Better Pics of Jason Momoa as Conan

You didn’t answer my question! If you can’t out-act this guy than your size is irrelevant. Show me a guy better suited to play Conan that is bigger than this guy and THEN we can have a discussion.

Then after we settle that discussion we can wiggle our e-peens together, whattaya say?

What do you mean “If” he were an actual historical figure? I saw the actual films of Conan in 1982.

Unfortunately true…I’m trying to block that out of my mind.

Once again I agree. Sigh. I could not even finish Pathfinder.

I might get laughed off the thread but: Dwayne Johnson; Michael Clarke Duncan; Steve Austin; John Cena; Terry Crews. I’m sure there are more qualified fits but that’s all I could think of just now.

I just want to say, I have enjoyed this thread. Probably much more than I will enjoy the movie when it comes out on DVD.

I actually wouldn’t have minded seeing Dwayne Johnson play Conan. I couldn’t see any of the others pulling it off well.

So far this looks awesome. I’m surprised.

This right here gets the “Bitch Please” award for the day. You were the one talking about Momoa being mediocre. No matter how you worded your thoughts, the thought was understood. And obviously, you fail to realize why people were not too pleased with the image from the previous thread, as he looked very soft in the photo that was presented. Now that we have seen more updated photos, people are becoming a lot more open about Momoa as Conan, physically. For you not to understand that makes me question your situational awareness. As for my height, hey, I may be short to you, but to damn near everyone else I encounter, I’m far removed from the term “mediocre”. You’ve just put your ass in the hands of a few people who know how to handle you and your mediocrity. And another thing, while it may not take a full blown thespian to portray Conan, there’s this thing most actors try to do in their roles… what is it??? Ah, basically become the character they are portraying. Make all who see them see not the actor, but the character.
Beast, its the internet. Let it go!
I hope I didn’t insult your intellegence or your manhood. If so, I’m sorry that you get this worked up over a fictional work of art.
I’m not worked up, as this is the internet. I’m simply responding to your posts.

and for me, nothing I see again will match the awesomeness of this scene:

Ok Ok now please don’t hate on me but this scene was epic when I was 10. The fighting is so unrealistic it’s not even funny, Arnolds swordplay is atrocious. Really arnold, the back and forth cross to behind the back when there is no one around. How cool. No, actually how lame. I FULLY expect the new conan to have faster, and WAY more technical swordplay. The reason the origional was so good was because the “Arnold” experience was so new to all of us. People just weren’t that big and muscular back then, remember, there was no ronnie, no jay, he was the end all be all of pro bodybuilding.

Now for our frame of reference, NO ONE is going to look overly massive in any acting role when our frame of reference for “biggest motherfuckers” are Jay and Ronnie and Melvin etc… Hell in any major city gym there is probably 5-10 guys who are bigger than ANYONE you will ever see on the big screen.

All that being said, someone who themselves is 6’4" 240 has absolutely no say in how big someone looks, you are fucking bigger than 99% of the human race. He may not be big to you, but if he is 10 lbs less than you aat the same height or an inch taller, how many times do you walk around and look up to greet someone or feel intimidated by someones size.

I’m 6’0" and right around 200 (ok 195 right now) I AM ABOVE AVERAGE. Sure there are plenty of people larger than I am but there are even more people who are not. I was a stargate atlantis fan and I loved him in that role. He can pull off badass, trust me. If he needs to go killing spree nasty, he is going to make you believe that.

So in any even’t I think he is going to be a WAY better Conan than Arnold, and I think the movie will be great, as long as the directing is great.

Please. The Rock shrunk. Last I saw him, I doubt he was barely much over 200lbs. Disney movies removed all of “the rocks”.

If he is, I do believe it is time for T-Nation’s first All American Lynching via internet.

I have never watched Stargate Atlantis but now that those of you who have are saying this guy is badass in that show I may need to rent it and check it out.

I never followed SGA, so to speak, however I got it in when I could, and sometimes watch reruns.

Momoa has POTENTIAL to play Conan, based off of his scenes that I know of.

Momoa does not quite play a ‘space-barbarian’, or someone quite as over the top as Conan, but you can see potential if the script allows for ruthlessness.

SGA Momoa, was my favourite character, because he was the closest thing to an anti-hero, which Conan SHOULD typify, BEFORE he typifies a Bodybuilder.

All of this and more which I will not bother any one with, were reasons for my firm stance that Momoa would not ‘ruin’ Conan, all by himself, other factors could still harm the final product, but again Momoa is a good choice. I am glad more people are as excited about this film as me now.

Err, besides the obvious bad editing resulting in “phantom” cuts on a few people, what was wrong with the swordplay in Arnold’s Conan?

If the new conan starts doing somersaulting backflip sword slashes, I’ll puke.

The original conan film still has something no other films these days have: organic adventure. It looks real, it doesn’t feel like I’m watching a video game.

Well, the majority of the people buying tickets grew up on video games and Matrix movies.

I agree that over the top antics like they did in that second Punisher movie that few people saw will make a movie suck…but I am sure they know this as well…and the people buying tickets usually want to see some level of eye candy or else they won’t be buying tickets.

One thing I can say is that movies lately have bee better overall than they were even 7 years ago. For a while there, I didn’t even go to a movie theater for years.

I think there was a huge gap in attendance from maybe The Matrix to Batman Begins.

Let’s just hope they don’t pull a GI Joe on us.
