glad you liked the incline smiths… they’re my new jam. They really kill my upper chest, especially when I dont go to lockout. very nice.
Have fun on your Wisconsin trip. Make all those corn fed bubba’s out there jelly with your beach bod
Yeah, I def liked em. Just gotta figure out a way to work them into my routine.
Wisconsin was awesome, and yeah, they were jelly. haha.

Some awesome progress in here. PRs everywhere I look! Looks like you are having a productive summer. Did the nausea clear up for ya? I still haven’t figured out how to do Nikki’s butt blasters on my Smith here. I do likey the weighted glute bridge. And why not develop everything, ya know?
Thanks Powerpuff! The summer has been a good one. Nausea has cleared up, pretty sure it was from some the supports I was on with the PH. I can take or try to find a vid of the lift if you need a demonstration? Haven’t tried glute bridging lol. And yeah, no reason not to give every bodypart a lil love haha.

Thanks man!
The trip was a lot of fun, got to catch up with my siblings, see my 1 year old neice, do some intense tubing, and overall just relax for a couple days. I’ll try to get some pictures to post after my sister puts them up online. I got a lot of comments about how I was “bulky” and my siblings did a lot of “meathead” jokes.
Ready to be back at it though. Tomorrow is gonna be hella busy.
I’m getting up at 7am, driving 5 hours back down to school, eating, getting in my lifting, showering, then starting my new job right after that. I’m going to be a line cook at a Bullys, which is a BBQ/Rib place. Looking forward to something to keep me busy and put a little extra cash in my pocket. Ok, gotta get to sleep though. I’ll try to post tomorrow’s back training before going to work. Stay classy folks.
Back and Biceps
BB Rows (yates, strict)
230x12
240x12
250x12 +5lb
Meadows Rows
2p+35x12
3px12
3p+10x12 +10lbs
Grip, even with straps, was giving out on this set. It was actually like 3 groups of 4 with each arm, but with only enough time to tighten grip between groups.
Seated Cable Rows (V grip, started from dead stop, paused at contraction)
220x8
230x8
240x8 +10lbs
BB Curls
90x10
95x10
100x7
Focused on really squeezing these and took less rest than usual.
After reading the “Another Big Arms Thread” in the BB forum, I realized a couple things.
- I’ve been training arms in the 6-8 rep range primarily for a long time
- I’ve been focusing on just moving weight more than feeling the muscle work on bis and tris
- I’ve been taking too long of rest periods (2-3 minutes)
So I’m cutting down on the rest and working on improving the “feel” of exercises.
Meadows Hammers
35’sx10
40’sx10
40’sx10 (-5lbs/hand, but also on 1 min rest)
Preacher Curls (3 second negative, explosive positive with hard squeeze at top)
65x10
65x10
65x10
Biceps haven’t felt this trashed in a long time. Lats were nice and toasty too.
DC Bicep Stretch
2x20 seconds
Todays Pre-workout motivation for Back:
Your rows are awesome, I am definitely going to have to catch up to you now.
Good to see you back at it hitting hard! There is nothing quite as satisfying as hitting the iron again after a few days off. I always come back with an incredible renewed vigor towards my workouts.
you should check out the back training from todays indigo bootcamp…
some neat moves to try out!

Thanks man. Rowing motions and my back are def. my strong point. Now if I can just catch you on pressing…lol

Aww yeahh lol. Felt good to be back at it. Just gotta keep intensity up with the new job and all. Not too worried though.

Thanks MiM! I watched it. It was cool seeing a face put to Prof. X. I want to try the rope straight arm pressdown/row superset. It was cool that they did Meadows Stretchers at one point (the move I’m now doing one armed). Thanks for the heads up!
The new job first day was pretty good. Lots of cute waitresses. I found out that apparently I get one free meal every time I work, and have unlimited soda and drinks, I need to find out if that includes milk…haha. Not going to push it on my first couple days but I’ll probably start bringing in a shaker of protein to pound mid-shift.

Good rule of thumb is that stuff they pour out of the drink gun is free, bottled stuff isn’t. The Red Bull you’ll end up drinking on some dead nights won’t be free.
Good luck with the new job. I’m jelly of your rowing strength.

