Blaze-Better Dead than Average

Okay, so I did a long session to make up for missing yesterday, though I cut the hamstring work way down, as they’ve been really tight and cramping recently ( I think due to suddenly going heavy on squats again). Lower back was still feeling bad too, so I took it easy there.

Chest/Tri/Traps/Some hamstrings

Incline DB Press
80’sx8
85’sx8
90’sx8
80’sx8 (slow, no lockout)

Snatch Grip Deads
135x8
225x6
275x6
(add straps)
315x8
365x3 Think this is the heaviest I’ve ever gone on these. Decently hard, though having an injured lower back doesn’t help.

Incline Flies
45’sx10
50’sx10
55’sx10

Shrugs(paused)
225x10
275x10
295x10
315x13 (not paused)

Cable Crossovers (slow negative and positive, squeezed at top)
80x10
90x10
80x10

Tried something a friend told me about, not sure what to call them besides cable pec squeezes.
You take a handle on a low pulley on each side of you, and pretty much jsut bring your hands together while squeezing your pecs. Crazy lower chest pump.

Cable Pec Squeezes
30x10
30x10
40x10

Smith Pin Press CGBP (about 2.5" off chest, Done with suicide grip
135x6
185x6
205x6
215x4
215x4
225x3
225x3 (just call me faben)
Really liked these, killed my tris.

Dumbell Shrugs (leaning forward, squeezed back)
110x12
120x12
130x12

Rope Pressdowns
100x12
110x12
120x12

DB French Press (unilateral)
30x6
35x6
40x4 (might have been able to squeeze out more but didn’t have a spotter)

Done. Tired. Great pumpzz though.

Pulls looked good man, and that session has enough to make up for a missed workout yesterday, and one tomorrow, haha. Good work bro.

Ink- haha yeah it was a lot of volume. Thanks brudda.

So it seems a lot of people are posting posing vids, I haven’t posted pics for a bit, so I figured I’d try one out. Literally just grabbed the camera and took the video, I tried to hit all the mandatories I could think of. Let me know if I missed something that you want to see.

Pretty much just confirmed what I’ve know-
back is my major strength and arms are my weakness.
Anyhoo, here’s a quick posing vid

Edit: I need to stop bouncing in poses.

Back is killer dude, crazy width and nicely proportional lats. Once the arms get brought up you are on your way to a truly killer physique. SO JELLY.

Thanks man. I really appreciate the kind words.

Back and Biceps

Yates Rows
250x12
260x12
270x10 (somewhat loose, lower back wasn’t feeling good today)

because my db handle is getting here soon, figured I’d get back into the groove as far as db rows.
DB Rows (dead stop, squeezed at contraction)
110x10
120x10
130x10 (heaviest dbs go)
Not easy, but not terrible either. Def gonna be able to add weight.

Seated Cable Rows (dead stop, paused at contraction)
240x8
250x6
220x5
delt was hurting like before. Not cool. lol.

Kayak Rows
60x6
70x6
80x6
90x6 PR
Counted right, middle, left, middle as one rep

Seated DB Curls
35’sx8
40’sx8
40’sx8

Meadows Curls
35’sx10
40’sx8
40’sx8
I did these like Phil Heath in the vid in his thread in the BB section, where instead of alternating reps, you do 5 right arm, 5 left arm, 5 right…etc. Feel like it took a lot of body english out of it and helped me focus on feeling the muscle work. Gonna keep doing them that way.

Preachers (slow negative, fast positive)
75x10,8,8

Reverse Curl burnout
50lbsx21

Done. Great pumps and moved some decent weight.

Good rowing dude, throwing up some respectable weights & your lats are showing me that they are what’s doing the work  keep it up mannn (I know you will)

Thanks man. I plan on it.

Decent sesh yesterday, though bench weights were weaker than I’d like.

Bench
205x5
210x4
215x3
225x2+1f
225x2+1f

HS Inc
2ppsx8
2p+10psx6
2ppsx8 (done slowly and kept in chest ROM)

Inc Flies

Seated DB Ext.

160x12
170x12
180x10

OH Rope Ext
100x10
110x10
120x8

Done. Good pumps, Starting with seated db extension I worked triceps with a guy I’ve talked to a couple times in the weight room. Good stuff.

Good Quads/Delts session

Squats
185x5
225x5
240x5
255x5
265x5
275x5
No weight PRs but added a set at 240 and 265, so added a decent amount of volume.

Seated DB Press
60’sx5
65’sx5
70’sx5
75’sx5
80’sx6 (+1 rep from last week)

Standing Laterals
35’sx6
30’sx10,10,10
These tweak my shoulder. I need to switch back to leaning laterals probably, which is a shame, as I really like these.

