop watch today(batteries dead) so the clock had to do.

Almost puked at the end… great.

Man i love CF workouts. They really get the competitive juices flowing for me. I always look at the top times/ weights posted that day for the WOD and then try to beat it. To me it makes it alot more fun. I never tried the zone diet.

Oh yea, when you repeat a workout, let us know if your times have gotten better. Good luck man, and i will definitely be keeping up with your log.

Thanks for checking in, don’t you worry, I have a super sophisticated log sheet to track my progress.

Diet, Weight, Measurements, Photos, and Training…

CF is a different animal, the measure of progress isn’t just weight x reps… There are rounds for Max Reps, Time, Max Effort singles, and Rounds total in limited time…

I’m taking all of these into account and will be comparing repeated workouts to measure progress along with the visual (photos and measurement graphs) evidence to prove this out.

May take a while to compile this data, workouts don’t always repeat quickly… but I think the ME days will show PRs which will be some indication.

Cool deal, I’m looking forward to it. I actually have some of my CF workouts posted in my log here on T-Nation, but I never do CF long, just like 2 weeks or so usually, then I head back into my main workouts. So they are a little hard to find.

Day 3:

“Nate”
Pack Scaling

Complete as many rounds in 15 minutes as you can of:

6/6 Pullups/Dips
4 Handstand Push-ups bridged on feet
8 55lb DB swings

7 Rounds, 3 Pullups

I’m excited for today’s workout, it’s Deadlifts.

3,3,3,3,3

I wonder what I’ll hit today…

Day 4:

Deadlift
3-3-3-3-3

225-275-295-315F-305

F on 3rd rep lockout :frowning: Definitely next time…

So what do you think so far? Do you have pros and cons on CF?

Tabata Something Else
32 Intervals 20seconds of work 10seconds of rest first 8 are pullups, second 8 are pushups, third 8 are situps, and final 8 are squats

Pullups 11,6,5,7,4,7,5,3

Pushups 8,16,8,9,7,4,7,7

Situps 9,9,7,7,4,9,7,7

Squats 10,10,12,10,12,10,10,12

Pros and Cons of CF?

Hmm none so far really, I’m done with a week today and I haven’t really had any downsides… Average workout time is about 30 mins including warm up… I guess that’s a pro? or a con if you think you need more.

My plan was to evaluate this after 3 weeks to see where my progress is and determine if there are any pros and cons for me…

Measurements:
Right Thigh 24.5
Left Thigh 24.5
Chest 42
Upper Abs 37
Belly/Love Handles 38
Shoulders 47.5
Right Upper Arm 14.5
Left Upper Arm 14.5
Neck 16.5

Weight: 220.8

Sat and Sun were rest days, back to the gym today…

As for progress, well weights coming off and inches are being lost… Pics this afternoon

Again, no cons as of yet, just a constant struggle to stay straight on this diet during holiday parties…

When a gorgeous girl begs you to have a beer or asks if you want some vodka… and gives you a wink… it’s very, very, verrry difficult to say no I’m all set, I’m not drinking.

The only thing that keeps the fight going is the end result, the light at the end of the tunnel, I know I’ll be in the best shape of my life and if I just hold back, keep the pleasures of life at bay for a little while longer I’ll be there faster.

Day 6:

Shoulder Press
1-1-1-1-1-1-1 Reps

95-115-135F-125-135F-135-135

Wow 135 was hard today… dunno why…

I have a 1RM PR of 155 IIRC… so that’s no good :frowning: maybe I was using more body english than I thought for that PR… Today was strict as strict can be.

Week 2 Photos -

[photo]19434[/photo][photo]19435[/photo][photo]19436[/photo]

Congrats on your success so far. It seems like its working. Stick with it man. The hot girls at the Christmas parties can definitely be hard to deal with, but it will be worth it.

Day 7:

“Fran”
Pack Scaling

9 Rounds, 5 Reps for Time of:

95lbs Thrusters
Pullups

Rounds 5-9 Jumping Pullups, other rounds were kipping

10:58:35

I would say this would be shorter if I had a better setup at my gym (Squat Rack and Pullup Bar on opposite sides gym) HOWEVER… I think that walking time actually allowed me to get a better time because I wasn’t dying at the end really… Breathing heavy, didn’t want to do any more… but I never broke anything up like I had to do with “Mr. Joshua.”

Meh

So you only spent 11 minutes training??? Gotta love that.

I didn’t even think of that…

With the CF Warm UP and some cool down work…

I’d say probably closer to 25?

It felt like I’d been there for more time after I completed that workout…

Pussy footing your way through an hour of training and going all the fuck out for 11 mins is about the same. At least thats how I feel.
