I train back on every training day; 4 times a week. I usually pick one lateral plane of motion or one vertical plane of motion lift each day and then on my deadlift day I’ll do 3-4 back movements (this usually includes a shrug)

nice. this is how a strength athlete should train. back work is as important to athletes as arm work and diet is to bodybuilders imho.
