Best Combat Movie

Don’t know if this fits into the “Martial Arts Combat” theme the thread was taken, but this is just 10 minutes of a freaking roller coaster:

Passchendaele

Braveheart

Magnificent 7 (yeah I know but it was cool action)

The Patriot (mel is mad but he knows how to kill large groups of people)

Tears of the Sun (Bruce Willis & this movie had some ruthless kills)

but i would much rather live in a society where there are internet hard boys and weekend worriers that will call you a pussy when your just beyond ear shot than a society that requires fighting to resolve something.
I would much rather just walk away than smack someone and them land funny, hit there head and die… or the so called weaker guy making up for his lack of fighting ability by pulling out a weapon.

I definitely think people lack responsible for there actions but that isnt something new is it?
Yes, it is something new. For instance, I seriously doubt 300 years ago that if someone made an “ad” about their new ale making you more attractive to women, that someone would sue for damages when they didn’t get laid.

It is no one else’s responsibility to raise your kids either, yet how many times are we assaulted with parents complaining about a tv program they could easily turn off or cds they don’t have to buy?

Yes, a world where you can get knocked the fuck out for being a jackass equals LESS jackasses…or at least less jackasses who will let the world know how much of a jackass they are.
I agree that lawsuit is ridiculous but our society is v.complex and that has more to do with judicial systems and people taking the piss…as society evolves common sense is getting left behind.

O/c it parents responsibility to to raise there kids but i also believe its everyones reponsibility to be held accountable for our actions if they affect others, whether if your a TV producer or teacher or sat on a bus swearing but again it comes down to common sense.

For every 150lb jackass that you could quite easly teach a lession there are just as many bigger jackasses that it wouldnt be so easy…how many times have you seen a “bigger” guy acting like a dick because he is big…

I understand what your saying and sometimes i REALLY undersatnd your frustration but on the whole i think our society is the better.

Almost never. If there is a guy being a dick, it is usually NOT the guy with 20" arms.

I’m really not sure if we are better off or just becoming numb and over looking the day to day stupidity of people. Basically we are OVERLOOKING people walking pass people without a glimpse becasue everyone is afraid, afraid of being taken to court or afraid of confronting a Dumbass who many moons ago would never have made it past there teens acting the way most asses act in public.

There is almost no more accountabilty for kids. If you ran your mouth as a child on the play ground and someone called you on it you either put up (stood your ground and put some muscle behind your words) or you shut up (ran away or offered an apology to avoid an azz thumping)

Either way there was a balancy to life. If you wanted to be a loud mouth azz you had to be able to back it up because someone at some time would call you on it at a young age. You learned at a young age that you either had to
A-be a fast running loud mouth
B-be a Fast hard punching jackass
C-Be a good person because you didn’t want to have to live with beign A or B.

Not anymore. I see mothers getting upset because a teacher is telling them about there child cursing at other students and yelling at adults. Parents??? defending this behaivor. Sad But its why we have so many like this these days.

If “idk” mean “I don’t know”, I do. I see “short man syndrome” all of the freaking time. Very rarely is some HUGE dude who looks like he either plays pro ball or works as a bouncer or pro bodybuilder acting like an ass in public…if for no other reason than someone like that is ALWAYS under the microscope and they know it.

or maybe you just see a lot more short/small men around…

There was a situ a while ago near where i live when some guy was just driving on some uk country road, so one lane, the guy was going the speed limit.
Some other car comes flying up behind him beeping and flashing his lights, the bloke infront just kept driving the same…he was doing nothing wronge so screw the other car right? why should he speed up and drive dangerousely. Anyway this went on for like half a mile/ a mile…by now the guy is getting pissed, this guy is still driving up his arss beeping and waveing him to get off the road.
The bloke infront thinks fuck it speeds up and pulls into the next place where he could and slams on his breaks. the other car flys in and pulls up right behind him and both guys get out… before anything is said they guy who was in the front car hits the tail gater and knocks him out…the back door of the car opens and the wife/gf of the now unconscious guy gets out and shouts what are you doing. the guy is about to argue back wtf are you playing out but notices she is holding a baby but not all is right, the women tells the guy that her bf was trying to get his attention because the baby had stopped breathing and they needed his phone to call for help…

Now that is a true story that the police officer who i knew told me, obv this is just one of the unlucky situatuions but the point im trying to make is if we are a society who isnt responsible enough to, as you said simply turn a tv programme off if its not suitable how can you think people would be responsible to use violence?

