Bicps Taking Over Back Workout

hey there,
Everytime I perform my back workout my biceps seem to fail before my targeted back muscle. I feel as this is causing me to get sub-par back workout because once my arms fail I can no longer do any more reps. Are there any tips or explanations as to why this happens and how can I avoid it. Thanks in advance for your help.

One suggestion I will give that I have seen help a great many ppl is to drop the weight. Learn how to really target the back with the movements you are doing.

You need to concentrate on employing the back muscles to complete the movement and not your bicepts. Rotating more from the shoulder and not at the elbow.

By working with the light controllable weight you will learn to recognize when you are and are not performing the excersize in the correct fashion to hit your back. Then you can transfer this to heavier weights.

Proper form and lighter weight, as opposed to heavy weight and bad form. You will soon progress though, just suck up your pride.

Hope this helps,

Phill

So you are suggesting poor form is causing this?

Can you post the specifics of your back workout? days, exercises, sets, reps?

I am suggesting that you are not using a form that would lead to incorporating the back muscles more than the bicepts. It is a common problem.

Hope that Helps.

Either A: Do lifts to strengthen your grip or B: Get some lifting straps or those 1 ton hooks reviewed here.

I’m with Phil on this. It is very easy to be using your biceps instead of your back muscles when working your back. Try to concentrate on using your back muscles to move they weight. If you can’t then lower the weight. No matter what your biceps are going to get worked but they shouldn’t be failing before you back.
