Best training program to gain weight?.....

I’m doing a 5x5 core lift and 3x8 supp program.

squat
bench
dead
power clean
leg press
calf raises
leg raises
shrugs
curls
dips
incline

Should I stick with what I’ve got or switch?

I’m eating 6000 a day right now and have been stuck around 205-210 for a few days now. I refuse to believe I need more than 6000. Is this possible?

If you’ve been doing that for a while, why not switch it up? Have you tried EDT yet?

Or Westside…

You’re the only person I ever seen that has the genetics to measure progress from day to day.

The best program is the one you’re not doing right now.

As Charles Staley has said in the past, “there is no best way.” And most likely, doing something different will give you better gains.

So do as Don Alessi has said in T-mag and do whatever training program inspires you at the moment. Just be sure to give it several weeks to gauge its effectiveness. Then, feel free to change it up again!

same advice as the other guys…but when you switch, try to switch to a damatically differnet program. alternate between intensity focused and volume focused programs.

Unless your LBM is 205-210 meaning you have a 0 bodyfat % i think 6000 calories will be more than sufficient to gain weight.

That’s what I don’t get. I gained about 15 lbs rapidly steadily working my way up from 4500 to 6000 calories, and around the time I started using 6000, the progress stopped and I’m still hungry. Is it scientifically possible to need over 6000 at 10% bodyfat?

I’d try westside. Also, let your bodyfat sldie up a little bit. shock yopurself by adding some additional “bad calories”. JM Blakely had some funny stories on weight gain. Dave tate told me this one : order a large pizza, sit it down in front of you, then spread olive oil all over it, then eat it all. You’ll gain weight. Seriouisly, youy might have to let the bodyfat slide up 2-5%.

Irondoc-I love it. As soon as i stopped being namby pampy i started getting bigger and stronger.

I’m with you guys on that one!

WAtch out for my lifts now… I found Krispy Kremes. Imagine a night of chicken wings, guiness, and donuts!

Some more great tips from JM. Carry a jar of mayonnaise with you everywhere, and dip everything you eat into it. Honey is great on potato chips. It only takes three minutes to eat three candy bars.

I just at 30 buffalo wings, fries, and a beer. How’s that? hehe

measure your progress every week, not every day. Try to have a goal and then reach for that goal. 6000 claories sounds insane for a 210 pounder. I hope you getting in atleast 400 grams protein a day with carb loading mornings and fat loading evenings cause that many calories means fat gain. laters pk

So, if I switch to eating carbs at the beginning of the day and fat at the end (pc pc pc pc pc pf pf pf pf), I will gain less fat?

For the most part, that should work. Also, it depends on what type of food you are eating as part of your P+C and P+F meals, and, of course, your training program.

nate dogg is correct. the reason i made that statement is because the body has better insulin sensitivity in the morning and it decreases through out the day and consuming fats at night will switch you to a fat burning mode. laters pk

Goldberg: Do you feel that the massive guidelines were holding back your progress? You’re obviously big and strong, so I would appreciate your input on this subject.

Ahh, I see. Just so you know this is my diet:

p+c : protein shake or 8oz chicken breast or turkey
a few bananas
a few apples
oatmeal
OJ
sometimes cereal

p+f : 8oz beef, tuna, salmon, or protein shake mixed w/flax seed or saflour oil.
