I don’t understand what is wrong with half of these exercises. I also don’t understand why this thread is in the bodybuilding section. We reallllly need to clean this shit up.

Because we’re discussing the best and worst exercices for muscle building? How is that hard to understand? And also, there is of course nothing wrong with half of these exercices, I think player just wanted to see which exercices everyone thought was better. Nothing wrong with that. At least he created a constructive post which you sure as hell didn’t.
Some people jut enter threads to say the thread is useless and people in it are idiots. I always try to go to threads and say what I think, but it seems a real pleasure for some people to just get in a thread to talk shit. Thanks for the comprehension

Put your opininon in what r the best and the worst exercises for the muscle groups:

Chest, Bis, Tris, Legs, Back, Shoulder

For me:

Chest: Push-ups / Peck dec fly
Bis: CG Chin-Up / Machine Curl
Tris: Dips / Kickback
Legs: Front Squat / Adductor Machine
Back: Deadlift / N/A
Shoulder: DB Shoulder Press / Machine Raises

I can’t believe no one has asked this already but…

Pushups are your best chest builder? Really???
For me it is, I do it we 3 of the 45s in my back, there will eventually come a time in which it becomes impractical. I also really enjoy them and Im also progressing like crazy in them. Id say anybody could give it a try.

Chest: Bench press / Push ups-bodyweight exercise, does not build much for me-
Bis: Preacher curl / Standing curls-doesn’t isolate well for me-
Tris: Face smasher, w/e its called/ Kickback
Legs: Front Squat / Running
Back: Deadlift / power cleans, I’m not good at them
Shoulder: push press / dumbbell raises

Ok here’s my take on best and worst for gaining muscle in size AND quality(shape/seperation);

Chest: Flat Bench(BB/DB)/Pullovers(BB/DB)

Bis: Preacher BB Curl(variations)/Concentration Curl

Tris: Lying BB Tri Extensions(Skullcrusher)/Kickbacks

Quads: Back Squats ATG/Leg Press (yes for quads, these definitely before Leg Extensions as worse)

Hammys: Romanian Deadlifts/Lying leg curl

Back: Weighted Wide Pull Ups/Seated Row

Shoulder: BB Military Press/Cable laterals

Traps: BB Shrugs/Machine Shrugs

Cool thread btw op! Just opinions for the heck of it.

ToneBone

Chest: Incline HS press/ Flat bench press
Tri: Skullcrushers/ Kickback
Quad: Walking lunges/ front squat
Hammy: Deadlifts/ N/a
Back: Chin ups/ Rear pulldown
Shoulder: Bent lateral raise/ miltary press
Traps: HS standing shrugs/ BB shrugs
Calf: Seated calf ext/ Standing calf raise

Odd choices for the worst exercises for those muscle groups, I definitely disagree but w/e works for you I guess.

Best/ worst

chest; Barbell bench press/ pec deck
Legs; Barbell back or front squat/ leg extension

Back; Deadlift/ lat pull down (still good though)

Biceps; Barbell curl

Tricep; dips/ rope pull downs.

Shoulders; Military press/ seated machine press

Just a note here, but why are some of you guys not seperating legs into quads/hams, especially when we’re splitting the upper arm(much smaller appendage) into bi’s and tri’s?

You can tell a lot about the person lifting with that note me thinks.

Listing best:

chest: flat and incline bench

Back: deadlift–(i concentrate on using lower back as “part” of deadlift…some versions of deadlift do not use lower back as you lift strictly using the legs…i dont believe in that version as it basically mimicks the squat which i alreadly do), bent over/seated rows, and chinups/pulldowns

Biceps: Barbell curl

Tricep: standing skull crushers with db…standing allows a really good stretch and range of motion.

Shoulders; Military press, lateral raises, and bent over lateral raises

Quads: squat and leg press (i always do both)

Hams: leg curls

calves: donkey calf raises or calf raises on leg press

forearms: wrist curls and reverse wrist curls

I followed the template of the op

OK, I’ll play.

Chest: db press (flat and 30 deg inc)/db flys

bis: heavy standing bb curls with minimal cheating/heavy standing bb curls with lots of cheating

tris: dips/rope pulldowns

quads and glutes: atg squats/making bullshit excuses for not squatting

hams, glutes and back thickness: RDL/back extensions

back width: chins or pullups/assisted chins and pulls with way too much bodyweight offset by the machine

shoulders: push press and seated db military press/seated smith machine military press

Best…for me:

deadlift
back Squat
flat barbell bench
barbell bent over row
db incline bench
one arm db overhead press
weighted dips
close grip bench
tri ext w/db
chinups/pullups
barbell curl…standing or preacher
db shrugs

no belt, no straps, no bullshit.

Yeah Shizen, yours was good stuff imo.

For me its

Chest: DB Bench/Flies
Bi’s: Preacher/not sure
Tri’s: Tricep pushdown with rope/ Skullcrushers
Legs: Back Squat/Hack Squat
Back: Deadlift/not sure
Shoulder: BB MIlitary Press/Standing DB shoulder press

Reading all these lists, I’ve been searching for a good main triceps exercise. I do a lot of benching (2x a week) and have a day dedicated to arms. But I can’t do close grip and dips, there is a bit of pain when doing those exercises. I was thinking heavy tate presses and/or DB skullcrushers… what do you guys think?

skullcrushers are amazing you should do them, very hard and you can load a lot of weight. Do both barbell and dumbbells, nothing hits my triceps harder.

Coming from a strength guy’s POV:

Chest: PL Bench / Peck Dec
Bis: Chins / SQUAT RACK CURLS
Tris: Dips / Kickback
Legs: Sumo Deadlift / Leg Extension
Back: Pullups / Bent Lateral Raise
Shoulder: Clean and Press / Machine Raises

Yup. I hate Squat Rack Curls.

Yeah, skullcrushers are amazing. I find overhead skullcrushers hit my triceps the best.

I agree with this, I find I get more direct chest stimulus from fly movements that I do on pressing.

Really at the end of the day most exercises have their place but some are only secondary to the main lifts.

Give DB tri extensions a shot. Use one heavy dumbell and an inline bench with adjustable seat or sit backwards on a preacher bench. Great ROM.
