Blaze-Better Dead than Average

meng u look like plankey in that pic

3 kinds of curl prs would get a brotard mention and a slap on the bum in PW ;)…

on a more serious note from 140 to 150 in 3,5 years? how strict is your diet? if your a hard gainer/ trouble eating please do not tell me you are only eating chicken breasts and broccoli…

I suppose I should ask before anything else what are your goals?

^LOL Blaze is close to 200#.

Heavier squats=thick waist? =)

Awesome progress all around.

fuck - i read that wrong… thanks for enlightening me Nikki cheeks

I was like what is wrong with this guy?!?

I’ll shut up now.

Glad you’ve put on a few pounds since that old pic lol. Now I feel like I should go a dig up some old pics of myself.

tyler-Ha, yeah I guess I kinda do.

nlmain- Over the 3.5 years I’ve been 130 at my lightest (when I started), and 191 at my heaviest( couple weeks ago). Weight is sitting between 185-190 right now. I eat a fair amount (1.5lbs meat, 1/2 gal milk, 4 cups cooked rice, sweet potato, and some other stuff daily during the week). If you’re interested in a weight progression, I posted one in the OP. Lots of weigh gains and losses due to time off an injuries. Thanks on the PR mention!

Nikki- Thanks! <3 You may be on to something there. By any record, I’m not too worried about a slightly thicker waist as long as everything else is growing.

AC-haha yeah. Do it! I wish I had a picture of me when I was 130 instead of 140. I considered a bag of popcorn and a can of pop a dinner back then.

pPuff- you should contact the local chairperson for strongman in your area…it should be FREE to train…or at least drop by and check it out. If that person isn’t close by, he/she should be able to hook you up with someone that might be…

Thats what I did…and was going to train for a comp, but there wasn’t ever in my area or the timing wasn’t right.

Hi Blaze! [/quote]

Mims - I was just looking for a good strength coach and found him. He charges $100 per session, or $30 if I join his Wed night group (3 other women).

Thanks for the Strongman link. Since they have no weight classes, I think I’d be too small to do them. I know Snap has talked about that too. Trifit or Crossfit Garage games type stuff maybe.

Hi Blaze - Nice bicep related PRs up there! I’ll have to test what I can curl on an EZ bar.

As for lifting shoes, I wasn’t getting along with my Chucks so I was doing squats and DLS in socks. I also got told to put my shoes on. At least they seemed apologetic and rolled their eyes, as in “Sorry, we have to say tell you…” LOL! I’m such a big rule breaker! I got a good deal on some ugly Fivefingers and I’m LOVING them. I’m used to being barefoot or in flip flops a lot here in Cali. Anyway, I’ve adjusted and they feel great.

EDIT: Just turned the page and saw your before pic. BLAZE that is awesome! Look at your pecs and shoulders. You’ve really developed your physique. You look like a MAN now. NICE!

bw+25x8
bw+30x8
bw+35x8 PR

Seated Low Row (V-grip)
230x10
240x10
250x10 (same weight as last week but a lot cleaner. Felt great. Keeping it here for one more week)

Pendlay Rows

215x10 PR

Deads

Stopped here, my left hip (has been a little achy since farmers walks on friday) and lower back weren’t feeling good at all.

Had to get up at 8:30AM to help my sister move this morning, after staying up fairly late studying, so this session was pretty good taking all that into account. Now I have a physics final in an hour, and a looooonnnggg night of more studying differential equations. 8AM final. not fun.

I tried deads in my socks anyway today (kicked off my shoes for a set, then put them back on). Felt decent, but the whole time I was watching the doorway lol. I just need to get some lifting shoes.

Haha. Thanks! Sometimes, when I’m feeling small or unmotivated, I look back at that picture to remind myself how far I’ve come.

my chucks have helped me tones on feeling more solid for my deads and squats.

nice PRs once again.

and 130 -190 is some fab progress in 3.5 years. you obliously have your shit together.

umad that pic is my background now :P:P:P:P also gotta show you my side bi before and after i took today…noticable mass is noticable

sigh Finals need to be over soon so you can get back to Together Team ;D

Awesome PRs. My pull-ups are getting stronger too despite gaining weight so we’re both lucky in that regard.

