Blaze-Better Dead than Average

Nice lookin’ 'do and back session. If you’re wanting to do rack pulls to help with your DL lockout, I’d suggest you mimic the position you’d be while DLing. Otherwise it’ll do more for back mass and your ego.

Yates rows and rack pulls looked good man! Looks like you had a pretty killer back day brotha.[/quote]

Thanks man! I had a pretty good feeling, and the rack pulls felt pretty great too.

Thanks! I really like wearing one now, it helps with concentration.

Thanks man. I used the same grip width. I wasn’t paying as much attention to foot placement, but it was pretty close to my standard width. The only thing majorly different is I pull with alternate grip, and here I wrapped up in double overhand. I don’t mind building more back mass either too  lol.

In addition to foot placement and grip, I think body positioning is more important for carryover. Regardless, and more importantly, it doesn’t appear that you’re doing rack pulls for the sake of pulling like 124780971 lbs lol.

Obv. I can only replicate body position so much. lol. I’m going to work with maximal weights, today I was trying to get an idea of what weights I could work with.

So-funny story. In an email my dad just sent me, he included this:

"Are you taking anythink to help the body building?

Is is for sure safe for you to take?

Don’t get to carried away with things and the weights. Good to look strong but don’t become a muscle head too."

Pretty sure he means steroids…haha.
I’m just going to say back “not yet i’m not” hahaha. jk. (maybe)

Good point lol.

Don’t you just love those emails from parents that beat around the bush haha. Don’t tell him you’re taking teh creatinez he may just have to start an intervention.

LOL to the cap club.
I look iight in them. Mainie looks hawt in them, and so do you Blaze.
I absolutely loved your training look today. The hat, sneakers, wifebeater.

Aww  thanks. Pretty close to what I wear usually. The hat and flat-soled shoes at least.
Working on the PRs lol.

Decent day but getting frustrated with bench. THe only thing that’s changed since I was making a lot of bench progress is my calorie intake, so I’m pretty sure that’s what my problem is.
Here’s a speculative diet I want to start this week sometime:

½ Gal milk-1200 cals 64g prot (104g carbs)
1lb 80/20 beef-960 cals 76g prot
2 bananas- 200 cals
2 cups rice-450 cals (98g carbs)
Bagel-270 cals(50g carbs) 3g prot
Cream Cheese-100 cals 3g prot
6 eggs-360 cals 36g prot
2tbsp peanut butter-190 cals 6g prot
2 scoops whey-240 cals 48g prot
Total: 3970 cals 252 carbs 236g prot

Trying to keep cost low due to being a poor college student. Trying to think of cheap protein sources. Maybe add a can or two of tuna a day? Thoughts? Trying to keep carbs decently low as well. Maybe chicken quarters? Our local walmart usually has a 10lb bag of them for 7.00 or less. add one a day and get another 30+ grams of protein. Just looking for input or notes of anything I’m missing.

Additional supplements taken: fish oil. creatine. beef aminos. glutamine.

Dont sweat the bench man…mine is crap, but was being crappier lol. I decided to drop flat bb bench for a few weeks and use a different main movement. Doubt you need to do this, as you have pinpointed your problem but yeah…nice work man!

sweet hawk my friend! Thats gotta be worth at least 10lbs on each of the big 3.

I’m definitely a hat man when I work out. I hate when sweat drips on my face so the hat keeps that at bay.

Long hair = problem solved, sweat drips on floor lolz

Hmm interesting man. Yeah I’m hoping upping the cals will take care of it.

Thanks man! I’m about to pick up a bunch of job apps tomorrow though, so I might need to cut it down if I get an interview.
The hat is nice for sure. I’m gonna keep wearing one for as long as I can. The only time I’ve had to take it off at the gym is when I did rear delts on an inc. bench because I put my face against the bench.

Haha. It would take me too long for that hair. I think I’ll stick with the hat for now man.

haha I actually figured that out after my first two sets. I never wear them backwards, so it didn’t really occur to me until I thought “I wish I didn’t have to take this hat off to do this lift…oh wait.”

The strength gains you’ve made over here are amazing to me.

Laughing a bit at your dad’s email. I had my mom basically tell me to stop lifting heavy stuff recently. She thinks I’m either going to get hurt, or ruin my figure getting bulky. I do have to have my belly button fixed to I can’t argue with that part, right? I don’t think she appreciates the aesthetic of a more muscled woman. :frowning:

For cheap protein, I buy the 5 dozen packs of eggs at Costco. Ground turkey crumbles, also quite a bit cheaper at Costco. Tuna, but I’m getting concerned about all the mercury. I just learned to do a London Broil in the slow cooker. It’s often one of the cheaper grades of beef, and is really lean.

I’m not trying to be bitchy, but what is the difference between yates rows and regular bb rows?

That’s a lot of milk!! lol

Not sure where you live, but milk here cost more a gallon than gas does.

The new diet looks awesome.

I also wanna let you know that you don’t have to say anything in my thread. I’m sorry that you got dragged into this.

Aww thanks!

Haha most people don’t understand why we want to get strong/bigger. I’ve pretty much given up on trying to convince people.

Hmm. I might have to get a Sam’s membership and a mini-freeze to buy stuff in bulk. Our local super-Walmart has 10lb bags of chicken quarters for ~$7.00 so I might have to go with that. Lots of meat for pretty cheap.

Haha I know you’re not being bitchy.
A yates row is done overhand, with your body mostly upright, and a pause at contraction, whereas a bb row is done (usually) overhand, torso parallel to the floor, and no pause.

I’ve gone as high as a gallon a day. The milk I usually get is ~$3.40/gal. So pretty close here too (gas is around $3.70).

I just get pissed off at negativity and naysaying, esp. against someone I know has worked hard for their gains. Together team for sure :).

Had a short shoulders workout before class today. Had to cut a fair amount of the volume. Tried to hit everything at least once.

Seated DB Press
60’sx8
65’sx8
70’sx8
75’sx6 (depth on some reps suspect)

UH Max-Rack Seated Press (3/4 lockout)
100x10
110x10
120x12 PR

Leaning Laterals
35x12
35x12
40x12 PR felt pretty good. Form was pretty controlled too.

Rear Delts on Inc. Bench (hat backwards :P)
30’sx20
30’sx20
30’sx20

and done. Had a nice shoulder pump. Wish I didn’t have to cut out shrugs and FST-7 laterals, but I’ll get them next time and traps got hit pretty well by rack pulls.

That’s why you need to live by me. $3.55/gal of gas.

I don’t like negativity either =(
It’s cool though, I posted my bench video and put this liar shit to bed.
Regarding your offer to join the Other Logs (lol), people can dislike me enough to click on my log over here too. I’ll be fine.

You got a lot of PRs in that quickie. Awesome work.
It’s a lot easier, IMO, to get pumps when you have a certain length of time to train before going somewhere. Seems like you just get more efficient.

Jealous of your gas prices…and that you live in Florida. I just made a status about Florida passing legislation making a drug test required for welfare.

Thanks! I might be more focused in a shorter workout, but I hate having to cut out lifts. Throws off my progression and just annoys me. lol.

In unrelated new,one of my training partners pressed 405x1 today on bench. Craziness.
