In the Surge Workout Fuel thread it says taking with BCAA is not needed or recommended.

at 5’10’’ 175, your only supplement should be whey protein and gatorade for your pre-workout mix.
That’s a pretty ignorant comment.
I agree that newbies shouldn’t get carried away with their supplementation, but there’s absolutely no good reason one shouldn’t use any of the products I’ve seen listed in this thread.[/quote]
So I suppose if ProfX made that comment you’d just keep your mouth shut right?
Most people’s suggestions have been totally congruent with mine (more PWO and / or food…hell, even caffeine is dirt cheap), but a specific supplement just on PRE workout like Spike or the $50 for a small can of Surge WO Fuel…for a 175 lb kid? Where is the economic rationality behind that?

Hurry, hurry, send the supplement police to arrest that man!
Seriously, while some may not see a need for that nor recommend it, the world will not end if one decides to gasp… do that. I still slam my BCAA’s pre workout no matter what other supp I choose to also take pre workout.

It was an ignorant comment irrespective of who made it.
When i started lifting, I was big into NO Explode, it does get you jacked mentally, but you soon realize the pumps you get dont last for more than an hour or 2. I’ve tried basically every pre-workout there it
Agent Orange
No Explode
No Shotgun
Cytosport Fast Twitch
EndoRush
BANG
Spike Shooter
…the list keeps going
The ones that had the most potency, and generally didn’t let my body adapt to them was BANG, Spike Shooter, and once in a blue moon I’ll pick an endorush…but with endorush its either going to get you extremely jacked up to lift, or it will make you feel sick, almost burnt out.
Stick with Spike Shooter, and if you supplement store has Bang, you could try that as well, although I’m avoiding creatine after using it for so long. Trying to reduce water levels and sodium intake
yeh i understand what your saying acelement, and i know I’m still young, but i’ve been working out for a few years now, im not a 15 year old still passing puberty, and have taken protein and creatine supplements before. I agree with a lot of u saying things like gatorade will help, but im looking to make that next step.
Oconski, have you ever considered taking the supp called Squatabolics…def not for the beginner, sure to get you major results

Hey waste your money if you want to. But you are not at a point where you need to “take things to the next level.” You’re 19, you haven’t even reached peak testosterone output. You are barely just past benching your own body weight for a 1RM. What amazes me even more is that what you are doing currently is working. Your 1RM numbers have gone up on your Sheiko program. So why the hell are you trying to dump MORE money when you are still getting great results?
I stand by my previous statement, for your own good.

Maybe the OP has the money to burn and wants to experiment with a new supplement.
This argument is just like giving someone with a nice sports car a hard time because they drive around at the speed limit.
Like a sports car, supplements are not required. Their use is based on desire and the ability to afford them.
All I would suggest is creatine, waxy maize or maltodextrin. Whey protein. if your routine demands high output, moderate-high reps Beta Alinine(sp?) to. Some Spike Shooter is awesome to BTW.
Really all you neeeeeeed right now I think.
No-Shotgun was my favorite…before i’ve tried Surge Workout Fuel. Taking of stims is a good way to relax the body in my case. Surge is amazing you feel energized and want to continue your training without the caffeine effects…
I’ve tried many different kinds of NO supplements when I first started working out. However, I feel like Spike has worked the best as a pre-workout. It continues to work, while other stuff I’ve tried stopped working pretty quickly.
Surge Workout Fuel is amazing too.
I just got this stuff called jacked2 by usplabs,I read lots of good stuff about it but havnt started it yet.
The onething that has worked consistantly and WELL for me is creatine, also sometimes glutamine. I’ve got nothing against Pre workout sups like NO-explode. I think they have their uses and have worked quite well for me in the past. But I’d just save the money for a rainy day.
I have tried a lot of shit. I am always looking for new stims since I have a high tolerance. I drive a beer truck all day so when i am done I need some pick-up.
Spike Shotgun was ok and I liked Juggernaut to. Yeah I burn money but thats why I make it and divorced that bitch who worried about it.
Anyone got some good mixes let me know.
AAHHHHH!! Just finished sippin my Spike Shooter! Love that stuff! I agree with being economical. A strong cup of coffee and some BCAA’s do the trick for me. I must admit though, I will have a shot of NoXplod before a big session. I only take one scoop though and it still jacks me up. Try some different things and see what works for you. Everyone is different, just remember to keep track of it though.
I think that ‘best’ must fit the context of when you’re working out. I workout at 6 in the morning (yawn). I make sure to swallow some BCAAs in addition to what Surge has in it.
When I work out later in the day, I use less b/c I can time my nutrient intake better.
I found that noxplode and other NO products upset my stomach and gave me a wierd bloated look throughout the day.
I’ve become a minimalist in recent years. whereas in the beginning I used to take every supplement under the sun, popping pills like a junkie, I now keep it real simple. I drink milk, and maybe a caffeine pill or a HOT-ROX. and guess what? I’m still gaining weight after 7 years of consistent training.
Coffee, and some old Megadeth on my IPOD
