I’ve recently hurt my back and want to be 100% prepared as I can be to prevent reoccurance.
What are some great belts for safety while deadlifting and squatting? If you could provide links, that would be great.

Inzer lever for me anyway! inzernet.com/detail_belt.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FOREVERBELT_LEVER13
I’ve the 13mm Inzer level and a 10mm Inzer buckle. I actually prefer the 10mm belt. I’ve found the 13mm to be TOO big and thick. Maybe it’s cos I’m only 215lb tho, but I did crack a rib with the 13mm.
any belt for lifting (NOT a nike, valeo, harbringer, etc) A nice big 4 inch wide belt (through the whole thing, no tapered shit they do nothing), can get from Inzernet.com; EliteFts.com; Titansupport.com; etc etc etc. Lever vs Buckle = personal preference, i like the buckle more, I’ve had both lever and buckle, sold my lever.
70 bucks? JESUS!
The point is, how do you know the belt fairy isn’t a crazy glue sniffer?
“Building model airplanes” says the little fairy; well, we’re not buying it.
He sneaks into your house once, that’s all it takes. The next thing you know, there’s money missing off the dresser, and your girlfriend’s knocked up. I seen it a hundred times
A belt is not an injury prevention device. It is a just a crutch to lift more weight snd should never be used.
Don’t do it.

That rib cracking support is just the way I like it! lol
If it’s a crutch to lift more weight, shouldn’t you use it on meet day?
I agree with you though, it isn’t intended to, nor does it protect you from injury. In one of McGill’s books he asserts that for it to give you the most “protection” you have to be lifting with bad form in the first place.
I have a 13mm Inzer single buckle and I love it. It’s like wearing medieval armor, and it’s guaranteed forever.
Not only is it a nice belt but you can get it in red/white/blue or my personal favorite, pink.
I like the Inzer lever as well.
I have a double prong 10mm belt from Elite. At some point I’ll upgrade to the super cheater 13mm belt.
apwsearch is joking btw.

Back in the day, I think the thickest belts were 10 mm. I’m 200-205 and have a 10 mm inzer lever. I also think the 13 mm would be a little to thick for me.

APT has great belts at a great price. The two new Camo designs are really sharp.
Bad idea. You need to keep your abs strong. Do a lot of ab work.
Use a belt on heavy sets, but using it always will make you weak and prone to injury.
I own the lever belt from inzer, 10mm. You don’t really need anything more than 10mm. Its great, broke in quickly. The first time I used it, it wasn’t even too stiff. It hasn’t gotten soft even though I use it on my heavy sets.
I know abs are important as I’ve been squatting and deadlifting for a long time and moderately heavy at that. i just thought a thick full wrap around belt would help my lower back on slip ups. But, I guess I was mistaken?
If a belt allows someone to lift more weight, then wouldn’t it be easier for me to lift my current rep weight and therefore be safer because it’s easier?
hmmmm… my post seems to have disappeared.
I’ve a 13mm inzer lever, and a 10mm inzer buckle. The 10mm belt wins hands down for me. The 13mm is just TOO thick. Like it’s completely over the top. It might be useful for a SHW but for a mid-heavy weight I think it’s overkill. I’ve actually cracked a rib on it it’s that thick.
I train with two single ply 90/100kg’ers who’ve both squatt well over 700lbs in 10mm belts, so I think they’re plenty supportive for all but the biggest of the big in multiply feds.
I like the lever action, and if I was in the market for a new belt I’d get a 10mm with a lever. That being said, having used both, the difference isn’t THAT big between lever and buckle.
Keep an eye on the belt fairy. (stews is right, I was joking. I absolutely think a belt used approriately can help prevent injury.)
However, it I were to purchase a belt it would probably be from here: http://www.safe-usa.com/Powerlifting/Belts.htm
They also make a training belt that is not listed on the web site and I think is around $40. It is basically single ply leather but same width as a power belt. We have a couple of these around and they are great.
Call Josh and ask him. He has been making the belts for as long as I can remember and now owns the company.
It seems anything by Inzer is great. I bought a generic belt that was made to look like an Inzer and popped the rivets out while doing a heavy deadlift.
Another vote for Inzer lever.
Well does anyone have a used one they want to sell me? lol