I figured as much, but one can hope… lol. I just need to make sure I don’t do what I did last time (just drink an assload of soda every day, lose my appetite, and lose a bunch of weight)
Thanks!
I feel like heavy db rows for 3 sets of 10+ reps are how I built my base strength on rowing motions. Last summer at the start I was rowing 90’sx8 or so, then was up to 130’sx8-10 by the end with the same form. Just focused on moving heavy ass weight and contractions be damned for a couple months (as long as form remained reasonable) and it worked for me I guess.
Chest and Tris
Flat BB
185x8
195x8
205x8 +1 rep PR
Incline Smith
165x6
175x6
185x4 (-1 rep)
135x15 ( half reps, no lockout)
pumpz
Incline Flies (paused at bottom, squeezed at top) got the best feeling out of these I’ve ever gotten. I could feel my chest doing the brunt of the work and had a great chest pump.
40’sx10
45’sx10
50’sx10 PR last couple reps had more elbow bend than I usually like, will have to keep it here and clean up form a little.
Seated DB ext. (Tris were feeling weak today for some reason)
95x8
100x8
100x5
Pressdown (on lat pulldown, only one pulley, so a lot harder. Stack goes to 300, so I don’t think I have to worry about running out of room to progress)
70x10
80x10
90x10
OH Rope extension
I kept the handles together through this motion. Wasn’t sure if most people spread them, but I got a great feeling out of it so whatever. 3 second negative and a pause in the stretched position at the start of every rep.
100x10
110x10
120x7+3p
DROP
80x16
Great pumpzz today. None of my training partners were there today so I didn’t push it on flat bench. Still got a PR so I’ll take it. lol.
i liked your Bi training… I hadnt done preacher curls consistently in years and they are friggin awesome. Such a serious biceps pump… I’m with you on that one.
your chest n tri workout looks like a serious pump inducing session! Get some!
what’re you weighing in at these days?

Yeah, it was fantastic. I generally am not a fan of preachers. Something about the motion makes me tuck my shoulders through a rep, then pull them back midrep, which makes me thing I might not have all the focus on the muscle, but they felt fantastic this time regardless.
Chest and tri was very pump inducing lol. Loved it.
I’m actually back down to like 188-189lbs. However, I’m about as lean as I was pre-ph again. I’ve only gained strength in the past couple weeks, so I don’t feel like I lost much muscle-wise.
Random Diet/Body Comp note:
I feel comfortable at this weight, I’m probably going to slowly gain weight (at least that’s the goal). It seems every time I try to “bulk” I end up unhappy with my body comp and lean back up, I know it’s all mental, but whatevs. Going to start trying to clean up my food intake sources Ala Mountaindog diet. Training partner and I ordered some Virgin Coconut oil, looking forward to cooking with that. Might start trying to eat ezekiel bread for a morning carb source, though I’ll limit it to one or two slices a day, shiz is expensive (like $6 a loaf). When your weekly grocery bill is only $45-50, that’s pretty expensive lol. Oh well. I DO have a job now, so I might up that in order to get organic foodz (or try this HumaPro business everyone is going on about).
Gym is closed for cleaning tomorrow, fml. Might just do quads on back width day and delts on chest and tri day 2. Either that or give them a week’s rest. Not too worried about it.
I like your body comp plan.
you should try to hold your current weight for a while and then slowly try to up that IMO. Slow and steady is the way to go when you’re young, as far as i’m concerned.
You’re in it for the long haul and when you’re young/going to school you dont wanna be carrying around a lot of extra chub. I’m thinking about getting about on the humapro train as well. if you do let me know how it goes.

Humapro is LEGIT. but yeah, we all have to work within our budgets. Also agree with not trying to just force weight on if you are uncomfortable with the bodyfat level.
keep on truckin.

Thanks man. I’m gonna do something like that. Posting a picture of my speculative diet at this point.
Rock and Elmore- hahahahaha. Real cool.

Hmm, I see. I plan on keeping after it. Wanna review this diet and give me some input?
Only thing I’m not really doing is the eggs, and I can’t really afford to go full organic on the meat. If the eggs are an important enough part of it, I can add like six of them a day, I just get burnt out on them really quickly.
Today’s training was decent, but not spectacular. I was really tired (~6 hours of sleep and I kept waking up).
Back (vertical), quads, and biceps

Done. Didn’t do as much lat work as I would have liked, but I was really tired and was adding quad work today. So whatevs, I’m ok with it.
