Best Rap Lyrics...
BIGERIC wrote:
You have a point. I don’t think any mucic is superior over another. I did read through these other lyrics and i see a few other phrases that are common. Most of which are considered vulgar.
I listen to all different kinds of music. I can’t say i pick one particular genre. I own a montain of cd’s from different types and times. But I did see on song on here that I like by RUN DMC.
But like I said in a previous post this stuff does tend to get shoved down peoples throats. And I have heard quite a bit of rap because there is a certain group of individuals that have to dominate the cd player/ radio in the breakroom at work. To say I am biggoted(I know you didn’t say this) is wrong. I will listin to “soul” any day of the week.
As far as common phrases and sayings; I think it will always be more prevelant in rap because lyrics and spoken words are so important to the music. In other genres, the music itself and style of music is going to be more common and heard from song to song(think Green Day and Blink 182–hell, every Blink 182 song sounds the same). If you listen to other genres, and remove the lyrics, I think most songs will sound very similar.

Regarding rap being shoved down people’s throats; I don’t know. I think whatever’s popular gets shoved down people’s throats. If there’s a lot of rap on the top 40 or top 100 or whatever, then that’s what we will hear. But, like I said before, the best rap usually gets little or no airplay.

I also think rap as a whole is very watered-down and talentless right now. There’s not a lot of new stuff I like anymore. Of course that could just be me getting old.

If I could start from scratch, I wouldn’t change shit
Same red bandana, same four-fifth
Same G-wagon, same hoodrat bitch
Workers in the kitchen cookin up my shit

That mean the same hollow tips breakin up in my chest
Same bloody t-shirt, same address
Same “Dogg Food” album bangin in my tape deck
Homey if I can make '94 today
I’d tell Eazy and Dre to bring back N.W.A.
I woulda told 'Pac not to stomp out Orlando
Told Puffy and Big about the Rampart scandal
I got too many dead homies, fuck a rap career
I’d give anything in the world to bring back my nigga Tear

Why…???

Why is it cool for you to blare your explicit rap-crap when I and many other on the road have young children in the back seat while your car sounds out words like “Nigger, Mother-Fucker, I’m gonna fuck you”…etc? And I can’t stop it because you spend 3k on a sound system in your 1,500 dollar honda…with rims.

To all you wannabe gangsters, punks and “Morons” who do this…Get a life. Grow up. Be considerate to others.

What ever happened to beautiful poetic lyrics?

Now you just go extremely literal in the…what I hate to call “music”. Like …"I want some ass…give me that pussy…etc. These Rap ‘stars’ are far from talented…and generally irresponsible with their fame.

To you who listen and do not overbear the stuff on me…cool…you all have that right, just don’t bring your crap into my families personal space.
BIGERIC wrote:
There is no such thing as good rap lyrics. Rap music or should I say noise is terrible. There is nothing inspirational about any rap song I have ever heard. In fact most modern rap songs don’t even rhyme anymore.
Here here…

To comment on the above argument…I used to be one to defend rap or hip hop. But you have to admit on the surface/in the mainstream it is as bleak as rock or r&b. Mainstream will always predominantly be for people who like simplistic music that just doesn’t evolve. The difference is that most of rap in the top 40 is, as one poster wrote, vulgar, and more importantly unartistic. When you talk about getting pussy this and rollin on dubs that, all you’re doing is getting pussy and rollin on dubs. Its so one dimensional. Lyrics are supposed to be much more deep, something that never gets old no matter how many times you look them. Lyrics ARE poetry. Compare some of the one dimensional lyrics posted on this thread with some of the deeper, and you can’t deny this. At the same time the further away you get from money the more quality you see in the music. This goes, hands down, with any genre. Just some thoughts while I was reading other posts.

Binary star, Blackalicious, Aesop, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Del, Hieroglyphics, good stuff.

And people into rock dont blare their music out?Or is it perhaps because its ur musical pref you choose to ignore it?And as for morality so what about Hate metal? Inciting racism?Dont know about US but its against British law to produce public material such as that. There is good and bad in everything in life, people, music whatever, but to judge everything and base an opinion on a few examples is sheer stupidity at best.

Sure most rap is CRAP but there is some cultured rap out there in rap,Artists such as Common, Mos Def,Brother Ali and Sage Francis to name a few,I only think a few on this thread actually are the type to blare their music out or listen to the sh1t ppl like to call rap.I for one dont think it’s “cool” to have my music blaring its stupid, gives me a headache, and to be honest why would I want to risk ear damage? As for the obscenities,I think people are waaay too uptight about it,personally what I found places like Sweden and Holland where people are relaxed about such things the kids are much more mature and they have one of the lowest teenage pregnancy rates, and here in England where it’s taboo we have the highest (or maybe its bad parenting on our part?)anyways in relevance to the topic I agree people should turn down their music whether rap/rock/classical whatever the fuck, as its sound pollution and a nuisance.

It seems like most of you are into rap that’s not all thugged out and meaningless. So just in case you’re running low on music, the fortminor CD is comming out soon. Lpfuse has a few of their songs from a live show they did, sounds pretty damn good. Mike got some pretty good talent on that album. I’ll be the first to download it when it hits stores.

Another thing that makes me wonder how people can listen to this stuff. These guys make up words.
I’ve never heard a poet making up words just so he could get two lines in a poem to rhyme. some times it cracks me up. Especially when you hear the listeners going around saying these words.Man

The above still has no true poetic flow.

For rap, this is ok. Still has no real poetic undertones. But rap is not about that right? Straight and to the point. I care not to listen to it, and that’s me. To the hate rock, I feel the same…turn it down!

Anyway, good on ya, take care! Rape on, but please turn it down whenever you are blasting it.

