I was making good progress until the death of my grandfather. I had about 5 days where the workouts were less than adequate and the eating was out of control.
Anyone have any tips on how to fix some of the damage?
If you’ve been eating a lot of junk for 5 days your metabolism should theoretically be sped up. Just resume normal eating habits with a moderate caloric deficit and add in some HIIT or metabolically challenging weight sessions and you should be back in form quickly. I’m very sorry to hear of your loss.
In terms of getting off track for a bit, it’s not the end of the world. Force yourself into resuming a better routine. Often times the hardest part is just saying enough is enough and get started.
Clean slate and move on to your normal habits. I went through something similar a few years back. I had a trifecta of issues: My grandmother passed away, my gf and I of 3 years broke up, and I was miserable in my job. It was probably one of the hardest months of my life and I couldn’t eat more than 1 sandwich a day at breakfast time for almost a month.
No good in being depressed or over analyzing about what had already been done (i.e. not eating or working out for a month) and just got back on track.
