Too much fruit will make you fat. The body recognizes fruit as sugar, even if it is healthy for you. There is a point in eating a moderate amount for health reasons, and eating too much. And you are obviously eating way too much fruit, especially in one sitting.
Cut back on the fruit. Eat more green veggies instead. Limit fruit to 1-3 servings per day, and keep it to low-glycemic fruits like berries, apples and oranges.
This was supposed to go here.
No, i dont. I got the leanest i have ever been by eating milk isolate and flax oil all day except for hamburger steaks and a post workout meal. I never mixed fat and carbs. But with a very busy schedule and not caring if i gain some fat, i just started eating more of everything. It is hard to eat the carbs you need for training in only 3 or 4 meals per day. I do something everyday so i need as much glycogen as i can get. And with my height im gonna need to weigh close to 300 lbs at some point to fully exploit my leverages. so weight gain is not much of a problem for me.
Kurt,
I would replace the OJ with some fiber cereal (Fiber One) or maybe add another 1/2 cup of oatmeal (100% rolled oats)…stay clear of the packaged, flavored kind, or try a serving of yams with a serving of peas
Hmm, this is starting to suck. I was eating quaker oats, flavored apple and cinnamon. I think it had like 15g sugars per serving. I guess I can understand why. It’s so good though.
As far as the yams go, just yams? no potatos?
I can’t believe the oj’s got to go. I love that shit. The thing here is, I’ve been having a post-workout shake, mixed with oj and 40g protein, and some powerade before that. Now, that Oj has basically been erased from my diet, where is all the vitamin C going to be coming from. I’m only getting in three C 1000’s daily right now, plus my multivitamin from GNC. It gives me 500mg a day.
go to Costco and get 9 lbs of 100% Rolled Oats-Quaker. It’s like $6.54 plus tax…Insanely cheap. That should last you awhile. Don’t put sugar on them though. Eat them straight up.
I dont see why Kurt has to drop his OJ from his diet to replace it with a food item he doesnt enjoy?!?! Let’s face it, fructose doesn’t have the same effect on him as it does with most people.
That’s what I’m afraid of. If I erase fructose from my diet, I might lose something as far as gains go. However, the only way to know what works best is to try, and that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve never heard of Costco though. Would they have it at food lion or wally world?
Sweet Potatoes or Yams
Brown Rice
Black Beans
100% Oats
Muesli
Fibrous Vegetables
Any Lenti or legume
I just don’t understand anyone who says they have trouble gaining weight. The easiest explanation is always you don’t eat enough. Gaining weight is easy, gaining good weight is another story. And you’re not going to gain good weight eating fruit and OJ for every carb meal.