Think of it as you smoking in a closed space with non smokers.

To everyone who thinks rap is all the same , read the lyrics by the last emperor I just wrote. It’s pretty narrow minded to pigeon hole a genre by disliking something you heard on the local pop station. Expand your horizons

Welcome to your own death

As I bail through the woods of the southside
Terrors on nine milli chrome kill alone cause I trust no sniiiiitch
When I peel a dome and bail
Gone like hell right through the do
I’m rollin’ a fat sack of red boogy boo, nigga ooh
Watch me bail nigga but you don’t see me though
Cause I’m rollin’ fat sacks in the back of my vehicle
But takin’ a puff of the dank stuff
and enough that double O-A-E dooz me
I’m slowly loadin’ up the uzi
Well now who’s he
Well it’s that dead motherfucker do
Well whatcha know comin’ through wit that murder mo
And I heard you know now whose been bustin’ up on the garden block
You either give up the information,
nigga or get shot, so nigga now WHAT!
I guess you wanna dose of this milla
Twenty-four shots from that mommas baby killa
Nigga mack hustla, cap busta, in fact I’m just a mac ten
Bustin’ em at your chin before I crept nigga
Welcome to your own death

Chorus x6
Nigga welcome to your own death

(BUCK! For them who don’t know bout loc to da brain
Them got them nine millimeter strap and true is the game) x2

Some niggas miss my sicc
Some niggas don’t know me, niggas don’t know my click
That O-loc-double-C-O-G rip gut canibal type of shit
Plus many more caps bust
Anymore sacks to roll up, we need that high back
So niggas unload them nines and pull them high jacks
And lie back in the cut and roll another fat one up
Tack one up for loc to the brain
Them niggas that really don’t give a fuck
Around and get buck, shot it up and dump in a truck and left in a cut
So nigga now what ya gon do with a mini mac ten aimed at yo gut
Plus niggas nuts and guts is what I rips for
Creepin’ up in a six four impala
Mobbin’ a loots all up to make you vomit from the raw gut cause
Nah what I do is let my nine do the talkin’
Leavin’ you walkin’ to your funeral loc the smoke from the mac 1-0
I had been bustin’ just in case
I got me a mack eleven for your face that’s leavin’ no trace
Caps leavin’ a gate and puttin’ holes in a niggas neck
So watch the reeper when I creep crept
Welcome to your own death

Chorus x6

When I hit the block with a nine
Them fools better be duckin’
My nigga duck got out the car and started buckin’ at niggas runnin’
untraceable gage shells
Only worry is goin’ to hell
And 5-0 they just can’t swoop
See cause we mobbin’ too well
My murder file done piled more than a nigga expected
See cause have of the city of Sac still ain’t accepted
That I’m a pack and when I’m sweated I’ma put in work
Cause my OG told me why niggas got to kick up some dirt
And I’m tired of warnin’ a motherfucker about a nigga like me
When it’s hard to believe
the nine millimeter comin’ out my pants gonna make you dance
See that’s the city and it’s making a motherfucker stress
Gotta watch your back like 24-7
unless you wanna be livin’ the rest of your life
Up in a cemetery die nigga die I will repeat until you’re buried
That nine millimeter givin’ no motherfuckin’ respect
Up on your back with your last breathe
Welcome to your own death

GREAT song.

So…this is the rap artist’s fault? You’re blaming an entire genre of music for the irresponsibilities of people in the area you live? Is it okay for David Allen Coe to say “nigger” ten times in one song since it’s country and not rap?

I just don’t know exactly where you’re coming from. Is the problem with the music or the people that listen to it? Then, you know there are different sub-genres of rap, right? Not all rap is “thugged-out”. Not even all mainstream rap is “thugged-out”. Kanye West comes immediately to mind.

My problem with posts like this is their only exposure to rap is from someone else ten inch woofers. They hear some explicit lyrics on the street somewhere and assume all rap is like this. Very close-minded.

Poets make up words all the time; especially new contractions. 'Ere, o’er, ‘fore, ev’n, thro’, 'mid, etc., etc.

It’s just creativity. And if people go around and say these new “words”; well, you know what they say about imitation and flattery.

Fo’ schizzle,

man, you sound like a closed minded scared man about this subject. the world doesn’t revolve around you, that’s why there’s music for EVERYONE’s enjoyment, and not just yours. isn’t that cool? that’s why i can appreciate all different kinds of rap and mozart and garth brooks, all at the same time. everyone lighten up, stop being lazy haters
toocul4u wrote:

I’m hardly closed minded, nor am I scared. Your right, I have stereotyped rap since what I DO hear is explicit crap coming out of kids cars. The world does not revolve around me, but for the guy who has all 10 cars attention around him…blaring his untalented vulger crap…then who is the world revolving around in that situation? Why force a dysfunctional violent message to everyone in earshot?

Don’t get me wrong. I am making 2 points.

1, Most rap is indecent, unartistic bantering about being coooo in da’ hood. I don’t care for it.

Now some of the early stuff in the 80’s was good. It never brought violent behavior toward people or women into the mix.

Second point. TURN THE SHIT DOWN! I’ll turn my Lynard Skynard down and techno down…even though it has no explicit lyrics. The world revolves around providing for ourselves, society and to our childern. If you are indecent enough to play it like you do in cars load and for everyone to hear, as far as I’m concerned it’s like you calling my little girl a slut or ho or talking to her in the manner in which the speakers are. If you do not understand this as a human, or kid, you deserve to get pulled out of your car and have your ass kicked in front of everyone.

If you are not like the above, then cool. If you are, please reconsider it each time you get around an area where small children are…even adults like me. It’s called common courtesy.
