Not necessarily harmful, but, will tend to
reduce estrogen levels. So, if that’s desired
and the amount is correct, fine. But perhaps
the label dosage could be more than desired.
The dosage is what’s intended for men.
Calcium d-glucarate is being promoted as a cancer preventative including in women as something to help prevent breast cancer. See virtualhealthinfo.com
Is Biotest pretty sure that Tribex-500 has low risk of side effects for women? I’ve seen many places on this website that Mag-10 and Androsol are definitely not recommended. Why is Tribex-500 OK, if they all work by manipulating hormones? I’d like to try Tribex, but I don’t want side-effects, nor do I want to waste my money by taking too low a dose to be effective. What would be a good starting dose for a 120 lb 42 year old female?
Scott, yes, but women without breast cancer
don’t necessarily want their estrogen levels reduced.
Emily, products like Androsol and MAG-10
increase the amount of androgens in the body
to an extent where women would suffer from “virilization,” or becoming more manly physically – facial and body hair growth, lowering or hoarsening of voice, clitoral growth, etc.
Tribex must not increase androgen levels in
women enough to ordinarily be a problem here – we’ve never had any such thing reported as a side effect.
We’ve generally advised against women using it since basically we had no knowledge of what would happen, nor any means of obtaining that knowledge, so therefore it was sold as a product for men. At this point, now that it’s been out on the market for a while, some women have ignored that advice and used the product and felt it worked well for them. I would still consider it an experimental thing to do, but one that has been safe to date.
For dosage, if you want to try it, you might
start out with one capsule twice per day,
and build up to no more than label dosage.
Actually, given that as expected for a woman
in good shape, you’re smaller than the
average male user, 2 or 3 capsules 2x/day
would probably be a more reasonable maximum
than the label value of 4 capsules.
All I know is that my sister has Hepatitis-C and was recommended Tribulus for liver. I told of Tribex 500, which she ordered from the Biotest web site. Two weeks later she called to tell me that she had to decrease the dosage to 3 times a week because it made her so horny. We had not even discussed any effects. She also said it caused her to lubricate “copiously.”
You know, people always say that if you had a real aphrodisiac it would make billions, but Biotest has Androsol, Tribex, and MAG-10, and almost no one buys them for that purpose.
Certainly sales aren’t in the billions.
So much for conventional wisdom I guess. ![]()
Started with Tribex today. What has been your experiences (anyone) as to when the effects start to kick in?
Also, just to let you guys know, most women have changes in “lubrication” consistancy and amount during ovulation, making it easier for sperm to get to the egg, so this would make sense for increase in LH. I am especially careful with birth control during this time-so watch out!
Polaris how is your sister's liver function tests since she has started tribex, and has she noticed any strength gains?
Bill,
I realize that Vitex would not lower estrogen in females, instead, would it not increase estrogen in females making it counter-productive to keeping estrogen in check during an experimental Tribex cycle?
I don’t know why it would be counterproductive
for a woman for estrogen to possibly increase
somewhat (not extremely I’m sure) while on a Tribex cycle. It’s not as if estrogen impedes gains. I’d think a woman could judge whether
she liked the addition of Vitex or not, and
keep it in the regimen or take it out based on that, and be making the right decision.
But why Vitex would benefit a woman’s gains,
I don’t know (and is anyone finding it does?)
Bill, thanks for the reply. I was just going on the suggestion that one of the ladies (nickl’s girlfriend) wanted to lower estrogen by using M. My reasoning not to take it would by that Vitex would increase (slightly?) estrogen.
Now, do the other ingredients negate any increase by increasing clearance, etc?
Thanks for your time Bill.
I haven’t taken tribex, but take trib/ALA/Pumpkin seed extract combo. No matter what the scientific evidence says about its effect on women, i can only speak from experience. What i experienced was a huge increase in libido, energy/endurance levels way up, and slight acceleration of muscle growth compared to how long it would normally take to notice differences, and as far as its effect on the menstrual cycle, mine was unaffected with the exception of significant reduction of most PMS symptoms.
BigRob, yes, the calcium d-glucarate speeds
clearance. Whether for women this would exceed any
possible increase from the Vitex, I don’t know.
First off K, does that trib in that combo stand for tribex?
Hey bigrob, all this talk about womens hormones caused my girl and I to look into this more. My girlfriend has been getting terrible, terrible, pms problems, it’s been getting worse each month now for some reason, and if it’s keeps getting worse I told her she better go to the doctor. I know Amanda(my girlfriend) is one hell of a strong t-vixen but I can’t even bear to see her go through that pain anymore, I’m glad I’m not a woman, but anyway I have been reading a lot about vitex on the internet. And most sights say the same, vitex or otherwise known as the chaste berry tree(whoever ate this caused them not to be horny-honestly true)has been used for hundreds of years to help alleviate the pain of pms and even people of the church used it so they could live life not thinking about sex. Now offcourse back in ancient times no one knew how it worked but there has been a lot of studying of this herb in the recent years. PMS is one hell of a complex scenario, we all can understand that, and even the doctors can’t pinpoint the problems and how to fix them, but what they do know is the majority if not the whole problem is caused by hormone imbalance. The 3 main hormones, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone go completely bonkers during the latter half of the menstrual cycle, and primarily estrogen levels go to high while the progesterone levels go to low. Now scientists have figured out that this herb vitex if used will “fix” this hormonal imbalance by increasing LH (dont’ know if by the same route that tribex does) and what else it does is it rebalances the progesterone levels and estrogen levels to the points they should be at(lowers estrogen and raises progesterone). Amanda when she read that bought some up, just regular vitex, and she’s going to see if it helps her pms pain. And maybe “m” could be used in this manner since it contains vitex, hopefully someone on the biotest staff could touch with that subject soon.
You said that you thought maybe vitex would raise estrogen levels slightly, from what I gather what it’s suppose to do it just rebalance the progesterone and estrogen levels to the levels they should be at. Meaning if anything it lowers estrogen levels. Now I’m sure there are women out there that have to low of estrogen and to high of progesterone and maybe vitex would raise estrogen levels slightly in them, so you could be right with that standpoint. All I do know is even though women are the most beautiful creatures God ever created, they are also the most frickin complicated “hard to understand” creatures on this planet, who the hell knows probably in the whole frickin universe.
What else I dont understand is everyone says that if men took vitex it then lowers estrogen and in turn frees up testosterone(that’s what “m” is for right) in them. Now why was it called then the “chaste berry” and why not just women but men of faith(monks) took it so they wouldn’t get horny. If it lowers estrogen and in turn frees up testosterone, wouldn’t that cause you to get more hornier. SO was it in these people’s imaginations hundreds of years ago that this berry would cause you to abstain from nasty thoughts. OR am I missing something?
