I am watching the Cross_F_U_C_K_E_R games now. LOL.
The women are competing.
It is just an endurance test.
They are doing 10 DLs. Most are rounded their backs when they do the DLs…not good.
The GHD situps are using all momentum…not good.
Now they are riding stationary bikes? WTF?..
I don’t compete in anything formal.
If I compete in cross_f_u_c_k or tri-athlons I’d be admitting I can’t compete in real sports anymore.
I’d post my numbers and activities but that is besides the point. I could make up whatever I wanted…
So I ask that you critique my logic or lack there of if you wish…
dont waste your time with these clowns… still waiting for all the haters to tell us how great they are at their sport… hahaha…
average high school wanna be’s lifting now i bet…
for my sport (pro bicycle racer0 i do a bit of all lifting for strength…
but i bet a ton, most crossfit guys could do far more pullups than the bodybuilder/powerlifter on here and is far fitter and way more agile…i bet most guys bashing crossfit are big slow moving out of shape wanna be bodybuilders…just bet they are…

This one makes me laugh. Dude’s definitely trolling and doing a great f’n job at it.

Bench specialists are the best at one thing, so why the hell does anyone care about Ed Coan? Do you know who he is? He never came close to the bench record.

Actually Ed had a 584 lbs bench at 220 body weight when the 220 record at the time was around 600 lbs (Mike McDonald I think).
Crossfit is a sport, you can either practice it or play it or compete in it. Its like MMA you mix a bunch of stuff and fight, the end results are the best fighter. Now matter how long Judo or Tae Kwon Do has been around or in the olympics.
Never understood the hate for Crossfit, personally.
From what I can see, it’s encouraging people to get off their ass, to engage in strenuous workouts comprised of multi-joint exercises and olympic lifts, and to eat healthy diets.
These are good things, no?
As to whether or not it’s a sport, the correct answer is “who gives a fuck??”. To some, it is, and to some, it isn’t.
I just found like 3 events coming up in my area. The soonest I cant hit due to a wedding (which sucks cause half of it was 1RM based last year) but I think I am going to work on my conditioning for the other two.
I like the way CF gyms are equipped a lot, I think if I found one that would let me program myself to some degree I could do it. Except for maybe the price. I mean, I own rings and a sled (tho not really an appropriate place to do either) - is a rope and bumper plates worth paying another $110 a month? The rope would cost a one time fee of like $150.

Aja Barto can snatch 305. and his mile before the workout I posted was right at 6 minutes. I never said the events followed each other. Trolling. I love it.
Well?[/quote]
I think someone like Alexander Karelin who could post better numbers than that plus, win a few Olympic Gold medals, is far more impressive. There are probably FEMALE sprinters who could compete with his weightlifting numbers while they would demolish his 65 second 400 meter time (slow as shit) and 6 minute mile time. Crossfitters want to call it a sport and themselves athletes. They better pray that REAL athletes don’t decide to do it as they would humble all of them, with ease.

Where are they bro? If they want a chance at 250k they should come out and beat him and everyone else. While you are yammering about how everyone sucks that does CrossFit. Former olympians are trying to compete in CrossFit and not making it to the games.
Arguments like “I think” and “probably” don’t win debates. You want these people to be better than the top CrossFitters at CrossFit. But that does not make it so. If they want to compete the arena is wide open. What is a “REAL” athlete by the way? Are you saying that Aja Barto is not a good athlete? Or a “REAL” athlete?
Another thing. I have never said that CrossFitters are better than anyone else at anything. My argument has been from the beginning that the top CrossFitters are good at nearly everything related to fitness since that is what the sport is. If you are only good at sprinting or deadlifting, you will not make it to the games.
It’s not for me, for what it is I think its bloody expensive (£125 a month for the nearest one to me) but each to their own.
If it’s a sport, a training program or a cult it doesn’t matter because its better than sitting on their arse watching TV.

If you have to ask where Karelin is (and you seem to not even know WHO he is) then there is no point talking to you. But to answer your question in a general sense: they are competing in real sports for more money. Allyson Felix’s Nike contract is worth more than 250K. I’m sure Usain Bolt will give up his track career for Crossfit.

Sorry, I have never cared too much for wrestling. I seriously doubt Usain Bolt would go far in the CrossFit games at all (not that he would want too). In fact I am just about positive. You still have never desribed what a “real” sport is.
What is funny to me is how you say athlete x or y can do this or that, but it is totally hypothetical. Every athlete picks their sport and tries to excel in it and usually respects other athletes in differnt sports. While fat ass couch potatoes argue and whine over who is better and who could have done what. What sport do you compete in?

And Crossfit “athletes” pick a sport in which mediocre (at best) athletes put up mediocre numbers. A six minute mile is nothing to brag about. A 65 second 400 meter time is not even competitive for HS girls. A 450 pound squat at a BW of 225 is a joke. Taken individually or collectively those stats are not impressive at all.
holy shit these crossfit competitions fill up super quick. the ones I found were sold out day of it seems like. crazy.
How would one go from “training to be strong on exercises of my choosing” to “training to compete in crossfit competitions” without going full-kool-aide on an extra $150 a month?
I feel like if I did some barbell complexes and rowed/ran after my strength work, it might get me on the right track of a generally fit base, but i dont think CF does complexes as much as circuits.
Then I would need to learn the zillion weird exercises that come up and a refresher on Oly lifts after a decade away from them.
Maybe throw in some EDT with big exercise combos with weights less than 225. Im not the strongest guy here, but I dont even know how to pull the slack out of 225 without it bounching up and beginning the lift.
And learn to kip
And as always, know when to say no to 50 snatches for time. when my gf started at a box I told her “as soon as you hear"snatches for time” go play on the rings instead or something" Luckily they program really well there. I finally got the story - the guy was regional #4, and top 3 go to games.

You show me a guy who can row 2k do 50 pistols and 30 hang power cleans @ 225 in 11:24 and I respect the hell out of him. Probably because I have a good understanding what it takes to do something like that in that amount of time. I am guessing you have no idea.
Here is where we are different. I have competed in Powerlifting, Strongman, Weightlifting and CrossFit. That is why I respect all of them as valid sports, and I am in awe of the people who are at the top of whatever sport they compete in. When you watch from the sidelines it is easy to pretend you know what is easy, and impressive, and who is better, and who YOU THINK could do what if they wanted to.

Does RKC make you sick, How about the AKC certification, how about the Westside certs, or the USAW certs, or the Rippetoe Barbell cert. It is crazy that these fuckers want to make money off of shit that people WANT to pay for. I fucking hate capitalism. Sickening.
That is why I use this site, they are not in it for the money. T-Nation has no interet in Profit. That is why they have been around for so long: they hate money. I guess you do too.
