There’s a local supplement shop going out of business, so i decided to take a little look see. Some not bad prices. Lots of stuff at cost. Then the clerk started talking about the whey they used to make, then said he would be able to sell some other bulk stuff for cheap.
Naturally I inquired about it. This guy goes in the back and brings out a 27 pound bag of protein and asked how much I would pay for it. So, I said $50. Dude was like, “yeah, that sounds good”. I was all like, “get the fuck out”. Anyway, he went and checked the price. It was $200 at cost. This guy still sold it to me for $100. Yeah, that’s awesome.

Can someone please explain to me what you are looking for when people are saying is protein a good quality??
I mean I guess if you’re looking for hydrolyzed protein then the amount of hydrolyzation is of concern and if maltodextrin or dextrose is the main ingredient that isn’t good. But Whey is whey, all whey proteins contain BCAA’s but I guess the amount is of concern. But i hear people talk about “quality” protein often. Other than grams of protein per serving and the type of whey what else matters really, whey is whey IMO? Anyone ever notice a difference between different types of whey protein?? And I don’t mean weight gainers or protein and creatine mixes or PWO drinks. Strictly speaking, what differences have people felt in the different brands of Whey?

I have quite literally FELT different proteins. And so have other people’s nostrils. Some protein just does not sit right. hahaha
But was the only difference betweeb the protein that gave you gas vs the one that didn’t the brand? Or did you switch the type of protein up? Isolate vs concentrate etc?
So what do you look for in a quality protein or do you just go off what doesn’t give you bubble guts? I’m just trying to wrap my head around what it is people look for in protein or is it more of a try and see approach? In which case quality protein for me may be bathroom clearing protein for you depending on your own digestive system.

Whey protein concentrates can be bought all day long for $5 a pound and under…why? Because they suck thats why. I guarantee you did not buy a quality protein for that price …you got crap in a bag. Now there are some good bulk suppliers of quality material out there but its not going to be under $5 a pound thtas for sure.
When you really look at quality products on the market (isolates, hydrosolates, caseins) you quickly realize you are best off just buying Metabolic Drive low carb, at least your body can actually digest it which is more than i can say for the cheap ass imported WPC’s

MP, nice to see you around.
I agree about quality proteins, simply in that I cannot ingest anything that’s really crap in quality, I may as well take pure laxatives.
I came into this post thinking the OP was going to share a fantastic deal with fellow T-Nationites but BAH! Whatever.
Good score man, hope you can finish it all… was there an expiry date? Man I hope it was not all Banana Mocha Almond Fudge Ripple blast flavour or something like that.
(Those random flavours are the ones that always get, ahem, clearance priced)
I gotta hit up Costco next time I’m in the US. that 6 lbs for under $30 sounds good