Leg Ext Tri-drop
180,130,80x12
170,120,70x12
160,110,60x12
(+5lbs from last week)

Rear Delt Raises on inc bench
30’sx20,20,20

Hack Squat Strip Set

150x8
100x8
50x15
Quad death.

BB Front Raise (underhand)
50x10
60x10
70x10

Seated Laterals
(did these different this week, instead of pausing at the top, I kept the motion super controlled and just moved through the regular ROM, flexing my lateral head throughout)
20’sx12,12,12,12+10P

Done. Long Session, but everything was really good.

Yeah, back looks real good. In addition to arms, I’d say shoulders and chest could use some attention. More time under the bar and these areas will keep filling out, of course.

lookin good blaze. strong squatting and great back work like always

Awesome looking workouts up in hurr as always! How long do your workouts take you on average, looks like a tonne of volume. Obviously you are doing something right!

Thanks man.
I def agree with that. Shoulders have been coming up, chest I honestly haven’t payed much attention to. I need to start hitting more flat variations.

Thank you sir. Just trying to keep up to you guys.

Thanks man. I have long ass workouts lol. Pressing workouts are usually like 80 minutes. Pulling and squatting are usually closer to 120 lol.

Back (vertical) and biceps

Decided to switch it up today.

Pullups (first 5 sets supersetted with the Kayak Rows
Widest grip possible (really wide)
bwx10,8,8,8
At this point I decided to just see how far I could take it.
Narrower Grip (still about 8" wider than shoulder width)
bwx8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,4(every rep slow on last set, rep 2 paused at top for 10 seconds)
102 reps total. Back was crazy pumped.

Kayak Rows (these were supersetted with the widest grip pullups)
70x7
80x5
80x5
80x5

Hammer Curls (done Heath style, half reps done right arm, half left, repeat)
35’sx10
40’sx8
40’sx8
45’sx6

Conc Curls (Arnold style)
25x8
30x8
35x8

Done. Only took like 45 mins. Great workout.

Sick pullups brah

Awesome looking workout, very creative or something. You BBers always seem to have such fun! :stuck_out_tongue:

Good stuff on kicking the soda- all though I must say the extra cals were probably not hindering in your case.

Again PR rain in this log - much jelly

Posing vid shows great progress and potential, you have a tiny waist. Add to arms and abs for even moar awesome.

just my tiny 2 cents of fatty PL opinion of course.

Pullups supersetted with kayak rows? Jeebus you must’ve felt like someone took a louisville slugger to your back.

Dear Blazer—
Can I come over to play Nintendo?

Sincerely,
Dash

blaze, great minds think alike I guess? I supersetted kayak rows today with DB Rows and it was money.

How was it with the pull ups? I bet your lats were flaming harder than clay aiken.

Thanks man! Pretty happy with them myself.

Thanks frenchie!
I can’t see the soda being helpful, esp if being full kept me from eating cleaner foods.

Agreed on the arms and abs. Arms are stubborn, and I really do need to hit abs more. lol.
I’ll take your non-fatty PL $.02 anytime!

Haha. More like someone stuck a bicycle tire pump in my lats and just kept pumping. I felt like I was stuck in a constant lat-flare.

Oh, of course you can! Attractive ladies are always welcome to my Nintendo. haha.

I bet that was rough!
With the pullups I just had a crazy pump. I would go straight to a set of kayak rows after I finished the pullups, my lats were crying.

Didn’t get in a workout yesterday, worked a double with no break for a total of 14.3 hours on the timeclock yesterday. Worked another 7.5 hours this morning. Tired lol.

Regardless, going to hit the gym tonight and try to do some chest/tri work and maybe a dead variation if my lower back is feeling up to it.

Yesterday’s Chest/Tri/Deadlift workout

Incline DB Press
80’sx8
85’sx8
90’sx7

Inc. Flies
45’sx10
50’sx10
55’sx10

Deadlift
225x6
315x5 (this might be the most I’ve done beltless. Lower back tweaked a little but felt decent overall)
(add belt)
365x4
405x3
Pretty happy with it considering my lower back has still been aching and hurts any time I bend over.

Cable Crossovers
80x10
80x10
80x10

Cable Squeezes
30x10
30x10
30x10

Smith Pin Press
185x6
205x6
215x4
225x3
225x2

Rope Pressdowns
100x12
110x12
120x9+3 (no spread on last 3)

DB french press (unilateral)
30x6
35x6
40x4

Decent workout, great pumps. Happy with deads, gonna ease my way back up to old weights and hope my lower back starts feeling better. Lower back pain has always gotten worse when I eased off the deads, so I’m gonna keep hitting it hard. Heading in for a calves/abs session later, but I probably won’t do a writeup, because…It’s calves/abs haha.
