I also enjoy light beers. They’re great on a hot day after walking or jogging or doing some yard work. There’s no need to act like you’re so hard you can’t stand light beer. They’re only 1% off in alcohol. Hell, I think light beers have more alcohol than Guinness.[/quote]

It’s a taste thing mostly, not trying to be ‘hard’. Its kind of why i prefer coffee over tea if that makes sense, flavor, complexity, etc.

Some light beers are ok, the majority of the main stream ones dont do it for me, though.

You guys disgust me… Where are the Heinekens???

one of the best beers I’ve ever had. It’s like drinking wart, in a good way.

Uh are you sure you are old enough to drink?

Who the fuck drinks Heine’s any more?

Slavutych Classic was one of my favorites, from ukraine, but they stopped making it.

Fat Tire is a good, popular microbrew. 1554 is a better beer.

I generally like Belgians though. Chimay Blue especially.

Belgian Pale Ales (Orval, Leffe Blonde) are good, British Pale Ales (Bass, Boddingtons, Old Speckled Hen) are good, American Pale Ales are awful, and IPAs don’t sit well in my stomach – although some are acceptable.

@steel nation, your selections are fantastic. Stone and Dogfish get it done for sure. The 90 minute IPA is fantastic.

Also, Sapporo is a great go-to light lager. It destroys the usual choices in that category, is very drinkable for pretty much everyone, and is widely available.

A brewery was recently started 2 doors down from my office/shop, called Lakewood Brewing Company. My life is complete.

I think I’ve only had Ommegang and one from a local brewery. I remember it being ok.

What do you recommend?

Lagunitas is one of my favorites. Ninkasi is also amazing. Both with quite high alcohol % (7-10%)

Moved to Fort Collins a little over a year ago and this place is like a beer mecca. I think New Belgium has some quality beers but I personally prefer Odell’s Brewery selection http://odellbrewing.com . I’ve been waiting all year to get to taste their Isolation Ale again. SO GOOD.

I’ll definitely have to check out Ninkasi. Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada are my go-to’s these days, but I figured DBCooper had Sierra Nevada covered.

OP, Terrapin is an east coast brewery based outside Atlanta that I was pleased with last time I was out that way.

You’re in California, you should be drinking Russian River, Firestone Walker, The Bruery, Stone, Alpine, etc… Depending on where you’re at of course.

I have Heineken from time to time but I find it a tad bitter.

We should make sure this thread, while illuminating, doesn’t start turning into one that’s like favorite bands as people start mentioning more obscure bands that only play in one corner of one county of one state.

I hate when I have a Bud or Molson and someone has some bottle of black beer with a dog on it (so many dogs on microbrews)that’s produced by two guys and they only make 5 bottles a year etc. and they always look at my beer and say “That’s not beer!”

I then throw them to the ground, kneel on their neck, show them the bottle and point to exactly where it says beer

Love Sierra Nevada DB, it is my go to summer beer. I haven’t seen any of those you posted, I must be too far east.

I have really been a fan of Founders here in michigan as of late, their Dirty Bastard 8.5% ABV, Porter 6.5% and Breakfast Stout 8.3% are pure heaven. You won’t be drinking a lot of them to get hammer though, they drink more like a meal except for Dirty Bastard.

Those are only available in the town of Chico, which is where Sierra Nevada is brewed. In fact, the three that I posted are only available in the brewery itself and maybe a couple of bars here in town.

Of the Sierra Nevada products that are readily available for mass-consumption, I used to be a big fan of their Porter and their Celebration Ale.

Torpedo Extra IPA is really good as well…
