Back and Biceps

Decided to change a couple things up, ended up having a great workout!

Instead of HS pulldowns I went with

Pullups (hands about shoulder width)

bw 20x8 (harder than they should have been. Probably has something to do with the 15 lbs i’ve put on in the past couple months)

Seated Low Row

260x10 10lb PR Felt like I could have done more.

I can tell pausing them really helped my strength here, the 110 and 120 sets felt like warmup weight.

Haha. Sometimes I start feeling strong, then I look at H4M’s posts and Bug/Evan/Gregron’s log and it knocks me back into my place lol.

In all seriousness, while some of my numbers are decent, I feel like I should be a lot further along after 3 years of lifting (even if it is on and off and I hurt my back lol).

Haha that’s oh so true.

As long as you’re lifting more weight than before, then when you started lifting shouldn’t be of too much concern. And you’ve definitely been doing that, so no worries man :slight_smile:

Lol my avatar. Well that was during a xmas trip with the family. We were leaving the place we were staying at and I decided it’d be much more efficient to load up some baggage on my back and run up the oh so steep hill where the shuttle awaited lol. Man that was years ago haha.

Think you could’ve done more if you did DLs first? I know you weren’t planning on doing DLs at all, just wanna know how you would’ve approached it if your back was fine.

35’sx10 these felt a lot better on an incline, I think I’ll keep doing them this way.

Tyler2009, (look up a couple posts^^^^) a guy I train with, had me try these extensions deals. We call them skullovers (mix of skullcrusher and a pullover),you lay down on a flat bench with your head off the bench, you bring two dumbells back (palms in) to below your head while keeping your elbows in, then you pause at the bottom of the motion, then explode them upward. Really kills the long head of your tricep.

Thanks! I’m probably going to get a similiar belt soon.

I could probably deadlift more if I did them first, yes, but a lot of the rowing motions I do require your lower back to be in good form to keep your form tight. If I do deadlifts first, that would limit my weight on all of my heavy horizontal rows.

As I’m lifting for mass/BB purposes more than sheer strength, I would rather slightly limit my deadlift numbers and be able to maximize my heavy rowing than maximize just my deadlift and limit all of my rowing motions. I would rather focus on developing my upper back than my lower I guess.
