GBL is the chrome wheel cleaner? how much of that do you take? and it works like ghb?

It converts quite freely to GHB.

Be very careful with the stuff.

+1 on benadryl. +2 with depressants like EtOH or Narc

have you ever tried whole milk 1-2 hours before bed? high in tryptophan, and also will give you a little spike in insulin to help you sleep. By the time you hop in bed your blood sugar levels will be stable.

but if you are all stressed out before sleep, you need to relax and laugh. what I do is watch something funny before sleep to get my mind off things, like The Daily Show on Hulu or something like that. then read some boring articles in The Economist in bed, haha.

There is a lot of debates and literature out there that on whether or not tryptophan from food sources is capable of causing sleepiness.

oh. I just remember reading that from Dr. Serrano and that dude is a pretty smart dude.

edit: but I mean c’mon, grandmum always said to drink a glass of warm milk before bed. I don’t think we need a lot of debates/literature to see that she’s been right all along.

That’s true. Grandma was pretty shredded. The Depends really detracted from the asthetic of her physique though.

Does anyone have experience with sleeping aid supplements that can be purchased without a prescription? I’ve tried ZMA but it doesn’t help me get to sleep (it did help me feel better rested though). I am interesting in some of the other options: melatonin, etc.[/quote]

I use 1/2 a zopiclone/ambien at night - very small dose, lets me fall asleep fast, and no hangover next day. BUT you have to be careful not to use more than that, as MANY people become addicted to it. I’ve used it for 7 or 8 years. Equivelant of 3.5 pills a week, doctors said it’s no problem at all, small doses and we all know how important sleep it.

Also, try taking an over the counter antihistamine. They are safe to take and make you drowsy and sleepy. This is the best non prescription sleeping aid.

But first try sleeping with earplugs and a sleeping mask (those things to cover your eyes). haha. This has worked amazingly for me - more effective than any supplement.

Good luck!

I’ve had a lot of sucess sleeping lately using Serine Phosphate.

i never experienced anything taking up to 6 caps of Z-12 a night. That’s the only disappointment I’ve had with Biotest.

I struggle on the nights I have bjj/kickboxing class to sleep.

class till 9, home to eat and shower, done by 10:30…last week i was up until 6am the next day.

tried it all:

zma
melatonin
Valerian
sex
booze
stretching
more food
more sex

gonna try the meditation thing tonight. though i don’t know how to ‘really’ do it. time to google…

Sex will work for me, but only if followed by milk and cookies. Maybe it’s just the milk and cookies.

I’d be interested to see if anyone else had experiences like this. I am considering purchasing some melatonin after the responses to this thread, but I definitely don’t want to start cutting my sleep short.

not sure that would happen to you,but its so cheap,I get it online, use half a dose 1.5 mg and it last 2 months for like 6 bucks,pm me ill tell you what site

My body naturally prefers to sleep in the daytime & remain awake at night. Since I have a job with normal hours, I take a lot of sleep aids:

Try a Benadryl or two. Two works better.

Sleep MD (I’m using brand names since it says you’re in Georgia & I’m assuming you have access to the same brands I’m using in Texas).

Valerian root. One will relax you, two should knock you out. If it’s fresh it will smell horrible. If the smell doesn’t completely disgust you it’s not fresh enough to work well.

Melatonin.

When I don’t have to wake up too early I take 2 ZMA + 1 Z-12. Z-12 makes me sleep longer than usual, but I feel fantastic the day after using both together. More than 2 Z-12 & I’ll sleep over 12 hours & be groggy the entire next day.
