How strong are you on your bicep exercises that you do? (doesn’t have to be 1RM… in fact that number is pretty irrelevant). And how has that grown in the past 6-12 months? How about tricep work?
Excuse my bitch lifts but here is my approx. progression
in the past 6 months or so ive gone from 30lb dumbell curls to 45-50lb. and 65lb barbell to the 95-110 barbell curl range (5-10 reps)
triceps has gone from 30lb french presses to 60lb french presses. and 55lb skullcrushers to 95-105lb skull crushers(8-10 reps)
No close-grip benches, RGB’s or dips or any of the sort?

I do close grip benches on my chest day. Not sure why I do it. It was suggested by someone and now its part of my routine.
Probably an obv response, but could it be that you’re using too much back and shoulders to do your curls??? Make sure you have good form and are really feeling it in the biceps as opposed to just heaving up the heaviest weight possible.

I like the exercises walanerxx laid out for u, but I wud not do all those exercises for 4 sets each! Add in pullups, then weighted pullups to the exercises above. pic out 3 exercises, do 3-4 sets of each exercise and use the 8-12 rep range. hope this helps
Why is everyone afraid of volume, sheesh.[/quote]
Can’t really blame them though, there’s so much out there about over training and such, people have bought into it.
Or maybe his arms are exactly the size they should be considering the numbers he’s putting up on his arm exercises and his overall-size.
Get stronger, get bigger overall…

Hah thanks, but I have a long way to go. I’ll make one post about this to keep from hijacking. In HS my football coaches wanted us to train 3x a week and it was kind of like a TBT routine, and I hated it, so every chance I got I worked the muscles that didn’t get targeted by this training(which was most of them lol).
So essentially yes, I have been using split routines my entire training career, but like CC said it’s just a matter of progression no matter what you choose. This type of training works for me, maybe not others. Very high volume, every day, all the time.
Arms are 19 inches.

And then all the big guys tell them not to listen to that crap and yet we still get ignored ![]()
oh well lol, they’ll learn.
people really underestimate “slow and controlled” movements
fuck 19 inches bro thats nuts, awesome! cheers PM the thread if ya wouldnt mind and u end up doing it.
would u recommend additional arm excercises during full body
cos im doing starting strength in 4 weeks, and some people do additional arms excercises with it you know, thoughts?

He just told you he didn’t do “full body” and why.
Someone please explain how you ask advice from big guys yet do the complete opposite yet act like that will turn you into one of the big guys?

You lost me there? lol
I’m with Prof X on this one, I just told you what I did and how I got there. I’m willing to bet big bucks that 95%+ of the big muscular guys who are members here follow pretty much the same principles that I outlined. I know Prof X does, among many others. We’ve all made our mistakes and wasted time, so live through our mistakes and save yourself from spinning your wheels.
“A fool learns from his own mistakes, but a wise man learns from the mistakes of others.”
I’m not gonna start the TBT vs split argument again but I will say this. If you want a muscle to grow, target it.

i’m pretty sure this will help your arms get big. start doing them 2 or 3 times a week. Start working out to get a good pump, don’t be afraid of overtraining your probably under training your arms right now, also don’t be afraid to lift lighter weights. Make sure you have a good variety of arm workouts, barbell curls, seated alternate curls, preacher curls, concentration curls are all good start outs. also a good way to finish your workout is by doing a good burnout pump try 21’s. Personally i do 3 sets of outer and 3 sets of inner, on the last set of 21’s i’ll go till failure on the full motion curl. good luck =)
waylanderxx - misinterpreted your statement, thought you meant that you did tbt and did extra for arms to make your arms grow, not that you did tbt and then isolated the rest of your body so it turned into a split routine anyway…
appreciate the response buddy
and prof x - yes im an idiot

no problem, I can see were there could be some confusion. Any other questions feel free to PM me.
How much weight are you using on curls, and how many pullups can you do
