I used gloves for a couple of years. One day, I forgot to bring them with me to the gym and I was able to crank out a couple extra reps on my deads and the dumbells felt more secure when I was pressing them. I haven’t gone back to them since.
That’s because the gloves act like a fat bar. Putting extra girth into the bar.
Getting flamed for using gloves?Like I give a fuck.
I deadlift more than the guys in my gym who use chalk.
Just because you use chalk means nothing(yeah, fuck you walmart!!!).

Exactly my thoughts every time this subject comes up and all the “hardcore” lifters make fun of gloves and straps. I get the feeling that some people think that using chalk somehow promotes them to the inner circle of lifting. Chalk is merely a tool, as are gloves and straps.

I don’t use gloves straps or chalk. Does this mean I’m on the inner circle of the inner circle, or that I’m just too lazy to get ahold of any? Help me, I’m confused by all these rules.

LOL. Yep, perhaps the Grand Poobah of the inner circle.

Tell me about it.
I have quite a few on my hands from last nights deadlifting.
Sometimes it hurts when you’re holding th bar and have really bad bumps on your hands.
But I get through.

Gloves
Sleeve-less shirts
Spandex pants
Shorts that are more than 8" above the knee
Attire that includes a combination of a “Wife-Beater” and Adidas wind pants
YOU SILLY FAGGOTS!!!
can you add to that list shorts that go more than 3 inches below the knee?

Or shorts that hang below a guys butt? What’s with that anyway? Who wants to see your damn underwear?

Wow!
Would pouring water from my water bottle all over my face and shirt after bench pressing count too?
And maybe walking around with a belt on for deadlifting even when I’m not working my back?

and you get more badass points for getting the chalk all over you after a lift
for example, after you do a set of deads; just wipe it off on a your black t-shirt…ooohh!!!
haha, i’ve done that before but its usualy just b/c i have 2-4 min between sets and don’t wanna get chalk on my face or anyting ike that.
I’ve used many different brands of straps. Any brand with a little extra padding on the wrist is good. It won’t give your wrists any type of laceration like some of the shitty ones and they’ll last longer.
