What are your opinions out there? Does anyone train ONLY Muay Thai? If so; Where? The floor is now open for discussion.
I’m not gonna discuss best/worst… depends on the person and how you vibe with the instructor. For what it’s worth I trained here:
KRU BRYAN DOBLER
Kru Bryan is also known by his fight name “Double Dose” which our gym is named after. He is one of only a handful of Senior Instructors in the USA under Grandmaster Chai Sirisute (President and Founder of the Thai Boxing Assoc. USA) and has known Grandmaster “Chai” since he was just 6 years old. He began teaching more than 20 years ago starting with one student in his garage and eventually growing his stable of fighters and gym size to the 8,000 sf facility we have today. He was a professional Muay Thai Champion (trained by Ajarn Rex). He has fought in the USA and Thailand. Kru Bryan headed Team USA at the 2006 Kings Cup Muay Thai Tournament in Thailand, leading two of his students to silver medal honors, and bringing home a bronze medal of his own.
He is one of the few certified Krabi Krabong (Thai Sword fighting) Instructors in the USA, Certified by both Ajarn Stephen Wilson as well as Colonel Nattapong Buayam.
AJARN REX Senior Instructor
Ajarn Rex is a Senior Instructor for the Thai Boxing Association of the USA. His extensive fighting career in Thailand, Mexico and the USA totaling more than 150 fights, coupled with training fighters for 40 years makes him one of the most highly qualified and sought after trainers in the USA. He is loved for his kind heart and sense of humor and feared for his aggressive style of pad holding that can push the best conditioned professional fighter to their limits. He is a world class referee and judge for Muay Thai and MMA and has refereed World Championship Muay Thai fights all over the world. We are proud that he is part of our illustrious team of trainers here at Double Dose Muay Thai.
AJARN KIM KONGKRIANGKAI Senior Instructor
With 115 wins by KO he was one of the most fearsome fighters of his day (a true Muay Thai legend). He personally trained 5 champions in Thailand and numerous others in the USA and Mexico, including the infamous Julio Cesar Chavez for 4 years. He is a loved for his no-nonsense approach and his ring craft skill training. Never beating around the bush always pushing you beyond what you thought were capable of and always recognizing and capitalizing on your individual strengths. His half century of ring experience is a tremendous asset to the school.
KRU SHAWN FARNSWORTH Associate Instructor
Kru Shawn is certified Associate instructor for the Thai Boxing Association of the USA under Ajarn Chai, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in physical education as a teacher for the Fontana school district. She is a USA Muay Thai Champion, and brought home the esteemed Silver Medal from the Queen’s Cup Muay Thai Tournament in Bangkok Thailand. She is a champion in and out of the ring!

Saekson FTW. My instructor was a student of his.
i have been to numorous ATT gyms in south florida and have enjoyed them all
I don’t know if you’re just asking for the sake of discussion or looking for a place to train, but Dan Tharp is in the KC area and he’s really good.
I’m asking for both reasons Smiley. I really would like to train at a high level place, but more importantly I’d like to train at a place with connections. Connections to K1, or other smaller circuits that could lead to K1.
Zen,
Thank you man! Three places that sound excellent! I’ll be taking a look at all three, although right now I really would love to train in Holland. I’ve got the traveling itch.
Thoughts on trainers like Dellagrotte, Ken Hahn, Mike Winkeljohn? I know these are all guys coaching MMA fighters, but I think they probably have great connections. Where would you rate these guys?
I realize I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I didn’t want to start a new one with the same premise when it already exists. Does anyone have any input for what some of the best Muay Thai gyms are in the USA? I may be in a position to move soon and was looking to train in Muay Thai. Good gyms/trainers might have an impact on where I would settle.

This.
I’m biased because I came up under the TBA for Muay Thai, but that’s a lot of high-level Muay Thai in one location: world-class coaches.
Thanks for the input, I’ll take it into consideration. I was leaning toward Saekson Janjira’s over in Dallas because of cost of living. Just seems cheaper to live there, which would allow me to do everything else I need to as well.
Saekson’s in Plano.
Houston Muay Thai under Michael “Chase” Corley…and Kru Bob Perez.
Mark Beecher is in Oklahoma City…housed in Lovato’s academy.
Or just move to California…lol. CSA…Dublin,CA. Kevin Ross, Gaston Balanos…etc…etc…>>insert champion<<<
Just depends on your cost of living situation…and where you’re wanting to relocate.
Thanks man. I know CA is probably one of the best places for Muay Thai or MMA in general, but whether it’s LA or San Fran it’s a lot more expensive to live out there than in somewhere like TX. I was just curious if anyone had any updates on good Muay Thai gyms in the USA since this thread went stagnant, but if it’s about the same then that’s cool too.
