Better Pics of Jason Momoa as Conan

I think he will look fine. Since everyone perceives big relative to fight club…

It would not surprise me if he was a little heavier than that, but, based on the photos, he’s in pretty damned good shape. A lot better shape than I’m in, that’s for sure. I think he fits the role pretty damn good. You, sir, sound like a hater. Dude looks more like Conan than Arnold. Plain and simple. And I’m sure you’ll be in line to see the movie just like everyone else.

Why would I hate on a dude who has a lower height to mass ratio that most of the serious lifters on this thread. I myself am 6’3 240 so I at least have a point of reference.

And you, sir, sound mediocre to me. I’m 5’10, 250. So, I guess my point of reference is superior to yours. Get off your high-horse, man. Judging from the pics, Momoa has done a pretty damn good job of putting on mass. Where he is right now is probably best for him as playing Conan is a seriously physical role, I imagine. Do you honestly think you would be able to keep pace? Doubtful. It’s always easy to put people down from behind the laptop.

Are you suggesting that Momoa is somehow mediocre? He’s the lead fucking role in Conan the fucking Barbarian. And he managed it even though he’s not a big as you.

I guess our definitions of mediocrity are different.

Wow all these personal attacks because I said we accept him. He is mediocre in what I expect of the role and based on the previous thread he was for many of you. Now yet you accept him. Its funny how people pick up on what they want to read. I never said he was mediocre in either his acting or his body. Those are his personal choices. But those of you who said you wanted a Bodybuilder type and now trumpet this as acceptable have accepted mediocracy.

The movie for me has never been about the acting. If any of you thought the REAL conan was a great thespian you need more culture.

It’s not about stats, it’s about how he looks and the presence he carries. And excellence is relative to whatever endeavor you engage in and how much effort you put in. At 5’7" and 240 and having been eating like a bird and not touching a weight at all for the past 2 months (as a point of reference); I could shit all over your stats as mediocre, but your 6’3" at 240 may very well be striving for excellence for you.
Point taken but not relevant. The focus is that most on this thread wanted a larger conan. A 10 pound increase isn’t it but to now say, he’s sufficient is an acceptance of mediocracy.

No one is saying this guy is huge.

Could you do a better job acting as Conan?
I don’t think acting like Conan is much of a challenge and hardly a stretch for any trained actor. Looking the part is altogether different.

I accept all apologies via PM.

Maybe your own mediocrity is keeping you from seeing why most have changed their tone now that better pics are available. Will your accusation of mediocrity be even less once it is shown that people support him as Conan because he can also play the part i.e. wielding the sword and being a violent bad ass???

haha…well, there is too sensitive and incognitive. I think you’ve shown which end you belong on in relation to the topic.

If that’s what people like - ok. It bothers me all of this much(0). But the last thread was about how small he was compared to what the expectation is - ie Arnold. Now the guy supposedly puts on 10 lbs and he’s awesome. If they wanted Arnold but accept Momosa (thats a drink right) then they have either accepted a lesser version (mediocrity) or they feel he is comparable to Arnold.

Honestly, I don’t see why people would get upset over something so trivial.

This right here gets the “Bitch Please” award for the day. You were the one talking about Momoa being mediocre. No matter how you worded your thoughts, the thought was understood. And obviously, you fail to realize why people were not too pleased with the image from the previous thread, as he looked very soft in the photo that was presented.

Now that we have seen more updated photos, people are becoming a lot more open about Momoa as Conan, physically. For you not to understand that makes me question your situational awareness. As for my height, hey, I may be short to you, but to damn near everyone else I encounter, I’m far removed from the term “mediocre”. You’ve just put your ass in the hands of a few people who know how to handle you and your mediocrity.

And another thing, while it may not take a full blown thespian to portray Conan, there’s this thing most actors try to do in their roles… what is it??? Ah, basically become the character they are portraying. Make all who see them see not the actor, but the character.

Beast, its the internet. Let it go!
I hope I didn’t insult your intellegence or your manhood. If so, I’m sorry that you get this worked up over a fictional work of art.

I hate to say it again, but while he does look alot better here, it’s still got a shitty director.

and for me, nothing I see again will match the awesomeness of this scene:

Correction: It bothered you enough to comment on it…that adds up to more than (0)…maybe 0.999…??

Anyways,I do see your points…but the aspect of the argument I laid out in my original posts has missed you:

…but I’m sure these pics will make for a better discussion of Frazetta’s image of Conan versus Arnold’s image as being a more “true” representation of Howard’s descriptions.

As for those who you are talking about,I give them the benefit of a doubt. The pics that started that other thread were void of the “Hollywood touch” and people had no real basis to judge if Momoa made a good Conan other than sheer size. Also,in that thread plenty of people focused on the fact that Arnold was NOT the prototypical Conan based on Howard’s descriptions.
