Bigger Muscle On One Side

Well here is my problem:

I`ve got a bigger right arm, right lats.
The left arm is smaller, and the left lats is smaller.
My left is actually a good deal stronger then my right.

The thing that comes to mind is: Since the left is smaller and stronger, the right side is probably getting more stimulation then the left (because the left is stronger and need more stimulation).

Should I add for example 1 more exersize on the left side to even this up?
This will make my left side even more stronger, but what the hey I want even muscles…

Don’t train one side more than the other. It will only make things worse. The thing you wanna be doing is do lotta barbell exercises. Dumbell exercises may cause diffent movements and hit the muscle in a different way. Just train as you do, and the left side will catch up with the right side.

Yeah, you don’t want to end up like the character in the movie “Lady In The Water” who only worked one side of his body!

But my left arm is smaller than my right. My left leg though is larger than my right due to having knee pain a while back. The right leg atrophied so the left picked up the slack. I’m slowly catching one up to the other though. So I’m sure you’ll bounce back too. Cheers.

the body is not perfectly symmetrical. Is the difference savere? like an Inch on the arms? If not then c’est la vie.

Use dumbbells.

Thanks for the info guys, anybody else have a view on this?

No actually the measurements are about the same, but I seem to carry a little more fat over the left side, and therefore I guess there are more muscle on the right, with the same measurements and a little bit less fat.

Actually, most of the people here would recommend unilateral DB exercieses over BB exercises. The problem with BBs is that if one arm is weaker, the other arm will take the slack. With unilateral DB exercises, you can concentrate and make sure your form is right for each side as you exercise them one at a time.

I will second this one. I had the same problem. My right bi and thigh were about 1/2" bigger than my left. I changed only two things: I began using my left arm more (out of the gym) and I added more DB work. Only took a few months and the difference is so insignificant, it’s not worth mentioning, maybe an 1/8".

Try it for a little while and I think you’ll see a difference. Good luck.