That is a very terrible yet interesting story. How sad.

Story is irrelevant. We aren’t talking about anarchy and for every story like that, there are no doubt dozens involving someone using Human resources to end the employment of others with no personal confrontation.

Once again, the aggression and violence hasn’t gone anywhere. Passive Aggressive behavior is not better than aggression itself. It simply means all of those weak people who used to be subject to “survival of the fittest” now get to clog up youtube.

This i agree with…

I think i just got a little side tracked and focused on the violence side of things

Even though its from fiction, here is a great quote from Conan:

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

omg. combat movies so amy too count. but here it goes anything with Bruce Lee. my favorite is chinese connection where he goes to the japanese school an kicked ass badly. the ffirst two lethal weapon with mel Gibson. Jet lee in hero and fearless also legend of the fist. Dark Knight with Batman taking out everyone in the building using the night vision.
as far as people talking talking shit everyone does until they get popped in the mouth. sometimes it is not even worth the trouble unless they touch u or a loved one then gloves comes off.

I’m with PX on this one, after 7 years of bouncing/running security for bars and clubs I can say that short guys are massively over-represented when it comes to violent incidents. I’m not saying I’ve never wrestled big boys at work as there have been a few for sure but nowhere near as many as you would expect. When I say over-represented I mean for their population within the whole, they don’t just cause more problems because there are more of them.

I always used to joke that the one dress code I desperately wanted to bring in was a height restriction on guys, if we never let men under 5’7" into the bar we’d cut our problems by 80%.

Big guys have too much to lose, if a big dude pics a fight with a little dude it’s lose-lose. If he wins everyone says “Well yeah, you’re twice his size so what?” If he loses everyone mocks him and belittles him.

Little guys have less to lose. If they win they’re a hero and if they lose nobody thinks any less of them.

Well, “300” always makes me wanna kick some ass. “Undisputed 3” With Scott Adkins is also a good one.
“Bloodsport” With JCVD is one I´ve seen lots of times when I was a kid. “Kiss of the dragon” with Jet Li is excellent and the first “the Transporter” with Jason Statham.

How could I forget: ONG BAK, Toom Yung Goong (love the locks and the broken bones), ONG BAK 2 and ONG BAK 3.

Tony Jaa´s movies always rock!

You must hang out in different places then I do. I’ve seen many more big guys start trouble at bars.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it myself, and how many stories start with, “So this big juicehead guy starts going fucking crazy.”

You’re seeing what you want to see. An asshole is an asshole, regardless of size.
That’s probably because your in Jersey. I used to see it here too. I’ve had the typical jersey juicehead guido try and start shit with me back when I used to go to the clubs down the shore in the summer. He just picked me out of the crowd and decided he was going to bust my balls. I’ve also seen one get his ass kicked by a latin kid on the board walk because he was starting shit. A couple years back in Hoboken, a big black dude started ripping on my friend (who’s 5’5 140 lbs) because he was wearing a Hawaiian vacation shirt. Not in a funny way, but in an asshole way. My friend turned it around and made him look like an idiot, but he was still the one starting shit.

So yeah, around here I’d say it’s just as likely that the big guy starts shit as it is the little guy.

Oh, and for those of you that have Netflix, Ong Bak is available on the Instant Streaming. I watched it last night after reading this thread and I loved the fight scenes.
