To Jimmy and Fighting Irish,
Thanks for the kind words, I have been taking some time off to allow my body to heal from the abuse. I feel that I am going to start fresh here shortly. I will keep everyone posted. Have a great 4th and keep training hard.

I noticed you use the Fat bar. Your numbers are great. Did the Fat bar help you with your lifts? We have one at our gym but I have only used it once.

hey big james i was looking at your pic. very impressive my brother. you home gym would be nice in my basement. its so cool that i may want to cry myself.

BiggJames,
I’m hammering away at the deadlifts.Pulling weight off the floor will let you know right away if you want to powerlift.I worked up to 455x1 and then followed with rack work.I did mid thigh work with 5 reps at 400-500-600, then pulled 315 x 8 off a 100lb.plate.

The hands are sore and a little raw. How are things going for you this summer?Looking forward to your strong man training posts!TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

Sorry guys,
I have’nt posted in a while. I have been very busy with my new job. I am now working the swing shift at a plant that makes drill bits. More money and no phones or customers. Plus, I get my butt up and I can train early morning and still catch a nap before I head off to work.
I have really great news, I have just added a 45 degree leg press to the gym. It is a older Hoist commercial piece that I got off of E-Bay for a whopping $207.50. Of course I had to drive to Tacoma,WA to pick it up, but it was well worth it. My wife was able to go and visit her family so that made the trip that much more enjoyable.
Keep training hard, and I will chat with y’all later.

Wow what a great thread and story bro,
Hope all is well with your sisters.

I am an old fart not you (as your better half refered to you) and was at a lofty 330 pounds in April of this year, and now at 252 heading for 235, with the assistance of a health group here in MD, high protein/vitamine drink MRP’s. Nice that is helps keep muscle and carves away the fat.

So you are an inspiration to build back up to that lofty 3 bill point but in muscle not fat this time

But at 47 honestly will that happen doubtfully, but with the help or people like you and TN, hey weirder things have happened ;).

Keep going strong and inspiring bro

BiggJames,
Good to hear from you. That is a crazy leg press bro!Looking forward to your training posts.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

Nice to hear from you again BiggJames.
I remember you posting pics of your home gym awhile back. Did you make that reverse hyper or buy one. I’d love to have one of those but can’t really afford one.

My leg press weight will go up in the future. I need to replace the bolts on it with some grade 8’s. That way I can increase my working set weight.
Chat with ya soon.

I had it made locally to my spec’s. It was from my memory. So it is a little different. I had to purchase a few things on e-bay, like the pillow blocks and the padding, covering and the webbing for the strap. So I have roughly 400.00 in it.
I just try to make due with what I can.

It is worth the investment to buy one. It increased my deadlift by 75-80 pounds when I first started using one back in 1996.
Good luck with your training.

That fat bar has helped me with my overhead lifts and my grip strength. I enjoy doing push presses with it. It is literally like pushing a dead weight. No collar rotation or flex in the bar. Curls are fun too, puts a hell of a pump ino the biceps.
Train Hard.
