This is true. My chest was already pretty dead though. I’ll get there.
phlegms wrote:
Crazt strong flies, bench is definitely getting up there too!
Thanks man! Appreciate it. I’ve still got a long ways to go though.

Nice work Blaze, good PRs… I might have to do some overhead extensions with the straight bar… I’m all for the variations that allow weight to be used :)
Thanks! Go for it man, they felt pretty good.

Yeah, I had been considering it, saw bug was doing it, then my training partner said he wanted to 5/3/1 his, so I said why not? lol.

If I’d not decided to switch to incline bench for awhile I might have done this too. Who stole the idea off who those, 'cuz bugs doing it too ;)
Hah. I steal all my ideas from bug.

Ok.

Delts/Quads wed was pretty decent, worked up to 80’sx6 on seated db press. Squat-my lower back was hating me for some reason, only worked up to around 250 for 5. Lateral delts were poppin.

Yest. Back/Bi pumptastic-5000 session.

Pumpzz. Done. Lats on firrrraaaaaa.
Worked about 7 hours today, going to do a double sesh (chest/tri and probs deadlift) in a bit, as I work a double tomorrow.

Good work man… I like your attitude to fitting it all in… around uni time I hit up two-a-days when needed and try and make everything flow nicely. 80s for 6 is definitely getting into big boy weights! Hopefully I should be there pretty soon…

Gonna copy your back workout for my pump day tomorrow, no copyright infringement intended :stuck_out_tongue:

How was it? Was amazin for me.

Chest/Tri/deadlift

Incline BB Press (first time doing this like…ever)
135x8
175x5
180x5
185x5
185x5
185x5
Pretty happy with this, felt pretty decent.

Inc DB Flies
50’sx10
55’sx10
60’sx6
My front delts were hurting during these.

Deadlifts
lower back was feeling terrible.
135x5
225x6
315x5 (beltless still)
315x3 (belt)
315x3 (yates partial)- felt like my middle traps were going to tear off. Must be why yates’ were hyuuugggeee.

Decline CGBP (really tight and controlled)
135x8
155x8
165x8
175x6

Rope Pressdowns
Somexsome (had to use a different pulley from usual)

French Press DB-unilateral
instead of stopping at forearm parallel to ground, I lowered as far as flexibility allowed…pumpzzz
25x12
25x12
30x10

Gonna keep doing this on french press, felt great. Triceps were pumped like crazy.
Just found out August Burns Red has a newer album out I haven’t gotten yet…can you say new lifting music?

Good work on the incline bench, I’m pretty intrigued to see what I can get up to for a top set on them now I’ve increased my bench a bit over summer… when I played with them briefly they felt far more natural due to the setup being easier/more consistant. Hopefully I’ll not be too far off you. What’s your view on incline flyes vs. flat flyes? I currently start on an incline, go lower for my next set with a heavier weight, then go flat with the heaviest weight of all… if I’m honest I find them to smash the pecs the most at a medium-incline (a fair bit lower then it is on an incline bench). Keep up the good work Blaze.

Lawl, it seemed too complicated when I tried to recall it in my head when I went to the gym. Ended up doing rows and pull ups… Gawd I’m such a meathead :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha thanks man. Give em a try!
Flat bench flies kill my shoulders, unfortunately. I really get a good feeling out of doing them on the incline, with the incline at the lowest setting.

Amazin pumps. Back was looking wide and bi’s had a nice pump going.

Measured my arms last night on a whim, they’re actually up a 1/4 inch since I went back down to 185 (up to 15.5", still small though), though I weighed in today at 189lbs. I think the increased eating in the past two weeks combined with peptides is starting to make a difference. Peptides are actually making me hungry, which is great.

170lb DB Rows are just crazy… I couldnt even imagine

Didn’t even know they made DBS up to 170lbs!

funny you’ve never done Incline bb press…why not??

