Ok, he didn’t really RUIN it, but I didn’t notice him in the shot until after I looked over this video I took to check my form. My workout was about an hour and 15 min today, and that kid behind me did biceps the whole time (and maybe bench?? At the very least he was sitting on one).
Anyway, I made this thread to update my progress. This is me deadlifting 425. I weighed 154 this morning. I’m currently on the 8th week of the Coan/Phillipi deadlift routine. When I test my true max again I’ll be sure to post another vid and give my own likes/dislikes about the program. Until then, please critique/comment on what you think. I thought this angle would’ve been ok, but now after looking over it a couple times myself I should’ve gone with a direct side shot. Enjoy
tcsimon- you wouldn’t happen to be competing in the battle on the border in charlotte would you? I did that competition last year; that meet was amazing.

The two platform set-up went amazingly smooth, over 100 lifters and everything was cleaned up, loaded in the trailer and we were on our way to diner by 6pm. Jen and Donovan do an outstanding job. I spotted and loaded on the heavyweight platform last year and still had a great time.
Yes, I’ll be competing but bench only (just had hip surgery 3 weeks ago and will be on crutches for another 5 weeks) and probably just enough to qualify to do BP Nationals (bar, 135 and 225?). I’m going to try to learn a shirt for Nats too. I’ll also be helping out, probably not spotting or loading though.
One of these days I’ll update my log to describe the surgery and my recovery. I’ll probably start doing floor presses, pull/chin-ups and dips next week. I’m getting restless…
wow and he was still willing to do curls after seeing someone pull weight like that? baffling. dude was half his size pulling all that damn weight and he kept curling. wonder how much he hits on the deadlift? and yeah, that combo super mega curl slash good morning was killer.
sorry, just have to comment on that guy in back ground. he seems like your typical bench/curl person, you can see that his shoulders are internally rotated and slightly hunched forward, making it look like he has big traps. he really needs to do some upper back work to help pull his shoulders back and rear delt work to even out his dominant front delts. you see this with a lot of boxers and wrestlers because of the positions that their upper body is normally in. sorry, that was just bugging me.
OP- good pull, you did a good job on the setup and keeping a straight back, try to push the hips through when the bar gets to the knee and remember to pull back. keep it up
Awsome pull. You do realize that pulling in a sweat suit is more difficult than shorts. I know it can be difficult to tell if your knees are locked in sweats, but just keep in mind that the judges will be looking.

Thanks beef. Yea, I understand that pulling in sweats makes it more difficult, but I wear them for the sole purpose of keeping my blood off the bar. No matter what happens I always catch myself bleeding in the same spots on my shins, so now I have scars and all that good stuff.
Personally, it doesn’t bother me, but when I do lift with my training partners I try and keep the bar sans-bloody for them and others who might be using it after me…and I do clean up after myself but I guess that just saves one less step. I am glad you brought this to my attention though, when I max out in 2 weeks I’ll be sure to take the sweats off.

Gotta disagree here. I much prefer pulling in sweats because when I try to pull in shorts the bar always get snagged on my quads making lockout harder. It just slides up with pants on.
Here’s my new video. I just finished week 9 of the Coan/Phillipi deadlift routine. This is me deadlifting 435 at a bodyweight of 155. This is officially a new max for me. Although I still have 1 week til I test my true max, I can say this program has been a huge contributor in helping me get over my plateau. If you have the patience, this 10 week program will work. If anyone would like to comment or critique, feel free.
Note: Please ignore my ‘douchey’ air-boxing at the end of the video. I had an audience today, and one of my friends was talking shit to me, saying I couldn’t get it. So I was pretending to punch him in the face.
