Im yoir typical guy that lifts and doesnt do cardio. Always been like that but its gonna change. I know i cant get lean like i want to by just eating good and lifting. I need to add in a good 30 minute sesion every other day. What type of cardio should i do? What works best?
Not sure it’s the absolute best, but adding a 30 minute walk every day is a solid option that usually actually helps recovery.
So you’re wanting to do cardio is for fat loss ? If thats the case take @Silyak advise.
You could also track your steps.
Walking for 30 to 60 minutes everyday
Do you want to get good at cardio, or get leaner?
I want to get leaner. My diet is good and my workouts are good. Cardio is last ingredient i need to add to make it come together. And also i work 2 jobs i work fulltime in oil field and also pretty much fulltime at convenient store. I dont have a hours and hours to spend at gym i have about hour 15 to hour 30 and i gots to go.
Appreciate the feed back
A great body composition can be accomplished void of any cardio at all. Maybe your diet strategy needs to be critiqued. Diet is many times more effective to improve body composition than any amount or type of cardio.
The one you like. There is no best choice.
But the title of the thread said:
Best kind of cardio to burn fat and keep.muscle?
“Keep muscle” leans strongly to limiting cardio to LISS, like walking, IMO. And when I did do cardio to lose fat and keep muscle, I did it with at least one meal separating the cardio from the lifting. After I lifted weights it was critical to next feed the muscle.
Lol right
True

Cardio is last ingredient i need to add to make it come together.
I’d limit the duration and frequency to avoid adaptation. Its way too easy (we’re totally built for it) to adapt and end up tequiring a tremendous amount just to move the needle.
Very recently @robstein shared his contest prep, wherein he was doing like 15 minutes twice per week if I remember correctly.
As others said, diet is king for losing fat. I hate cardio, since it typically requires time on treadmill/bike/jogging, etc. I much prefer hill sprints, farmer walks and KB swings.
My advice with cardio is do something you find fun with less structure. Mountain bike, hit the heavy bag, hike, swim etc. Something you would enjoy and the cardio is just an added bonus.
