Best Combat Movie

Needless to say, if you havent seen Undisputed 2 and 3 go and get them now! Scott Adkins is very underated in the industry right now.

Scott Adkins is one of those movie martial artists who could actually beat your ass in real life. Alot of people forget that in order to portray these characters on film, roles whichs are so physically demanding, you have to actually know how to fight.

Some actors can get away with only training fighting once in a while: ie Matt Damon in the Bourne series. But you can always tell the actors that live it and breathe it. Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Jet Li, Bruce Lee, and now you can add Scott Adkins to the list.

A lot of people also don’t know that he was in Wolverine. When you watch the video, towards the end (1:13 and no thats not a sound effect) listen to the momentum he generates by his pants rustling in the air.

This type of skill will always be in demand in Hollywood. Thats why im proud to train in this stuff and know friends in the industry who do. Haven’t met Scott Adkins yet tho!

Scott Adkins in Ninja…plot is beyond terrible but for the action the movie is worth a watch. I think Scott is on pace to be a great martial artist moive actor. He’s one of the “rookies” that show promise if you will.

I have a hard time watching horrible plot movies no matter how good the action is. I can watch Hero and Fearless 500 times because the story is interesting. Movies with ONLY good fight scenes only get casual viewing at best.

You all did inform me of some guys I had never heard of before.

I also clearly see that Jet Li is greatly underrated.

Have you seen Yip Man 2 yet. I hear it has more action less story than the first part. And the first part was an all around good movie.

No I havent seen Yip Man 2 yet, although I can’t wait!

Also Scott Adkins and JCVD will be in a film together called WEAPON. That should be out next year.

He’s also working with a producer from ROCKY (Rocky 6) to do a movie called BLOOD HOSTAGE, a movie about a brother trying to rescue his bro from lebanese terrorist. The movie is totally based on Krav Maga. IT shows MUCH promise from what I can tell.

Most def! I mean the stuff he did in UNLEASHED was IMO some of his best work. Scott Adkins is in that movie too.

FEARLESS and UNLEASHED are in my top 5 favorite Jet Li movies.

Ip Man 2 has some great scenes, but overall I think the first was better.

There’s another out too (prequel), Ip Man - The Legend is Born

I always felt the first 2 Balde films had some really bad ass fight scenes, especially since Snipes actually knows martial arts and can act.

Hnonorable mention the sword vs gun in Indian Jones

Too Bad his legal trouble is ruining his career! Don’t pay ur taxes? Are you kidding me???

Yeah because this movie needs to get released. Zombies martial arts and the old west

I think when this happens to celebs, 9 times out of 10, they got screwed by a CPA. I don’t know the circumstances behind his, but guys like that shouldn’t have been left out of The Expendables. Snipes was right there holding it down in action movies during that period when Stallone had backed off and the only thing Arnold was doing was trying to get into politics.

Passenger 57 is still a fucking classic action movie…and yes, the dude can fight for real.

Like many boys growing up in the late 70s and 80s - Enter The Dragon and BloodSport had a huge impact on me. I consider these the best in the “Tournament Combat” genre.

A little later-on I enjoyed many Hong Kong kung-fu movies, but ultimately preferred “Swordsman” movies. Good examples of these are The Bells of Death (1968) [dull opening fight scene, but stick with it!] and the 2003 version of Zatoichi.

My taste has now evolved to where I believe the best fight scenes are story driven. Meaning that I can no longer get pumped watching a man kick another man’s face without there being compelling story behind it. For this reason I’m now a huge fan of the Bourne Trilogy. The Kali (Filipino Martial Art) influenced fight scenes are simply amazing!

I’m not sure what this Jet Li film is named in English, but it’s excellent.

Gei ba ba de xin (1995)

I believe it’s sometimes called:
My Father is a Hero; or
Jet Li’s The Enforcer.

It’s set in modern times and doesn’t involve too much ‘supernatural jumping’.

First one that came to mind, sheer ridiculousness.

Anyone see the samurai movie “Heaven and Earth”? Great battles sequences. Made in the 80’s I believe. Also, “Fight Club” was pretty good. LOL
