Best Chin-Up Form

some feedback please. When doing chin ups, is best form to allow for full extension of arms on the eccentric portion? My challenge is that if I fully allow my arms to extend before my next repetition, it’s more difficult to execute the movement with added weight.

If I don’t fully extend arm on the eccentric, I can handle more added weight. Is either approach better at building bicep mass?

You should go right to the bottom on the way down. This way you get the full range of motion and a nice stretch on the lats. Makes sense that way, otherwise you would just be limiting the range of motion. It’s just like benching or squatting, you can lift more weight if you use less ROM, but you get shit results.

Both methods have their place. Using a partial range of motion to allow for use of a greater load has it’s place. You just want to make sure that’s not all that you do. The majority of time you want to use a full ROM.

Good training,
