I know people are still going to be upset that he’s not “huge” and all,but damn…I see Conan when I look at these pics.
Maybe if Momoa wasn’t so tall(he’s 6’4")…he would give a better “illusion” of being huge.
I think to outhuge Arnold would be difficult anyway if you want an actor worth a damn.
That definitely is closer to the original Conan and to start a franchise it is probably better to get some room between your version an iconic Arnold badassery.
Now all they need to do is to make him a ruthless killer and I am happy.
All those irritated with the Rock losing size should go check out “Fast Five” he definitely put size back on, his acting still sucks but him and Vin Diesal sit there and beat the crap out of each other which is always good times.

The only thing I didn’t like about the trailer was when he did the classic Arnold Conan pose with the sword up and he looked a little small… But besides that it looked sick
I have to admit, I felt the same way.
On the other hand, I kind of wish Momoa was absolutely shredded to appear more like a hungry fighting machine. He’s a tad bit too soft for how the warrior should look, IMHO.
I have no problem with the way Momoa looks, but a neat thing would be if they do another movie after this one and he gains 10 or 20 pounds more, to kind of show Conan’s development. I’m pretty sure this movie is supposed to be him when he’s young am I right?

I miss the original soundtrack too. I also don’t like the “3D moves” in the trailer, but I don’t really like 3D anyway. (bloody glasses, overpriced ticket and headaches) The love interest suggested in the trailer makes me quiver, because this might become a hollywood style of romance which does not fit Conan at all. Plus, Jason Momoa seems to talk too much as Conan.
On the other hand: I, and others, had the same negative thoughts after watching the ‘Batman Begins’ teaser and trailer, but after seeing it I thought it was one of the best movies of that year.

It makes sense though. I absolutely love the original soundtrack and the 2000 recording (some of the tracks are plain perfect), but its speed wouldn’t fit this new movie, judging by the trailer at least.
Conan the Barbarian soundtrack carried the movie. There’s an important absence of dialogue. From the riddle of the steel until he’s training and then set free, ignoring the narrator, there’s easily half hour. Conan just mutters two sentences to Valeria in the entire movie and so on. The acting skills of the main characters are quite limited as well, so the music allowed the movie to flow nicely without the need of dialogues or astounding acting.
For now, I’m disappointed, but I will watch the movie anyways.
