Bent-Over Rows Questions

Hey guys, a few Q’s on bent over rows:

  1. How far do you bend over?

  2. Where to you pull the barbell up to? Do you hit yourself with it? Where does it hit you on your torso?

  3. You keep your torso rigid, right?

Thanks.

Bend your knees and bend more than 45 degrees. I like to keep at about 30 degrees, and i bring the bar to my upper ab region. The lower you go the more emphasis you put on the lats and less on the upper back/lower trap region.

The bent-over row is a lot harder than it looks.

  1. Your knees should be slightly bent and your torso should be as close to parallel to the ground to hit the lats. Further from parallel will allow you to use heavier stuff, but your traps will take more of the work.

  2. Utilize as much ROM as you can, so hit your upper abs/lower ribs.

  3. Keep it all tight, or else you’ll be using your lower back to lift the weight as well.