Great looking session Blaze. +1 on the deadstop row weight! SICK. Think your arms are marginally bigger then mine… race to 16"s?
gregron wrote:

Haha suuuurrree. We all know you active rest by rowing 170 Greg, you can’t fool us.
phlegms wrote:

Only specialized. I actually bought an adjustable handle and add weights to it. 170 is 3 25’s and a 5 per side, with the handle weighing 10lbs. lol.
mom-in-MD wrote:

Honestly, not sure. I’ve just always gotten a good feeling out of incline db so I had no reason to try anything different. Kinda stalling on inc db though so figured I’d switch it up.

Thanks man! It’s on!

New avi is my Bug impression. Need +20lbs of muscle plz.

lookin good man… very Zoolander of you

Man… I might have to get an adjustable handle at this rate. Everyone be hitting them up. Uni gym 110lb max DB fails.

Looking big in the avi dude, chest and delts really starting to come up, hopefully your lats wont get jelly :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking good in the avatar. 170 lb DB rows are ridiculous. I don’t know if I could even hold that with straps. lol

That’s terrible lol. I just knew that once I could hit the 130’s for 12+ reps that I needed to be able to go heavier. Mine was $30 shipped, but I don’t know how things are priced over there.
phlegms wrote:

Haha. Thanks man. If I get the rest of me up to par with my back, I’d be a very happy man.

Thank you sir. I WAS using straps, but suprisingly the grip was decent. The center of the handle rotates too, so you can’t strap up as tight as I’d like.

Chest/Tris

5/3/1 Bench
195x3 (paused)
210x3 (paused)
225x3+1f (weight was supposed to be 220, and I paused the first two sets, so I’m ok with it I guess)

Decline DB press
kinda did a closer grip for these, decent tricep involvement
80’sx10
85’sx10 +2 rep PR
90’sx10 PR

Incline Flies
50’sx10
50’sx10
50’sx10
These have been putting a lot of stress on my shoulders. I think I’m going to ease back on them, then add them in one day a week instead of 2, or go light on one of the days.

Seated DB OH ext.
85x12
90x12
95x12
100x10
Tricep death. went a little lower on earlier sets, and all the way down on the last rep of the first three sets.

190x10
200x10

Cordova Ext
120x10
140x10
150x10 PR
160x10 PR

Done. Tri’s were cashed, but looking about as big as they ever have. Chest had a pretty decent pump as well.

Okay, catching up in here.

First, glad my log and random-ass training can be of use to you guys sometimes.

Second, I DONT MAKE ANGRY RAPE FACES. you look supa-pissed. I’d smash though. Looking fuller overall, gj. Whacha weighin? 190ish?

Lastly, and most importantly: dat bench. I’ve been liking 5/3/1’ing it so far to give it some structure, but you need to make your training max artificially light at first. So I would make it something you can dominate 3+ times (so lets say 225), so your first week (5 week) would be something like

warmups
125 x 5 (55%)
145 x 5 (65%)
170 x AMRAP (75%). You should get prob 9-12 your first time I’d reckon.

So I dunno what the hell you are doing, lol.

Also, haven’t you asked me about bringing up the upper chest region? If you feel that area lags more, I would def not slack on incline barbell bench. I think that’s one of the best lifts eva for bb’ing for a lot of people.

ok done ramblin.

Haha. Yeah, I get a lot of my good ideas from you and Evan.

I wasn’t angry, I swear! lol. Not sure why it came out looking like that. lol @ rape face. Sitting just under 190, yeah.

Yeah, I figured I probably picked it too high. I didn’t drop the full 10%, I went with 245 assuming a true max of 255 (and it might be lower than that now). I’ll try to finish out this cycle, then run it next week again using 230 or so. I just wanted to stay working heavy.

Yeah, I liked incline bench and def will start trying to work it in more. Gonna go 5x5 on it to get the strength up but still hit some deccent volume.

Sparkles the BBer pausing reps???