Thank you! I’m fairly happy with it. I just know I would be so much bigger/stronger if I hadn’t ever taken so much time off/had avoided injury.

Haha. Not even mad. Alright. After finals hell is over I’ll see you sometime in next two weeks.

Yeah they do, I want to get back to together team too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks! And Yeah that’s true for me too I suppose. Most guys stop doing pullups after they hit 185ish, but so far it’s not a problem for me (as long as I don’t go to wide of a grip, and that’s only regarding shoulder health).

Probably not lifting today though, it’s 10 mins before my 8am final, I’m running on like 4 hours of sleep. Going back to my apartment, passing out, then starting to study for tomorrow’s 10am final. Today would have been deload chest and tomorrow is shoulders with a deload on the pressing, so it shouldn’t be too hard to combine the two days tomorrow.

Good for you, you remembered! Haha, if you weren’t scared of getting caught, I bet they would have felt even better. Just spray paint your feet black and tell them you’re lifting in the NEW vibrams!

I’ve missed so much awesomeness in here… Those Strongman lifts looked like a ton of fun. That was sick. You were hauling ass with that yolk walk brah.

I always go shoeless for squats and deads but they never say anything at my gym… I bet you could get away with it if you wore black ankle socks… they wouldnt look too “un-shoe-like” at a glance?

Bro… that before picture of you is out of control! you were one skinny bastard lol. Good job on putting weight on and putting up PR’s all over the place. keep it up man.

mmmmmm pizza… mmmmm

BIG BLACK would get him trust me… he insists on letting me know that if you cant get up and set the weights down gently then you are lifting to heavy…guys a nut and he goes nazi about the no shoes deal but somehow its safe to lift in nike shox…the logic doesnt go far at our UNi

but its hwat happends when you have a man so obese that he cant fit through the turnstyle running the gym…sad sad sad

Haha yeah most likely. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’d fall for that one (plus I’m not too keen on spraypainting my feet). Just gotta buy some shoes once I get a little more money.

Haha yeah the strongman training was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the guy whose equipment it is is going home this summer and taking it with him. Hopefully I can start up again with it in August when he gets back.

As tyler said, “big black” (our joking name for our very overweight student fitness center director) is really anal about a lot of stuff, and shoes are one of those. I think he’s kicked people out for a 2nd offense. I haven’t had a first, but I don’t really want to risk it, as I’ll be lifting here for at least 2 more years.

Haha thanks man. I was crazy skinny lol. My body seems determined to be that weight too, if I take longer than 2 weeks off from lifting and eating big I’ll literally lose 10+lbs. Guess that just makes consistency that much more important. Thanks!

…I can neither deny or confirm the fact that I ate a whole half ham and mushroom and half ham and jalepeno pizza for dinner again last night.

Lol Tyler. Yeah he does make a big deal out of so little. Your posts are the longest run-on ever lol. L2Grammar plz.

Had a good deload pressing session. Dropped weights a fair amount and upped reps a fair amount as well. Last final went decently.

Incline Bench
55’sx12
60’sx12
65’sx12
70’sx12 (good pump here) (more than likely a rep PR)

Flat bench
135x15
135x12
135x12

Seated DB arnold press
35’x8
40’sx8
45’sx8
50’sx8

Skullovers
35’sx8
35’sx8
35’sx8

Leaning Lateral Raises
30x12
30x12
30x12

Inc. Flies
40’sx10
40’sx10
40’sx10

Inc Bench Rear Delts
20’sx25 (first 8 reps were done with a 25 in my left hand. People need to learn to put DBs in the clearly labeled spot. ugh. lol)
20’sx25
20’sx25

Wanted to do shrugs but no time. Whoo Summer!!!

You finished your last final? Yay!

K we both did shoulders yesterday. Are you doing legs with me today?

LOL that’s terrible.

Ha yeah, I actually am doing legs today, though I’m not sure when. I’m going to be pretty busy between cleaning our apartment, packing my stuff, and Cinco de Mayo celebrations haha.

I was not amused at the dumbell situation. lol. Who think’s it’s a good idea to place the db’s in the order: 20 25 20 25. Grrr.
